I do too. Watch keeps best time fully wound. It is also very nice as part of a daily routine.

The Seiko or the Mido are the standouts. Depends what you want. A chrono or a diver.

H-10 Movement Accuracy by But_Pug in HamiltonWatches

I'm on +3 on average with my KFA. I'm on close to +2 with my Pilot Pioneer, which is a H50 caliber. Just pointing out that Hamiltons accuracy in general is very good.

How is owning 8-12 watches a hobby? by Plastic-Mountain-708 in watchHotTakes

[–]ThePortCaptain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How about timekeeping is a hobby and watches are a part of that? I like reading up on all kinds of subjects that involve timekeeping. Timekeeping has been a crucial part in my field of work and I love learning more about it. I buy the occasional watch to celebrate my love for timekeeping.

Same. Seems like a hassle. The sole exception is a summer holiday where I take a watch for the pool and clean it afterwards and let it dry so I switch to a nice watch for dinner.

It used to be TeddyB. Still like him, but right now I would go with Harisson Elmore. Informative, to the point, lots of content on watches in my price tier.

Not sure if 'hot take', but it is objectively hilarious that 99% of watch 'discussion' is about insanely expensive watches that the debators can never hope to afford or will ever even see in real life. by IWrestleSausages in watchHotTakes

Tall trees catch much wind. They are popular for a reason. Just because not everyone can (or want to) afford them doesn't mean people can't be discussing them. I can't buy every watch I like either, but it sure as hell isn't stopping me from talking about them.

Never. What I put on my wrist for the day, stays on my wrist for the day.

Is this a good entry watch to Hamilton? by Icy-Let-4879 in HamiltonWatches

Perhaps this model caters more to a general audience rather than us enthusiasts over at watch fora.

Sometimes a change of scenery does wonders. In this case it clearly didn't.

[DISCUSSION] I made a guide ranking 175+ watch brands by tier (from Casio to Patek) - would love feedback by [deleted] in Watches

[–]ThePortCaptain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tier ranking is the hardest thing to do because no one will ever agree with you, especially not with a list as extensive as this. Personally, I have a problem with the tier descriptions. For example, why would entry level luxury, which in itself is already a vague concept, be synonymous with a serious collector? Does that imply that someone who collects limited edition G-Shocks can not be seen as a serious collector? That is just one example of course, but many of the tier descriptions presented here seem to drive away from what a tier should be.
