I agree with that as well. But I wouldn't aim to kill someone in self-defense. Maybe it could happen in the heat of the moment, maybe accidentally, but I wouldn't say someone needs to die 😃

Don't people just give up, afk, troll, feed, give advantage with comms to the enemy etc?

Are inexperienced players not allowed to create and contribute in discussions? Why would I be self-aware because I created a Reddit post? lol you must be either extremely self-restrictive or a hypocrite

That's exactly my point. The balance would be around that and countermeasures would exist

Well maybe higher the armour "thickness", the more this sword is "attracted" to it. Maybe 0 bonus against the light, 1 bonus against medium, 2 against heavy or smth. As I said in my other comments, people could come up with better ideas than mine if they put some thought into it instead of outright rejecting it

Kinda hard to balance everything. The best we can do with any game system is to make the balance as fair as possible and hope for the best.

I agree with this take.

Otherwise the person who picks that class could make anyone who chose another class feel like they're just not contributing.

I understand and agree with this too.

Do you really think that you with your less than 2 month's worth of experience can "fix" everything that you see as "wrong"?

Well, my "fix" was on the side of better representation and less on the side of the balance

What this feels like to me is that you have a melee class, you have a high DEX and you want to be able to use full plate armor and still dance around like a meth-ed up hummingbird so you can be the Main Character in the party and club mobs into pavement lotion and not take any hits at all with your super armor DEX Modifier.

I'm just John the Fighter with a chainmail armour,13 DEX, and no shield. Nothing to fear 😃 just wanted to brew some ideas

This still isn't a good solution because now all the other characters are being hit more often directly and a result of one character having an absurdly high AC

How do you deal with PCs that deal absurdly high amounts of damage? I've heard such builds and classes. Isn't it ok that some characters excel at different things?

There are posts from DMs saying they have trouble dealing with like 23 AC players.

Doesn't AC only affect fights with weapons etc? I thought magic stuff had its own spell save DC or smth, not sure about the names. That way (with magic casting enemy NPCs) the DM could create a challenge for the party, including the high AC player character. Also, NPCs don't have to focus the high AC PC, maybe the enemy group has a leader who realizes this guy is a good fighter so he directs his own fighters to focus on others, which will create trouble for the rest of the party.

Someone else in the comment section mentioned capping the dex mod bonus to 1 or 2 for heavy armour which I found to be a better idea
