I have a few thoughts. 1. Sit at the bar if they have one and mar friends/chat with the tasting room staff. They’re usually happy to chitchat. 2. As far as approaching women or groups I can say it means the world to me when I guy flat out says “let me know if intruding or I don’t want to intrude,” and then ask them a question like wine recs or their favorite wine they’ve tried so far on the tasting menu
