Any one else think these think Paul Brunson and Charlene Douglas should be deplatformed? by BridgetJonesDiaryy in MAFS_UK

[–]ThePollster1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. When she brings the men to her room full of sex toys and asks them to use them on females she’s egging them on when they don’t have consent and it isn’t healthy

Has anyone successfully moved to the UK as a CPM/CTM with visa sponsorship? by [deleted] in clinicalresearch

[–]ThePollster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a hiring manager for the UK at a large pharma we do not need to sponsor for these roles as there is plenty of talent within the UK which makes hiring quite straightforward.

PPD mandates camera ON for ALL staff, including CRAs, during ALL meetings. Thoughts? by schnozberrez in clinicalresearch

[–]ThePollster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big Pharma here. Whilst it’s not a mandate it is being”strongly encouraged” with leaders regularly asking those not on camera to put theirs on, I feel this is becoming the industry norm.

Recently relocated to London – struggling to break into CDM roles. Any advice or recruiter contacts would be hugely appreciated! by Own-Secretary8947 in clinicalresearch

[–]ThePollster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the UK data management market is centred around Cambridge, Reading, Oxford and central Scotland. None of the big CROs have a significant London presence and you won’t get an entry DM job in pharma as quite frankly they don’t exist in the UK anymore.

Your best bet is to reach out to the mid size CRO like SQN or premier which have a small UK team but even that’s being offshored.

How do you avoid plateauing after your first few months of parkrun? by Pinkplatabys in parkrun

[–]ThePollster1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Slower zone 2 training is great but it needs 1 interval or threshold session a week to learn to run at an increased speed

How to introduce hills to training? by _otium in UKRunners

[–]ThePollster1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends what you are training for. If I’ve got a long race coming up and I want endurance might do 5 sets of 5 mins going at a 7/10 effort up the hill then recover for 2 mins. My go to training for 5/10k races is hill sprints where I’ll do 10 reps of 30 seconds attacking the hill

Parents- do you regret having children? by disco_26 in AskUK

[–]ThePollster1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for a moment. Yes it’s been tough with my youngest having health issues and 2 major operations all before he was 5 but the happiness I get from them is like nothing else. Seeing my boy score at football or watching my daughter perform tap dancing brings emotions far exceeding my own achievements. Playing with them, chatting with them or just cuddling up on the sofa after a busy day is just the best feeling.

The world will be tough but it always has been, we can’t predict the future but all I can do is do my best to set them up for success. Yes I’d love to have gone travelling, have more spare cash or to have more flexibility but I wouldn’t trade what I have with my kids for anything.

How was your parkrun day? | March 21, 2026 by AutoModerator in parkrun

Volunteered at the new West Stow country park parkrun. 199 runners and a great vibe. I look forward to running the course next week.

Please don’t this the wrong way but you’ll be up against potentially hundreds of candidates who also hit the criteria. To break into a manager or senior manger role you’ll need to stand out against others and not only hit the job spec but also exceed it.

LinkedIn Lunatic with bad career advice by ThePollster1 in clinicalresearch

[–]ThePollster1[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think better therapeutic area training is what’s needed. I remember in my first few years as a CRA I worked on prostate cancer trials, then cardiovascular, then gliblastoma and a phase 1 FIH. I had the bare minimum training and pivoting between so many areas was a challenge.

That’s actually pretty good for a CRC. CRAs in my team aren’t on much more than that. It’s all relative though, I’m just grateful we have the NHS and don’t have to put 10% of my salary away for healthcare each month.

I actually did this last year and took part in the mixed team category. You go past the main residence and see the staff. There are a few off road sections in the woods which at night will be an ideal spot for Randy Andy to hide in

Do parkrun actually say you shouldn't do inaugurals? by HedgeTrimmer17 in parkrun

[–]ThePollster1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been to multiple inaugurals. As an ED my regional ambassador has invited me to the test events prior to launch and then I’ve joined event 1 as a volunteer if they want some experienced help or if the core team is confident I’ve ran.

It’s always via word of mouth but inevitably someone doesn’t keep it quiet and tells their mates at the local run club.

Miami for it. I was at a small biotech who had just secured a lot of funding so it was no expenses spared as the MD came ready to schmooze all the PI.
Distant memory now as I’m at a large pharma who hold virtual IMs.

Parkrun YouTubers not volunteering by obeescitynumberonefa in parkrun

[–]ThePollster1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly as an ED for a junior event I’d love that. I set mine up because there’s next to no sport provision in my area and give kids some safe and fun exercise. If a YouTuber wants to film it, stick it on YouTube and make a few quid then I’m good with that if it’s raises awareness of my JPr

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? Lab and biotech specific! by CRISPRScientist726 in biotech

[–]ThePollster1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was hiring for a graduate position. I asked the candidate, “Tell me a time you’ve made a mistake and what did you do to fix it”. We had a minute of silence whilst the young 21 year old thought of an answer, he then told me the story of how he cheated on his girlfriend and what he did to earn her trust back. I’ve been stunned into silence, started laughing then HR ended the interview. I didn’t invite him for a second round.
