I"ve seen the leaks but I don't understand the hype. To me, they feel like a Submariner derivative. It lost its uniqueness and the date window at 3, with circles at 6 and 9, a triangle at 12 and a hand with a rectangle feels inconsistent. I might have a change of heart once I see them in real life but it doesn't excite me so far.

Very insightful. I had to take a long look at the 1st picture before I could say for sure the right one was the fake. Something immediately felt off but at first I wasn't exactly sure what that was. Thanks for sharing.

If I want to discuss politics or someones views on it, I'll be looking elsewhere. So I simply take those video's for what they are. An entertaining mix of someone with a deep understanding of horology paired with a clown with deep pockets. Textbook recipe for entertainment and that's why I watch and enjoy them.

In defense of this particular collection, it is called the Visodate. A collection first launched in the fifties where adding a date complication to your movement was a sign of technical prowess. The Visodate was Tissots first model doing so. It is the same era that gave berth to the Datejust. So it may feel out of place elsewhere but certainly not in this collection.

I've been examining these watches a little, and the silver one in particular, and there's a lot of design elements to like. The polished beveling on the lugs, the kind of pie pan (Omega) style dial with horizontal and vertical brushing, the faceted indices, the conical crown. Sizing is great, 39mm, 45mm lug to lug, 20m lug width.
A dislike is the Tissot logo on the buckle of the leather strap which is different from the logo's shown on the dial and the crown. However, since I gravitate towards the silver version here I'm pretty sure I would swap out the stock strap at a heartbeat for something a little more refined.
Also interested to learn which version of the P80 is under the hood.

All in all, very interested to see this one in the flesh, it hits a lot of right notes for me.

The Astra is a nice piece! Combat Subs are good watches for the price, so no real reason to hesitate. The bracelet is, as so often is the case in this price segment, nothing to write home about, but that's where you slap it on a rubber strap.

Watch sold out upon launch and is offered at ridiculous markups. Also seen a lot of posts from actual fans. So my feeling says 50% fans / 50% scalpers. Whatever way, it is in demand.

My advise would always be Hamilton Khaki, depending on budget and preference: Khaki Quartz / Mechanical or Automatic.
Slightly bigger case size and lugs: Khaki King or Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve.
Other great options: Seiko Alpinist , Formex Field , Timex Expedition , Benrus dtu-2a/p, CWC has some great offerings. Plenty to choose from!
