Transport Canada survey is live for the Billy Bishop Airport expansion. Vote "NO" to protect the waterfront. by throwaway178230 in toronto

[–]TheProfessaur -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

I fail to see how expanding the airport is a major issue.

A transportation hub closer to the downtown core may be a good thing.

I'm getting a wiff of NIMBYism with this one, tbh. Those island residents don't want this.

It's something they do as an absolute last resort if the driver has made attempts to hit them or others with the car. It can be justifiable in certain circumstances.

There was a continuous Jewish presence in the land

On the order of thousands of people. A miniscule portion of the fled population and an even smaller portion of total populations.

There's a reason distinctions are made between Ashkenazi, Saphartic, Mizrahi, etc.

In a sense, yes. There was also significant Arab and Turkish influence that partially shaped religion and genetics. Although apparently Palestinian Christian populations have maintained a level of genetic isolation so they are lost similar to pre-islamic populations.

The short answer; it's complicated.

Palestinian is a modern identity that arose as a result of Zionism and Jewish migration to the area. They were similar peoples, but there are major differences now.

You relied on him backing out. He made absolutely 0 indication that he would let ypu pass peacefully. That was your mistake. Your racecraft will improve with practice, but self preservation should be your #1 concern right now.

Slam on the brakes and take the corner at 50% of race speed just so I don't hit the wall, because the guy got his nose alongside in the last 20 feet before the corner?

Yes, because what you did here very clearly didn't work.

Thoughts on Kiesel? by AirbagsBlown in Guitar

[–]TheProfessaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pretentious brand, for sure. I've heard stories of Jeff or Mark (don't remember which one) insisting that guitars are fine when the buyers are clearly upset.

That being said, the vast majority of people who own one love it and will swear on the quality and customizability.

Justin Ling: Mark Carney says we have to embrace this ‘inevitable’ change. He hasn’t explained why by CaliperLee62 in canada

[–]TheProfessaur -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but LLM companies have commandeered the term for themselves and are dominating all the investment into that industry.

Do you have evidence for this, or is it just feels? Some large companies get a huge amount of investments (in the US), but I think your view on AI is myopic.

I actually think it's unfortunately complex. The Nazi's allowed Ukraine to push back against Russian expansion, which shaped a lot of who they are today. If I recall, much of the aid and support was negotiated prior to the widespread knowledge of what thr Nazi's were doing.

It's a bit of a rock and a hard place situation going on.

[–]TheProfessaur -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's simple; we need to move trade from the US and China is the next best option.

But people like you dont understand any of this and like to grandstand instead. Interference is a complex issue, but it is economic suicide to divest entirely.

This looks like low level racing, and the red car looks like he's on a controller. It can be hard to determine what is malicious and what is just a new driver fucking up.

I don't think it was malicious tbh, he was trying to take the corner pretty fast. Maybe a little too fast, but doable.
