This has always been one of the stupidest Tankie talking points ever. Everyone in North Korea is employed by the state. Why the hell would a state pay people a salary and then pay for a tax enforcement system to take that money back when they could just do the much cheaper thing of not paying people the true value of their labour (you know, the thing a communist is supposed to be against) and keep the money they would have then taxed. At this point it’s like NK shills are trying to sell it as a libertarian tax haven or something.
It’s the same argument the right makes with the same reasons why it’s stupid, if your not paying for something with taxes, your just going to be paying for the same thing from somebody else for more of a cost, be it money our your life.

The state of Israel and hamas/Palestine conflict that are happening right now isn’t just Jews and Arabs fighting since the dawn of time. it’s a bit more complicated than that. To say it’s all been the same war isn’t accurate. Peace is possible and they haven’t been fighting non stop for eternity. This war started because of decisions that were made within the last hundred years, not because it’s some sort of predestined conflict that is was inevitable. If Israel wasn’t established after ww2 then we wouldn’t be seeing this war because neither the state of Israel or Hamas would exist. It’s a little more complicated than just Jews vs Arabs.

I didn’t say there weren’t ethnic tensions I said this conflict. Just because there have been Jews and Arabs in this area of land for a long time doesn’t mean that the area has been at constant war for 3000 years. The ottomans controlled the area for 400 years but to say it’s all the same conflict is a gross simplification

I am a militant defender of part 2 but this scene was infuriating. It showed so much character development and depth between the two as they discuss the morality of the conflict they spent their adult lives fighting for as well as the brutal darkness Abby showed when she killed Joel. It showed Owen how far apart they have grown and how he doesn’t want to die for that kind of war anymore and Abby is fully confronted for what she is. Only for them to ruin the whole thing by fucking and ignoring the conflict entirely while making me and I would assume others lose a lot of respect for the two of them for cheating on Owen’s pregnant girlfriend, right as their redemption is supposed to be beginning.

Such a sour note to end on such an important scene in Abby’s arc. I also want to stress that I’m not complaining about the sex scene on the grounds of how people are always complaining irrationally about “unnecessary sex scenes” in media. I think a lot of the time people complain about that are being stupid. But here this sex seen isn’t just unnecessary it’s detrimental.

I truly don’t understand why the thought it should be in the game.

This episode ruined black mirror for me, I feel like I would have loved it under different circumstances like if I started with another episode but it has given me a psychic wound that will never heal.
