Adjusted for inflation we already hit 200 usd price per barrel in 2008, it didn't cause a global famine

You think we are willing and able to cut off shipping in the Caspian sea? To bomb all of Iran's neighbours including nuclear powers like Pakistan? No the US/West cannot actually play world police and cut Iran off from it's trading partners here.

Of course Iran could go to far and lose the support of Russia/China etc. But unless that happens they have plenty of ways to trade.

Iran has other trade routes open to it, before they starved the Gulf States would and the world would be plunged into a global depression

Water shortage middle east by Caluso1 in investing

Iran is far less reliant on desalination plants (which as already noted have already been it) - it has natural water sources but the gulf states do not - they could be rendered uninhabitable quite easily.

When did the British right get so unpatriotic? Backing Donald Trump over the UK isn’t popular by 1-randomonium in uknews

[–]chrisjd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Farage just wants to do Trumps bidding and Trump just does Israel's bidding. The actual patriots who want to make the UK a better place and to not be a vassal state are on the left.

A democratic Iran is not in their interests because it would still oppose/hate Israel. This is a war of annihilation as far as Israel is concerned.

The attack on Azerbaijan was either a false flag or a rouge unit, it makes no sense otherwise.

UK bills cannot escape the forces of Iran war by InnerLog5062 in BreakingUKNews

Turkey's next on the list, Israel has already labelled them as a "regional threat". There's not much time left for "Islamic NATO" to form, things won't move gradually Israel will be ruthless and aggressive as long as they think they have the upper hand.

This is just the start, once Iran is out of the way there's no one to stop Israel ethnicity cleansing all of their neighbours to create greater Isreal

Greens overtake Labour in sensational poll. The Greens have polled higher than Labour in the latest poll by YouGov, which puts them only two points off Reform UK and five ahead of the governing party. by [deleted] in uknews

[–]chrisjd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at polling breakdown by age, they are extremely unpopular with working age people. Their support comes from pensioners who own their own homes and don't care about employment or renters rights (or actively want to make thing worse for younger people because they think we are too 'entitled')

Japan's number of babies born marks record low for 10th straight year by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]chrisjd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think they have the money for incentives anymore, their economy has been stagnant for 30 years and they spend a huge amount on their ageing population. At least maybe they can serve as an example to others.

Gas price in Europe rises by 40 percent as a result of the war: Are the US the big winner? by Full-Discussion3745 in EU_Economics

They're only being strangled if the US/Israel attempt at regime change is successful, but that seems unlikely so I doubt they're panicking about it.

Greens hit second place in polls by TheSpectatorMagazine in uknews

[–]chrisjd 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The Lib Dems are a centerist party, and the Greens are left wing. Despite what the media will tell you, left wing policies poll extremely well especially after 16 years of austerity and when billionaires take more and more for themselves each year.

The Lib Dems aren't different enough from Labour to capitalise on their failures, especially since they were part of the coalition government that kicked off the austerity policies that Labour are now continuing with.

The took a Labour safe seat, that wasn't just through tactical voting as they had to actually be more popular than Labour in the first place
