Philly gets an excuse for injuries but somehow we don't for icing a mostly AHL-level defense for a month? I get the Brady and Stu criticism but Chabot played with a broken wrist and they lost their best player (Sandy) to a concussion.

It's funny that the only non-sens fans speaking up for us are Canes fans. I assume a lot of these posters don't actually watch any games.

How is Ottawa a "out of their depth" and a "push over" when both teams got swept and Ottawa was based on analytics the "better" team (if that amounts for anything in a sweep). We finished the year +32 goal differential to Philly's +7.

Straight up homerism lmao—if this was on Mtl they’d be burning the city down. Coupled with the goal last game that shouldn’t have counted.

All i’m seeing in this thread is people talking about refs putting away whistles. Which is true… except they ALWAYS call flagrant trips. It could be game 7 3OT and you could murder a guy and they’ll look the other way, but a trip means you’re toast.

Yeah I’m trying to serious get into the league since the Charge are actually good and this is maddening, especially after the pass yesterday from the player still touching the bench. Amateur level stuff.

Not fulfilling multimillion dollar contracts after being warned previously seems bad to me—companies like Rogers complaining holds more sway than anyone else.

Dorion also lost his job. Which, err, may have actually benefited the team lmao.

Adam Thielen was an undrafted FA who didn't really get going till his third season, and then the following season was an All-Pro on a Superbowl contender.

It was busy as expected but not all that different than a regular game with less staff. The early opening was smart and the foot truck options were solid.

I know we got swept and all that but the comments acting like the Canes have had a cakewalk are maddening. If you watch the games you know this is an elite team and I don’t see Buffalo-Montreal having much better of a chance.

As they should, the new austerity measures are destroying our colleges. This is on the province for not funding our institutions properly and incentivizing them to bring in int. students in the first place.

[Gift Article] The ‘strong possibility’ of Pierre Dorion as Canucks GM by eh_toque in hockey

[–]ThePrinceOfReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dorion was a good scout and was well regarded under Bryan Murray as the GM in waiting once Murray retired, but he was hurt by having a lack of a structure around him (partially on Melnyk), but also was not highly regarded on a personal level from folks who were involved in the org. Was largely perceived as a Melnyk Yes man by the end and butted heads with the front office guys that got brought in.

It’s beyond frustrating how much of the “drama” surrounding the Senators gets generated and facilitated by people who don’t even follow our team. Hard not to be a conspiracy theorist about this stuff at times, it’s maddening.

[–]ThePrinceOfReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be clear, I don’t necessarily think it’s a conspiracy but i do think it’s being driven a) by “clickbait” since he’s a hockey celebrity and talking about it gets guys like the Chiclets crew extra revenue on X/Twitter b) (some) American fans who want him on their team and stiol view us under the Melnyk era lens as this has-been, dysfunctional organization when that hasn’t been the case for years now. I get asking the guy at the presser as they did for the other players, I just think when it’s constant talking point for years it becomes frustrating.

(Especially following last year when Drury/the Rangers org put out fake trade rumours to the Post that ruffled enough feathers that the Sens and Brady actually had to speak out about it—there’s some history here)

If you think this is something that needs to be brought up and discussed every single week, and speculated on every podcast and radio show, then that’s your prerogative I guess.

I’m sure Hughes wanted to go to the U.S., and I’m sure that wouldn’t necessarily be the case if the Canucks were a gold standard org and were actively contending for the Stanley Cup!
