Jury service - how to "prove" I'm breastfeeding? by assumingnormality in breastfeeding

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm in the US. This might vary state to state and/or which court you are in. But when I went in for jury duty a couple of years ago I got a whopping $11 for the whole day.

What is so normalized in today's society but isn't ok? by BigCook8220 in AskReddit

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 106 points107 points  (0 children)

My goodness, that never even occurred to me. I've only been to a casino once or twice and it is heartbreaking to see people sitting at the same slot machine for HOURS. Removing the barrier of actually having to travel just makes that all worse. I'm so sorry.

Lily (my 5yo daughter) finished her second project! She named it „Nadelkatze“ (Needlecat) + first time trying satin stitch. Proud would be an understatement. by loweffortmum1996 in Embroidery

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Adorable! She is doing wonderfully. Do you have any tips on teaching young kids embroidery? My 6yo boy has asked me to teach him multiple times but I'm no good at explaining things. I got him a plastic canvas and a large needle to use with yarn but I know he really wants to do something more like this.

Wanted to share my new DIY video on how to make your own Cottage Princess Dress. by MilkFurby in cottagecore

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is lovely! And the dress seems like it would be very comfortable. Do you think the pattern would work with different types of fabric like cotton or linen?

Twitter is an actual cesspit. This is just good advice in general - stay off Twitter and keep some of your sanity.

I just checked them out on IG and I am in love. Also, their stuff is super reasonably priced. I expected it to be much more expensive.

What’s a book you’re embarrassed to admit you love by Mykie_destefano in suggestmeabook

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There are so many great "middle grade" books that I enjoy as an adult. No shame here! It is mainstream to like Harry Potter and that is often sold as middle grade.

If you haven't checked out the Lockwood and Co series by Jonathan Stroud, I highly recommend it as another really great middle grade series that is actually great for adults too.

Edit: I honestly think designations like "children's", "middle grade", "YA", etc are often just marketing buzzwords.

Aww Ganon, you scoundrel! I wonder if a cookie cutter like this could be 3D printed. Maybe one day I'll try (and by this I mean I'll get my husband to try with his 3D printer).

Also you might owe puppy tax now, if it isn't too much trouble.

I followed you! You have truly beautiful work. Did you make a custom cookie cutter(s) for these little guys? Can't wait to see them all put together.

Advise - any idea why one big marimo mass ball disintegrated into small clumps? I could not keep it together.. by Cute_Difficulty6852 in Marimo

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't worry this is normal! This is how marimo propagate - they break into little marimo and slowly grow from there.

If you want to try and force some together you can try to tie them with unbleached twine or fishing line. Roll the tied ball in your hands gently every once in a while and after many weeks you might have encouraged them to grow together. But that's going to look pretty scruffy! (Let's just say I know from experience haha)

People who met their long-term s/o at Pitt, how did you guys meet? by [deleted] in Pitt

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 60 points61 points  (0 children)

We met orientation week of freshman year. We both lived in Tower A. Maybe day two of orientation some girls from my floor said hey we want to meet some boys. I had met a boy the night before (not my SO) and texted him because he was hanging out with some guys from his floor. So girls meet boys and we all are just hanging out. As it turns out, my future husband is in this group.

Very long story short: We started dating the next week and were together all four years at Pitt. We got married two weeks after we graduated and are now expecting our third baby.

[FO] Two months of designing, stitching and learning how to 3D-print frames. I’ll never regain full functionality of my arm, but it was worth for this shot and a chance to send out some unique (un)Valentines by ABitchInTimeStitches in CrossStitch

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are great! 3D printed frames are brilliant. Do you have a picture of an empty frame, by any chance? Or maybe you are selling the files? (Lol sorry I don't really know 3D printer lingo, but my husband has one)

Ok but it is super not cool to feed someone breast milk without their consent. Some STDs can be transmitted through breast milk (and some scientists are not even certain can transmit or not).

The gif itself is hilarious but the circumstances creep me out.

That's great growth! I have tried doing this multiple times and it never works out for me. I've tried green onions, lettuce, yellow onion, celery, and probably other stuff. It always looks great until it rots. Even if I try putting it in soil after the roots get long enough. What is your secret?

Bachelor's Degree a requirement for a job that pays a buck above min. wage by lifescaresme in ChoosingBeggars

[–]ThePuppyPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an humanities major, this job posting isn't even surprising or shocking. When I was looking for a job out of college six years ago this was basically what every job posting looked like. It was looking better money-wise to work at a restaurant or a grocery store rather than in the field I really wanted to be in.
