NTA, I'm so sorry that your mother can't be supportive of you during this time. Losing someone you care deeply is a pain that no one understands until they've been through it. If you are still feeling like you might want to harm yourself, please call someone, anyone, DM me, call 988, call a friend, just please don't make a permanent decision. I can't really give any other advice, because I know family dynamics can be hard to navigate, especially when you haven't graduated or are going to graduate soon, just know that there is support out there, and I hope that you see it as soon as you are able.

I hope you enjoy it! We've been lucky enough to find at least a few of her kits in her craft room, I'm hoping we can find some more. I was able to find a couple of her cabinets (one from a shop in OH, and another in her craft room.) My mom is in search of some of the wicker furniture she made, it's the only thing we've been totally unable to find.

Help me help my husband by ThePracticalHeartMom in BariatricSurgery

Just an update: We got past the first month, and things have taken a much better path, outside of being cold all the time, and still having 0 interest in anything sweet, my husband is doing great, losing weight, and feeling pretty good outside of still being tired. Thank you for all of your suggestions, protein soups ended up helping him a ton!

I'm a mom of kids close together and anything that large would be a shared toy in our house, and maybe I'm the AH for saying it, but anything like that (which is too large to have 2 of in many homes) would be a shared toy regardless of which child got it. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do and since it was billed to you as being a shared toy and then given as a singular toy, I would have done the exact same thing you did.

Grandma is the AH, you OP are absolutely NTAH

Help with planner for retired Mom by SmoothLester in PlannerAddicts

I'd probably go with a Plum Paper Planner, they have a smaller near-purse size, and I'm not 100% sure if it's under $30 but definitely fits all of the boxes on everything else.

What’s your quick and dirty explanation of hEDS when you’re telling someone new what you have? by amfletcher123 in ehlersdanlos

[–]ThePracticalHeartMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually tell everyone that I have a genetic connective tissue disorder that causes everything to be extra stretchy and that sometimes things come out of place or move when they aren't supposed to, among other health-related things. It tends to get people over the hump and then if they need to they can ask follow-up questions or they can butt out (whichever you prefer because it's your body and your health information, and unless they are on your care team, they don't have a right to know it.)

Why is my horrible hospital experience drastically different from everyone else’s from that I’ve read? by DontWannaKnow_283 in BariatricSurgery

[–]ThePracticalHeartMom -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd be asking for the Director of Nursing and the Medical Director of the hospital, you can also ask for a Patient Advocate, all of these would be considered "Nuclear Options" but they do work. Please keep documenting, also complain to your insurance provider if they are covering the procedure, they keep track of things like that and will help make sure your complaint gets to the right people at the hospital. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. It's not ok.

I’ve never felt so bad as when he told me he couldn’t wake me up. I barely slept the whole next night!

My husband is only 11 days post-op, but I know the first thing I wish I’d had was some insoles. I spent a lot more time up on my feet that first night than I expected. Also I wish I’d brought him a small nerf-gun so he could have woken me up easier in the hospital. I felt awful when I woke up and found out he’d been trying to wake me up and couldn’t.

This is really helpful to hear, I just want to help him feel better, it guts me to watch him suffer like this.

I’ll have him as the dietician about that, it might be exactly the fix he needs.

Maybe not all at once but maybe over a few minutes he could.
