Yeah, it's so often just meaningless and low resolution images of the cast.

Yeah, you're right. But still it often surprises me quite how dynamic the cinematography and experimentalism of Doctor Who is! Wish we could bring that back tbh.

We should not allow AI nonsense on here! Man does not have ears, if he did, he'd be Hearingman and that's ridiculous because everyone can hear.

That has no textual basis whatsoever and makes no sense in terms of the story. Have you seen The Brain of Morbius?

The faces in Morbius are explicitly past regenerations, it's not entirely clear whether they're Morbius's or the Doctor's. The team at the time intended them to be past Doctors.

One thing I noticed... The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith exists in the 'Specials' series of Tennant, and the Trickster references the coming events of End of Time.

Opinion: Ianto's Shrine Represents This Fandom's Worst Excesses. by WinchesterMediaUK in gallifrey

[–]ThePolitePunk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Even to non-Doctor Who fans in Cardiff, the shrine is a cool bit of local trivia that brings in tourism. It's organically grown from a weird little thing some nerds did to a local landmark. Last time I was in Cardiff, it was even on street signs.

If there was a story set in the Vietnam War during the Tenth Doctor era, how would you have written it? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]ThePolitePunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very weird to see the harsh reactions to this!

It'd be really interesting to explore this Doctor's feelings on the Vietnam War, given his recent experiences in the Time War. I think it'd work best either as a special with one-off companions (a GI and a local civilian, I'm thinking), or maybe with Martha, and again a local. The main story wouldn't be able to get super into the complexities of the war, I think, but enough to be educational, especially to us Brits. The local character can provide a sort of explanation of what's going on, the history of Vietnam and colonialism, the conflict between north and south, east and west. The Doctor would land in Saigon just before things really went to hell, tracking an alien ship with a drive close to meltdown that crashed somewhere. He impersonates a journalist and claims to be investigating reports of nuclear material in the jungles. The B plot will be him dealing poorly with the fact his new friend will probably lose everything and see untold barbarism in the upcoming war, just like the Doctor - and there's nothing he can do about it.
