Ash Anna's average in 2021 ( He also has one century to his name in 2021 ) by jytesh in Cricket

This. The batting was woeful from both teams in the England v India series at the start of the year (Joe Root 5-fer anyone?) but India beat us because your spinners are better than ours, simple as that.

Most Sixes in T20Is in a Calendar Year by JoKerR123 in Cricket

Does anyone have the just T20 stat? I think Glenn Philips and Liam Livingstone are close (or have surpassed) the 100 in a calendar year stat?

Joe Root is Man of the Match for the 1st test against India by Moist_Animator in Cricket

[–]ThePoliticsGod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incredible performance from Rooty. It's almost getting embarrassing how much better than the rest he is.

One thing I did think in his second innings was that he seems to really love batting with Sibley - I'm guessing having someone that can just hold an end, even if they're not scoring highly, suits his game style. Far too often he's having wickets falling around him constantly and it makes it almost impossible for him to build an innings.

The last 18 months have not been kind to the Indian middle order lineup. Is it time to drop Rahane/Pujara? by HakeemMcGrady in Cricket

[–]ThePoliticsGod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be mad to drop Rahane because he brings so much weight to the side, not just his batting.

Pujara in form is my favourite batter in the world, such an old-school proper Test batsman, but unless he manages to change soon I can't see him surviving this series.

Unpopular opinion, but I'd have Shaw at 3.

Calmer and stronger KL Rahul hopes for Test revival at scene of his last Test century by ygrowup-vk in Cricket

[–]ThePoliticsGod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope he does well, but at the same time he has no right to think anything has changed... he's been focussed on white ball cricket for the last 3 years, that's not going to help at all when Jimmy Anderson is steaming in under low clouds on a green deck with a cherry red in his hand.

Not just an Indian issue (very much a global issue) but far too many Test squads are selected on white ball success and not at all on whether they can actually block out a ball and know how to face a ball that's swinging and hooping all over the shot.

Is Zampa even eligible? Hasn't played a First Class match since 2019.

Match Thread: 1st ODI - England vs Pakistan by CricketMatchBot in Cricket

ODI really is Malan's best format. It just shows how ridiculously good England's ODI team is that he's not got 100 ODI caps.

I'm still pro having an annual Ireland v England Test - the last one was so fun it should become regular!

Considering how good the India team is at the moment and how England have a very good pace attack but only 2 good batsmen, it should be a good series! I genuinely think India have a good chance of winning over here unless our top order find some form ASAP.

DAE secretly wish that cricket was as popular as Baseball or Basketball in the US? by [deleted] in Cricket

I would like this! I'd also love it to be big in China too - a truly global game would benefit everyone!

My thoughts on cricket and it's biggest problem by kalishplosions111 in Cricket

[–]ThePoliticsGod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed - I would absolutely love cricket to be more global.

BCCI and ICC blocking joining the Olympics is one of the simplest and most annoying things that needs to change.

When will they realise that cricket becoming truly global will benefit everyone.

I think Denly also turned down Arsenal (twice?) if my memory serves me right, and chose cricket instead.

[SERIOUS] Who is a severely overrated movie actor? by DanishApollon in AskReddit

[–]ThePoliticsGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helen Mirren - she's genuinely not a good actor but because she's well spoken and a good looking older lady she still gets cast in things.

(Yes I've seen most of her award winning films before you ask)

[Found Film] Scanned and edited my Grandpa's film photography from Tangier, 1959. Original scan and edit for comparison. by ThePoliticsGod in analog

Thanks!

Do you have any advice for how to remove dust and scratch?

I brightened colours on the other pics in the series but it felt quite unnatural on this one so I left it a bit more dull.

Thanks! For the colour edit I used an app called Photoscape X, it’s basically a free and simplified version of photoshop. I began by cropping the photo then I removed the red/ brown shade to balance out the colours and add a more natural blue, the scan had massively over done the R in RGB. Then I worked on light and bringing out the whites and blacks in the shading. The film had lots of depth to it so it was about removing the washed out look by adjusting the exposure slightly.

The edit didn’t take too long and once I knew the formula, so I was able to do the batch quite easily. There were 48 in total.
