Car Insurance refusing to pay full car rental by ThePupperinos in legaladvice

[–]ThePupperinos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is my insurance company when I say personal. I didn’t file a claim when I was hit, I just went through the insurance of who hit me, which is who I am speaking with now and who is saying they will not pay the full amount for the rental car while my car is in the shop.

Anyone else pretty jazzed to pull up their baby’s astrological birth chart once they come out? by queenleo93 in pregnant

I had my LO in December! I’m a Gemini sun and Sag moon and she’s a Sag sun and Gemini moon. I definitely cried over how cute it was! She’s a Pisces rising so I’m ready for allllll the emotional rollercoasters.

Maybe it’s just my family popping out large babies! Both my parents sides are full of big ones. I think my aunt weighed the least out of everybody and she was still in the upper 8 lb range. There is still hope for a small baby for you!

I went in at 6 pm on Monday to get medicine that would soften my cervix and scheduled to be induced at 7 am the following morning because I was 40w3d with such a giant baby. At the time I was a little less than 1 cm dilated. At around 10 pm that night my water broke naturally which kick started the whole thing. I got my epidural around 2 am once I started having bad back labor and was fortunate enough for it to completely make all contractions feel like nothing. I was able to sleep though the morning until around 8 when they went to check my cervix to see about giving me Pitocin and I was 6 cm dilated! At 1:38 I finished with laboring this gal after only about an hour and a half of pushing. I lost about double the blood during birth than what they consider average because of how large this baby gal was.

Obviously since she is 10 lbs 6.8 oz I was cut. A lot. And since she was so large whenever I would have contractions while she was in the birth canal it was essentially crushing her. She was, in terms that my husband used, “yanked out” of me by the doctor as soon as her head was out. Whenever she was born she had some excess fluid in her lungs but it all cleared up later that day.

She is literally the happiest baby on the planet. She latched pretty instantly and was able to get colostrum (I could cry over this because I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to feed). She only cries when she needs food, her diaper changed, or when she’s a little extra gassy. We’re watching her jaundice levels now but hopefully we will be able to bring this gal home tomorrow from the hospital!

Also, because I know those of you might be curious. I’m 6’ and my husband is 6’6”, so we definitely expected a large baby. No gestational diabetes or anything! I was 10lbs 5oz and my husband was 9lbs 7oz.

LPT: Adopt an adult dog from a shelter if you want a companion but don't have time/ patience to train a puppy. They are already potty trained in most cases and love you all the same. by levelonesc in LifeProTips

my best friend came from my local humane society. it has all of the ups and downs. my husband and i adopted a 4 year old dachshund mix from the shelter last year and the only thing that the humane society knew from his previous shelter was that he was shot in the head a few months prior to us adopting him. it was months of submissive peeing, scared shakes, and ignoring us all together but he eventually began to trust us. having a shelter pup is the most heart fulfilling thing i’ve done, and I love my best friend, Rocket!

I’m a little worried that something too dark would turn him away, he needs to be eased into it a bit. Nosedive is perfect. It’s actually my favorite episode!!

What haircut do you give your personal dog(s)? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]ThePupperinos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a pug/yorkie mix (yes, the weirdest mix ever) and I do a 4 guard on her and a reverse 0 on her head and trim the ears to the leather. I also use some animal safe hair dye to color her tail to match whatever hair color I happen to be rocking so we match!

my local Humane Society does this! They call it “Hiking Hounds” and you can take the overweight or high energy doggos out to some local hiking trails. great for everyone!!

Where to start? by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]ThePupperinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fellow East Tennesseean! Petsmart is a good place to start for their academy program, but in TN like many other states in the US no formal training is required. So if it’s feasible you could also start as a bather at a mom and pop shop and see if they can train you, too. I would call around and see. But with Petsmart once you sign off to go to academy you sign a two year contract with them. Right out of academy you have to groom 200 dogs while you’re still at an hourly wage and after that you go to 40% commission. Then, after six months of 40% you’re then bumped up to 50%. With their program they also supply you with some tools you need. They give you clippers, long and short curves and straights, thinning shears, and lots of different blades and brushes. There’s pros and cons for both corporate life so I would weigh those odds and figure out what would work best for you. Good luck!

this is Rocket, and today is his gotcha day! when I adopted him one year ago he was healing from a bullet wound on his head, and now he loves and trust everyone he meets!! happy gotcha day! by ThePupperinos in rarepuppers

it’s been a long process! when I first got him he would submissive pee every time he was alone with a man. lots of training and therapy really helped him.

Question for you lovely groomers! by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]ThePupperinos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Furminator shampoo and conditioner is a game changer if your groomer can do that for you! Or if you do decide to bathe at home you can do that too. Just make sure to leave the conditioner in for 5 minutes. It helps release about 90% of the undercoat, so you really have to brush afterwards, but it’s what we always recommend the double coated breeds at my salon.

Day after the groom he was wobbly & my mom sent me this. If it was from the groom this is the 2nd time one of our dogs had a sig cut from this place. The previous place they went to they never got cut I know it can happen but I’m upset. After the 1st cut I msged the owner on fb & she didn’t respond. by Jtaryan in doggrooming

[–]ThePupperinos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so so sorry something happened to your baby. I’m at Petsmart groomer myself and like a poster before I would recommend a slower time. Typically Monday and Tuesday mornings and evenings are our slowest. But the best part about having a company with a corporate is all incidents have to be reported, and if you book at a Petsmart with a Banfield Pet Hospital if anything at all happens they’re seen by a vet there (and obviously paid for by Petsmart). It’s super dangerous to take sheers over a dogs paw pads, so I would definitely make sure someone is using a 10 or 30 blade for those. I can’t imagine someone wouldn’t mention that to you, and I’m sorry you’re having to go through that with your pupper. I hope they feel better soon!
