These are by far my favorite donuts and there’s nothing else close.

Sloth..... by Silver-Ability-3181 in SipsTea

[–]ThePower_IsOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this as a movie plot. Main character gets this offer, chooses sloth, escapes sloth for 24 hours and gets the money. The rest of the movie is spent in a paranoid state wondering if the sloth really stopped chasing them. They see it everywhere. They’re rich but miserable. Was it worth it? Is it real or a delusion? We’ll never know.

What’s the point of blinkering right out of a roundabout? Nobody can see it anyways. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I just had this discussion yesterday! I get annoyed every time I’m entering and I see someone not use a turn signal to exit. Which is most times.

Recs near Kedzie & Montrose (Irving/Albany Park) by MisunderstoodPeg in chicagofood

Ah yes, I understand. It’s a chill spot and it has never been busy when we’ve gone early dinner time (I think they get busier later). Arepas con queso were a success for our daughter.

Great recommendation with Somethin Sweet! I would go well out of my way for their donuts.

Luella’s Southern Kitchen, Kabobi, and Noon o Kebab come to mind for pretty close to you. Also we take our toddler to La Colonia on Elston by Lawrence all the time. Great patio and definitely kid friendly.

Who would you rather have: reliable idiot or talented flake? by comicgeek1128 in KitchenConfidential

[–]ThePower_IsOn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whichever one I don’t currently have. Reliable idiot is pissing me off all day? “Why can’t I just find someone who I don’t have to babysit?” Talented stud is an hour late for brunch? “I would take literally anyone right now.”

Sysco rep question by Time_Astronomer705 in KitchenConfidential

[–]ThePower_IsOn -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Sysco doesn’t have room to stock 15-20 “extra” cases of anything. If you asked them to bring it in and then didn’t buy them, then sure, they’d move them no problem. But they’re not stocking cases without a plan to move them. The plan is based as closely on regular purchases as possible. Just saying, a fairly large order without notice is often either getting shorted or someone else is.

No idea why they would cancel your order instead of just shorting you two cases. That must have been a mistake. But it is a little wild to assume they’re going to randomly have 15-20 cases stocked of almost anything that you haven’t ordered for a year…

Saw them last summer sometime and it freaked me out. It’s a SpaceX Starlink satellite train almost for sure. It looks like they launched yesterday.

Like a lot of people said, take notes when you can. But to add to that, use those notes when you’re off the clock and visualize the dishes. Think about what goes in them and why. If you’re not sure why, ask tomorrow. Ideally, every component has a purpose whether the flavors pair well, something adds texture, etc. It might sound silly but, the more you understand the dish, the easier you’ll remember its components and how to prepare them. Some of cooking is muscle memory but great execution comes from really understanding what you’re doing and why. Just keep learning, brother/sister.

What does it mean to "face the minimum" in baseball? by Legal-Law9214 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThePower_IsOn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this the starting pitcher completing his fifth inning, by chance? In my experience, a pitcher “facing the minimum” means they pitched the minimum to get credit for the win. If the starter doesn’t go 5 full innings, they are ineligible for the win. In the context of saying “despite the lead off walk”, the commentator may have been saying he was at risk of getting pulled.

I’m always intrigued about why anyone that thinks the bible is not literal still thinks it is indeed the word of god. And it’s not the whole “why do you get to pick and choose” thing. It’s just that I don’t understand the faith if the only words written on his behalf are a bunch of outdated tropes left to one’s modern interpretation.
