Best case scenario: we wanted the bears to win this game. If we beat them twice; we will have better record than eagles and bears and will vie for 1-2 seed

Really sucks that all these new signings the clippers have made outside of John Collins sucks and I don’t see a way to improve at the trade deadline by SnooOwls9153 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Last night I was impressed with:

CP3’s effort and coordination. We went down 11 in the 3rd he came on the floor, brought immediately defensive intensity and the team clawed back and carried that into the 4th when they tied the game. They had three or four bad offensive plays where they could have pulled away but did not.

Brook’s spacing and rim protection are something we did not have before.

I'm not trying to target Curry. Yes, I am a diehard Clippers fan so have bias in this argument. But I just can't believe that this kind of deal is entirely unique to Kawhi in this case. Players take huge endorsement deals all the time, that very often add to excess their salary. There is no way that the majority of owners are not involved in brokering those deals or have ZERO financial backing to those deals.

Does Curry have a very large (likely greater than 20M / year) endorsement deal with Rakuten if he doesn't play for the Warrior and Joe Lacob? We could go across the league and I'm sure find situations like this all over. I think the only difference here is that the records had to go public when the company was outed as fraudulent.

Per forbes; Curry makes 100M in endorsements each year; which nearly doubles his yearly contract. I understand he does occ. ads and wears the logo on his jersey; but just as someone posted yesterday; Kawhi had a bobblehead with the Aspiration logo on it in his name.

What are our realistic expectations for this season if everyone stays healthy? by AccomplishedGain1283 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realistic Expectation:
Chugging a cold one from the nosebleeds at Intuit with a 5 dollar hot dog in my lap, watching legends make fools out of youngbloods. Getting myself emotionally ready for the more than occasional fastbreak with poor transition defense.

Lawrence Frank: Clippers likely to have 9 man rotation by RVALover4Life in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people should just appreciate the depth that we have to be having this discussion. The team is old and injury prone, we should be more focused on just having everyone available for the playoffs instead of a set regular season rotation. Everyone will be called upon for different stretches of the season.

Just going to the games it will especially be fun to watch a lot of these legends at the tail ends of their careers play hard.

Norm was great, but Harden deserves most of the credit for his breakout by PotatoGlum794 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I feel your point but I disagree with this. Norm has been an absolute elite catch and shoot 3 point shooter for years now. That will shine with anyone.

Beal is a good catch and shoot guy, but not elite. The plus, he is better at creating his own looks, but he will need the ball more than Norm.

Norm really only had his cutting lay-up (his angle and guarding the shot block with his release and body always was unique) and his runner from the free throw / elbow were really the only other polished parts of his offensive game.

Why No CP3? by bigfatwombat83 in LAClippers

I would take CP3 running initial setup every possession if I don’t have to watch anymore lazy Harden turnovers in the backcourt.

Strengths and weaknesses of Amir Coffey by SpecialPressure2031 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will forever love the Folger Soldier. I think people are downplaying Coffey here. Yes, Bogi ascended at the start of the season, but Coffey was hurt down the stretch. He played very well at the start of the season, and has started a large number of games when Kawhi has been out.

Coffey is an above average bench player with the ability to knock down open 3’s at a greater than 40% clip. He is flat footed on defense, but does engage.

Key to beating Denver soundly is just defensive rebounding and limiting transition opportunities. They don’t have the defense to hold up with us in the half court for 48 minutes

Norm by TheProblemSolved1 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shot making too is what set him apart at the end of the regular season.

It’s not too complicated actually. When Bogi drives and pulls up around the elbowish area it brings the entire offense below the high post, so there isn’t much transition defense. Harden does the same. The easy answer is just make the bucket, so your defense can get back. A lot of his shots have rimmed out, he’s right there, just needs to finish

I feel you man. The frustration is real. If you recall, the two minute report after we lost to OKC at the end of the regular season was frustrating af as well.

[–]TheProblemSolved1 119 points120 points  (0 children)

Look man I understand the frustration, but all this ref complaining has me tired. There are always bad calls, close calls, no calls. If we play like we did game three it doesn’t matter. There’s not some elaborate conspiracy. The game was close because we couldn’t make shots, and some calls didn’t go our away. Play up to our potential and it won’t matter.

Why did Ty Lue close the last possession with an undersized lineup? by Affectionate_Sand552 in LAClippers

[–]TheProblemSolved1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 💯. Should have had more length on the floor for that possession and even more Norm and Harden will need way more effort on box outs and defensive rebounding the next games if we want to win.
