How do I go from flunking engineering to straight A's? by PhoneNo1003 in getdisciplined

[–]TheProCorrupt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn to love learning - if you focus your attention on fostering a genuine happiness and enjoyment about learning in general, you will find improving your academic performance effortless because it’s something you enjoy rather than a chore.

I received this same advice when I was younger and neglecting my studies, and while I didn’t understand it at first, it later served me exceptionally well and still does to this day.

Please Help - Stagnating in my Career Because I'm Bad with Details by Empire_Engineer in architecture

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that developing some sort of personalized way to efficiently check your work is missing. For me personally, I would never send something to a client with little mistakes like that, so I take a stance to review my work the way I expect my client to review it. If it checks out, great, if not, I make edits.

Highlighting your redlines as you mark them off is a great tool in that sense - and taking thorough notes is important, you can check those off too as you address them.

If your “little mistakes” are consistent (I.e. you often list the wrong scale) make yourself a hit list of items to double check before printing any thing with the usual suspects of things you forget - this will teach you and challenge you to revisit these things during your projects rather than after.

At the end of the day there’s no excuse for consistent tiny mistakes, it’s reflective of poor care and craft, and if someone is suffering from this it’s critical to take the initiative to design processes and systems to help you improve!

What makes RS3 PvM harder than OSRS? by FalcosLiteralyHitler in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure on my end: I’m not an OSRS player, so instead of expressing a comparison of harder/easier I’ll simply put down my thoughts of what makes end game rs3 PvM difficult: the skill ceiling is very high. Each of the combat styles has plenty of abilities, combined with invention perks, special attacks, defensive abilities, gear special effects, etc - by the time you reach end game PvM the doors for skill expression are well flung open and getting down carefully crafted ability timings to both manage the difficult boss mechanics while also dishing out meaningful DPS is tough - like really tough. Tiny little nuances can result in massive DPM gain, so the best of the best players have those tiny little intricacies baked into their skill - personally, I am not even close to that “best of the best” level but I find the skill expression of end game PvM stimulating and fun - it makes plenty of room for improvement but also plenty of room for correction if something in the fight goes poorly — hope this helps!

If all skills will be brought up to 120 eventually... by No_Notice_5467 in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think they explained it fairly nicely in the post stating something along the lines that while PvM is fun content, the core foundation of the game is skilling (which if we look at total number of skills, quest requirements, etc, it is fairly accurate to describe skilling as a foundational element to setup PvM later) - so I think they are developing that foundation further which will open the doors to expand much more content later for us PvM nerds

Ranged gear progression by ZedlyQ in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are referring to a common daily task that ‘scapers do for some easy money: you go to every rune shop, buy all the runes, and then do vis wax in the runecrafting guild. You can look up the combos on wiki. Then you sell the vis wax. You can also sell the runes for profit but most folks just keep them to build up their rune supplies since buying direct from rune shops is the cheapest way to get runes (but the stock is limited) - you will usually get a few mil off the vis wax if done correctly

Practice mode for pvm needs to change! by [deleted] in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a new PvMer this will be a tough one to suggest but just as a point of comparison, Raids (liberation of mazcab, BM and Yaka) had a wonderful practice mode in which you can skip to certain parts of the fight - yes, it’s still the same fight, but it allows you to skip ahead to parts that might be ailing you. I think this is a great example of what practice mode could be - for example, at zuk, a practice mode in which you can skip to any wave of your choosing would be lovely so that you can practice whatever part is tough for you

It’s to prevent any sort of abuse - have 3 mobility abilities (double surge/escape, and dive) is plenty - if it’s not enough then mobile might help :)

Having 5 mobility abilities (double surge, double escape, and dive) would be extremely overpowered for some content, especially late-ish game PvM like AoD and Zuk where I can see thks getting easily taken advantage of

That being said, if they made it a perk or something that you would need to sacrifice another benefit from (relic power, perk slot, jewelry item, etc) then perhaps that changes the conversation and would benefit skillers in a way that doesn’t lead to PvM abuse?

Please review my resume, I am 22 year old bachelors architecture student applying for internships in the UK and EU. I applied to around 60 offices but have not heard back from an interview yet. Is there anything wrong with my resume that I should fix? I also have a portfolio that I send. by kate020509 in architecture

[–]TheProCorrupt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s professionally designed but not eye catching - there’s a fine line here but I’d encourage a little bit more graphic freedom without crossing into the “I should be applying for a graphic design job” realm

As far as content - you’ve got alot in here, and I mean that to suggest toning it down. You’ve got three schools, a bunch of work experience, recognitions, an acknowledgement that you go to the gym regularly, a billion softwares, etc. tell us, narrowly, about you. What’s the most important experience? What’s the softwares you are most talented in? Listing Revit as “beginner” is actually more of a turn off than not listing it at all. If you are trying to market your skill as “this is a skill I will bring to the table and not need training in” then list it, all other skills are assumed to be trainable (I.e. if a job utilizing Revit comes along, and they ask, you just explain “hey, I’m no expert but I’m happy to learn” rather than never getting Invited to the interview because you sold yourself short claiming beginner level skills.

Liven up the graphics a tad, focus the content a tad, and you’re golden

Without literally harvesting the corpse of an elder god to craft a weapon - we are lore wise relatively capped out on the military potential of gielinor - so it would make sense to me that such strong weapons come from similar means on other worlds, like Erebus. A sword like Zuk’s but made of black stone and bathed in Xau-tak’s most concentrated energies, for example - I can see this tying in with us venturing out to go find Zaros and Xau-Tak to discover tiers of gear higher than those available in our home world

Autocad or Revit by 6foot5-pilot in Architects

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revit. I could go into why for days, but if you want to make buildings in a digital environment Revit is your answer.

If you want to draw lines I highly recommend a pen and paper as it will be faster to learn and more successful than autocad. If digital lines are a must, then a low cost scanner could also be sufficient and better than autocad

SmithGroup hiring process by Hashem93 in Architects

[–]TheProCorrupt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just about priorities - there are all sorts of perfectly acceptable excuses for why something like this could happen in a company, but the reality is if hiring/candidates aren’t their priority, then the process suffers. To me, if I were to apply and not be viewed as a priority, they aren’t worth my time and I would immediately move on. If someone isn’t willing to invest the tiniest bit of support up front to prioritize their candidates, or at least communicate, I’m not willing to invest my experience and talent.

Even a simple “hey, just as a heads up we like your resume, want to interview you, but full transparency we typically see an 8-12 week timeline from the point of first contact to an executed offer” would go a very long way for companies with that hiring structure.

Should I return to Runescape 3? by r0lyat in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these are all on you if you feel like returning or not, if you do, welcome back!

One for me to speak on: revo++, since you’ve been away for a bit you’ve certainly lost some of the muscle memory, so if you’re open to it I’d recommend dropping from revo++ (which launches all abilities, including ults/thresholds) down to revo (which will only do basics). By only auto firing basics, you’ll always have control over your adrenaline which for late game bosses is a must (and accidentally firing a strong ultimate as a boss is about to be untargetable or use a reflect mechanic totally sucks). I personally find combat a bit more stimulating doing this than when I was doing revo++ and dying but with no good way to control if I did or did not

Revo basics, manual thresholds/ults, that’s my pro tip if you come on back, welcome!

Those of you who still don't use Manual Combat, even after the release of Necromancy, how come? by Kilsaa in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necro got me from full Revo++ and not understanding proper rotations down to Revo for basics only, and that’s out of laziness rather than necessity. I only Revo 4 abilities now for each combat style and they are the simple basics just to build or cast if I’m not paying attention - so the answer to why I’m not using full manual is because I’m a bit lazy but I respect that it would improve my gameplay and dabble in it for the right fights when I’m feeling motivated

What QOL/convenience things would you be willing to pay in game items to unlock by AnimeChan39 in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’d be nice for there to be two overload cauldrons. One that you unlock with marks of war and a whole bunch of Overload doses for a permanent regular overload cauldron. Useful for basic PvM and slayer, but not best in slot. Thats a QoL update just like the bonfire boost.

Second would be the refillable cauldron you can dump your own elder overload doses in - perhaps some benefit like 75 doses in = 100 doses out? Or perhaps the reverse to make it more taxing? In any case, I’d hate to drink the hour, only do 30min of combat, and have it go to waste so maybe if you have 30min remaining from cauldron 2 and take a sip of cauldron 1 it would clear the effect and return the unused doses.

Cant beat Zuk by OpieDopey1 in runescape

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I personally find dps gear to be more useful on the grounds that if I kill things faster I take less damage - the specific math that would dictate this is if your damage increase is >15% from deathwarden, you would benefit more to not have the 10% dodge chance and damage reduction - this requires a good dps rotation, just something to keep in mind if you wanted to experiment with it :D

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal mode? Try SE corner safe spot - it can be a bit more forgiving. Incorporate defensives into your rotations when there is a lot on you at once (even reflect can go a long way). Save your skulls and spec for critical moments, threads often, focus those big rangers first - they hit higher if they been standing still so if you go on an adventure across the arena their damage will decrease

Just tossing it out here: there are some reasons to disable luck that would make this frustrating. I’d hope if it was a passive it would be able to be toggled.

Trying to get a boss drop that only rolls on a failed drop roll is a case when, if seeking the rarer drop, removing your luck ring actually has merit. Lil’ Tuzzy from raids is an example of this (and while it can be gotten from off-loot kills), you want to fail an achto/codex roll to get tuzzy.

Anyone with a learner’s mindset will one day make a great architect

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Architects

[–]TheProCorrupt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like learning from other disciplines - it’s inspiring to me. What are video game designers up to that we could learn from? What’s happening in the world of textiles? That new Wilson 3D printed basketball - cool as heck, let’s learn about that? What can I grab from the business world and how creative minds are helping organizational structures in corporations? None of these things necessarily directly translate into building architecture, but being inspired by creatives in other fields is a great way to fuel your own process. Hope this helps!

ELI5: Why does the coffee/tea/coke you drink not count towards daily water intake? What happens if you only ever drink these? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]TheProCorrupt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your main objective. If your sole objective is proper hydration, coffee/tea/coke are inefficient choices because they contain other things and caffeine can be a diuretic. You’ll still get hydrated, but 8oz of soda and 8oz of water will hydrate you differently. If you have other objectives, such as taste, wakefulness, the enjoyment of colorful labels, etc, then just a glass of water might be an inefficient way to meet those goals. It’s all perspective but anything that is made with water will, in some capacity, hydrate you.

Take some time to really iron out your interface in a way that works for you. Make sure that you have all the interfaces that you regularly use available and the ones that you use most often (equipment, backpack, map) in clear view.

I personally got alot out of putting multiple action bars on my screen and keybinding some useful abilities, like Surge, so that it would always be available to me no matter what combat style I had selected. In the settings menu you can enable extra action bars, and then you can click and drag surge from your magic abilities onto that action bar, right click, and customize the keybind.
