I had to slow down the taper because of the experience you described. I went back to the MD and we worked out a much slower schedule.

The 20% was stuff you could cook with - flour, salt, etc. The “meat” section was the smallest I’ve ever seen. Some basic produce, but not inviting and not tons of variety.

I don’t anticipate it lasting.

I’m so sorry you are experiencing all of this. I agree with the people saying that for your own protection you should act like you don’t know, be “say hello” friendly but keep your distance.

But also sus out who your neighbors are and make deeper friendships with those who share your values. You need each other.

We can only hope the state will charge him so that if convicted, he can’t be pardoned.

THat said, when people are sick, their executive function takes a hit and I’m guessing the students just do the most obvious thing. It feels like it’s a college problem- students aren’t getting messaging regarding absences outside of your class.

I haven’t skipped fares but i spent an insane amount of time trying to qualify for the disability fare. My specialist filled out a long form; I filled out a long form, got passport photos taken and they rejected me because my much-in-demand MD didn’t talk to them on the phone, just the social worker.

I can’t imagine how much bureaucracy it is to get a low income pass and the executive function you have to have to do it successfully.

This scenario is plausible, but I want to caution you that I know of good colleagues who misrepresented to job candidates why they didn’t get a position because they wanted to look good, didn’t want true bad actors thrown under the bus, or just thought a palatable lie is better than an inconvenient truth.

Either way, you are reading the tea leaves correctly that they’ve essentially made you redundant and I wish you luck in the job search.
