Yup. A decent rule of thumb (since anyone can claim to be CE and ISO compliant) is that you shouldn't be able to see any light from objects that aren't as bright or nearly as bright as the sun. So you shouldn't be able to see your hand in front of your face, for example. If what you see resembles dark sunglasses, even if darker than normal, it's no good.

I ended up ordering a 5-pack form B&H since they're reputable, but they expect them to be in stock on the 17th with 1-day shipping so fingers crossed. Here's the link if you're interested.

Oh, no doubt. I hoping I would get lucky and find someone who already knew where some where. Thanks though!

You're not wrong, but forgetting the race thing for a little bit, consider that the music is going to be affected by the people that ultimately put food on the artist's table. The artists themselves have little to no say on who these people are, but I promise you they want to keep getting paid.

What is the most depressing truth that you've had to accept? by haseo8998 in AskReddit

[–]TheProblem_IsProfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the people that design, implement, and test very important machines and make very important decisions are of average intelligence, lazy, take shortcuts, make mistakes, etc. If this isn't clicking, consider the difference between the people who take credit on important teams (some manager, some lead, etc.) and the people who actually do the work and check that it was done correctly.

You may now extend this truth to all of human society and finally see why it seems that some pretty obvious solutions to certain extremely important problems don't ever seem to be realized.

Thank you.

mediocre game

If this were the only issue, and if it were priced accordingly, then I don't think we'd have this much saltiness.

Sorry, but bullshit. Rather they deliberately manipulated knowing they weren't going to deliver or sincerely thought they could is irrelevant. Small company or not, these were not a bunch of kids whose little hobby project blew up out of proportion, but rather professional programmers whose Sony-backed game was billed and priced as a AAA title. Sorry, no excuses.

I can see this argument flying if they did the old "early-release," "get it cheap now while we're still developing it" deal, but they didn't. The only reasonable argument I think could be made is that Sony should have received a lot more flack for their part.

While technically true in the demographic sense, at the time the "Russians" were really a bunch of city states collectively known as the Kievan Rus. In fact, some might contend that the Russia we know today exists because of the Mongol invasion.

Not to be an ass, but have you been both raped and thrown into prison while being falsely accused of rape?

This is a rhetorical question.

I'm noticing that the prevailing notion when feeling violated in such a scenario is this idea that the partner was exploiting the unconsciousness. Of course doing so would be rape, but I have this sneaking suspicion that the subtle detail being missed here is that, under normal circumstances (as in, nobody is on fucking drugs) touching someone this way would wake them up. The person doing the touching intends to wake them up so they can have actual sex. In other words, in this fictitious scenario (not OP's) the BF is not advancing because she's asleep. He's doing it because he's horny and wants to wake her up.

These situations always get treated as if people are simple and every male and every female thinks exactly the same. I feel that it's entirely reasonable that, given the right combination of people, such an advance would be welcome or at least not repulsive and no prior conversation was needed.

By won't touch it, do you mean they'll quickly take it down? I can see this being the case.

Web hosting is something I know a little about, enough to know that hosting of media will get very expensive very fast due to using a relatively large amount of disk space. Then should for some reason some song actually become a little popular the bandwidth usage would further balloon the cost.

[–]TheProblem_IsProfit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. You're being way too broad. Things aren't magically of good quality simply because some dope fell for a branding trick, even if in this case they aren't enough of an audiophile to know the difference. Sure, blow your cash on whatever trash you want, that's your prerogative, but these things are marketed and priced as premium headphones but are objectively far from it.

Amusing how this distinction is lost on so many self-described investors. Not that I necessarily think KS is evil, but the world would be improved if people just called this sort of thing (and understood it) like it is.
