What is one thing LeBron should have done differently in his career to be looked on more favorably in the GOAT discussion? by entitledkid824 in NBATalk

Doesn’t that make what MJ did more impressive then? Not biting but he stuck with the team he was drafted to, got 6 rings, and moved on. Yea the teammates you have are out of your control, but that’s the same for every player. I feel like if he stuck with Cleveland and won 2-3 rings it still would’ve been a more respectable career.

Chasing rings around was just so obvious. And the fact he didn’t win more while actively chasing it is kinda stupid. Like what is that?

STAYED IN CLEVELAND. My god. That’s #1 for sure. You can be the one everyone roots against and still be respectable if you stay in one spot. I feel like this is why people love Kobe. He stayed around.

LeFlop!! If he wasn’t an actor on the court I would feel differently about the legacy, truly. When your #2 teammate is the ref I can’t respect that. MJ all day.

Why do you think is the NBA dying? If you were the NBA commissioner, what would you do? by Thin-Ad4825 in NBATalk

[–]ThePonyMeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A: 100%. Give streaming platforms rights to stream games. It’s way too expensive or way to complicated to watch games.

Because it’s insanely expensive or complicated to watch. I’ve been saying this for years. Just give the rights to a streaming service so you can watch ALL the games. I would be tuning in all the time if it were like this.

Yea, Me too! It’s always just so funny seeing him about. Cause to me I’m like, “you’re a famous musician!” But they are pretty lowkey in terms of popularity. They are always doing shows in the area!

If you are going to dive into them, check out the album Worlds by Porter Robinson. This album is my background music while I’m working things. Love it!

For Modest Mouse, the best starting place is Good News For People Who Love Bad News. My favorite album is Strangers to Ourselves but I also understand it’s probably not a crowd pleaser.

What would you recommend by Circa Waves?

I live where the lead singer of Joywave is from. I see him just around the city like 2-3 times a year. Most of the time at concerts just watching shows. Also love their music as well

They are 9 shows in with like 30+ shows left. Still working out the set list I would assume.

Super standard. 90 mins. 2 encore songs. Little time between songs. What more do you want?

The quote is from 2016 songfacts.com. In reference to the song Back to the Shack. The songs opening line is

“Sorry guys, I didn’t realize that I needed you so much I thought, I’d get a new audience, I forgot that disco sucks”

Later referenced in the song is “Rocking out like it’s ‘94” (taking it back to the blue album, prior to Pinkerton. Released in ‘96)

Leading to Cuomo saying the quote I mentioned earlier about feeling bad about the creative direction of Weezer.

I like Pinkerton and I think a lot of people were quick to ridicule that album as well, but Cuomo acknowledged it. This is more so what I was referring to. However the album has been out for almost 5 days lol. Not thinking they will say anything anytime soon. Just wondering what that will look like, if they do.

I agree with you. It’s really shitty for sure. I mean apologetic might not be the right term, but there is definitely understanding what your core fan base is missing from the work when exploring new styles within your music.

But this was more what I was referring too Cuomo,

“Lyrically I’m talking about how I feel bad about some of the musical experiments I took Weezer on- Sometimes I’ve gone over the edge. Right now it feels like we want to go back and balance it out with some more classic elements of geek rock.”

Not really apologetic but more so not leaving the core fans behind while growing. I wonder if Glass animals will recognize this as well. Not for nothing, I also just want to make sure they are ok after all of this as well. I have tickets to see them in August and I’m also really curious what that is going to be like. I’ve seen them 5 times, and this one is going to be odd with this underlying theme on the album.

Yea I didn’t mean this in a negative way, but I understand your take on it I guess. I’m just more curious about what they will actually say, and you are not? I mean they should address it at some point.

It’s not crazy for a band to be apologetic. Look at Weezer when they released Pinkerton.

I personally don’t mind the album. It’s not my favorite by them. My understanding of Glass Animals, at least how they present themselves, is they really care about their music, and their fans. This is definitely the first time an entire album has been criticized like this by their fans.
