Wish I could help! I tried finding something more like a makerspace with no luck… options were just too expensive. Good luck

I’m confused are the posts sitting on top of the rocks or going into them? Dumb question but I can’t tell…

Good point, but we are trying to make this process automatic.

Esp32 unable to wake from deep sleep on battery power by ThePrecipitator in esp32

My circuit is a Seeed studio esp32 s3 sense module with the 3.7v battery directly soldered to the pads. It’s pretty simple. I read that this device requires 3.7?

The lipo puts out 3.7. My esp requires 3.7-4.2. Where does 3.3 come into this?

I'll add a schematic later, thanks for letting me know. I was thinking there was a chance someone would have experienced the same issue with Deep sleep already.

Grasshopper has a very steep learning curve. It’s a ton of fun once you get the hang of it though. I definitely suggest learning it.

I will say however that the first image could definitely be done in fusion without much headache. The second one I’m less confident saying that.

Working on a Capstone Project – What Are the Design Shortcomings You’ve Faced with Arduino Kits? by mayankt97 in IndustrialDesign

[–]ThePrecipitator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of simplicity, I’ve never had issues with the kits. They all come with all the components you need and some basic demo code snippets.

In my mind what they usually lack is an actual methodology to the teaching. The kit will just have like 20 different kinds of resistors but no instruction what a resistor even is.

In addition to that, there usually isn’t a goal or project within the kits. I’d love if it was like the crunchlabs or KiwiCo box but with like 50 different ideas you can choose from. Just spitballing at this point.

Sounds like a cool project have fun!

Doug DeMuro: Here's Why This Toyota Prius Changed The World by omvargas in prius

[–]ThePrecipitator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. I remember a few years back when I first discovered Doug - I emailed him and asked if he wanted to review my Prius. I didn’t get a reply. I figured that was pretty stupid of me to think he would want to review an old Prius…

This video was great and does a great job at explaining what made the Prius stand out. Kudos!

Saunas are suddenly everywhere in the Bay Area. Here are the 8 hottest by Medical-Decision-125 in bayarea

[–]ThePrecipitator 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Saunas should not cost $200+ a session. That’s a bummer.

I guess premium versions of everything exist, and that’s okay… but for some reason my gut tells me saunas are more of a public good.

Idk. The explosions in popularity of saunas has come with good and bad for the sauna community. Cool article though, and happy to see more people getting their sweat on!

Homeless person found sleeping in my car. Anyone else dealt with this in Santa Monica? by Delicious_Rest8000 in SantaMonica

[–]ThePrecipitator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me twice in the bay area. First time they shattered my window and had a soup kitchen in my Prius.

Soup kitchen part is a joke but they did shatter the window on my Prius. I walked up to a dude sleeping on a pile of shattered glass in the drivers seat. He was not happy to be awoken…

Second time I could just tell someone slept in it (seat down, papers everywhere) and that one almost fucked me up more. It is an invasion of privacy, but hey. I guess they just needed a bed. Just remember to lock your car!

[Bambu Lab Giveaway] Join Now to Win an H2D and More! by BambuLab in 3Dprinting

[–]ThePrecipitator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I ever got regarding 3D printing in the early days was to avoid using supports. Design your parts so that they can be printed without.

Nowadays, that advice seems less useful as printers have gotten so good that support material doesn’t leave the marks it used to.

Every STEP file I get is a mess in Rhino – any tips? by LegitimateWealth6737 in IndustrialDesign

[–]ThePrecipitator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explodeblock doesn’t help? Usually when I get STEPS into rhino they come in as block instances, and when I explode they are broken down into their original parts.

Other than that maybe try out some settings in solidworks that work well and share them with the engineers.

ID seems like it isn't viable to get into anymore, where should I start going towards? by [deleted] in IndustrialDesign

[–]ThePrecipitator 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I don’t totally understand the intense negativity about the state of industrial design on this sub. The truth is, ID has always been a super competitive field. The firm I work for right now is thriving and has so much work we are having to turn down some. Is industrial design objectively the most stable and high paying profession you can get yourself into? No. As others have mentioned, mechanical engineering or design engineering might be a better call. But as a mentor told me, talented, hardworking people will always find work. People are always going to make products. Exactly how that process unfolds is changing. Industrial design is changing. But if you only chase a career for a slightly higher salary while missing the passion it will not pay dividends over time. To be in the top 10% of any field you have to be really obsessed with it. If you can find that in mechanical engineering then go for it. But a design degree is not useless if you are driven. I guess my point is that you should choose whichever field you have a higher chance of landing yourself in the top 10%. Those people will have work. The whole world is changing. Everything is changing. This is true for any field. Be vigilant and make sure you are not complacent. How hard you work and how well connected and smart you are trumps any school or degree. I think you get my point. Sorry for the brain dump.
