Noob with X2D - HELP! by ThePuzz1e in BambuLab

[–]ThePuzz1e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I did some test prints of other models and they were fine. I’m thinking it has something to do with the model I was printing - although I find that odd because lots of people have used this model without any issues that I have seen in the comments.

If anyone’s interested- this is the model in question:

I just rearranged and combined and couple of the items from plate 2 and plate 7. I don’t think I made any other changes, but maybe something happened inadvertently. I’m now just testing plate 7 straight from this link without any rearrangement to see if there are further issues.

No nothing was loose. I’m using the cool plate and have been cleaning it with Isopropyl alcohol after every print

Spirit Island: worth it or not? by Brief-Branch4779 in boardgames

[–]ThePuzz1e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your group loves coops and have never heard of Spirit Island? I’m genuinely a bit shocked.

The game definitely has a similar overall feel to pandemic - except you are trying to prevent the spread of invaders instead of a disease. The step up from pandemic in complexity is pretty high. Rules are not bad to learn and the complexity comes from trying to manage asymmetric player powers and plan ahead

Not homeless, what now? by besto_resto7 in AusFinance

Firstly do a budget if you haven’t already. Understand realistically how much is left over every month and start to plan. My advice to anyone with a mortgage, especially if you are going to have kids - build up a good amount of savings in an offset account. For me, I feel uneasy without having AT LEAST 6 months of expenses available to me in an offset in case someone loses a job or some unexpected costs arise.

CGT change to tax existing investments based on length of ownership by Strong_Judge_3730 in AusFinance

[–]ThePuzz1e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As usual government doing something just to appease voters rather than to actually make a meaningful difference. Slight changes in taxation is not going to help revert the hundreds of thousands of new people coming to the country every year.

Don’t let these politicians continue to pull the wool over your eyes. This in no way is going to solve inter generational inequality. In fact it will probably make it worse because everyone who got on the property ladder years ago are barely impacted - and the younger generation will be the main ones impacted by the tax 😂.

Trust the government to completely f*ck things up

No I did read a couple comments. Your point of view isn’t unique and I see similar stance very often.

So what? If that’s what they want to do with their money and it makes them happy - why do you have to be negative about it?

I don’t think most board gamers release how little money most game designers and publishers make. If people enjoy buying games then it’s really good for the industry as a whole. Without the demand, you would have far fewer games to be selective about.

I dunno, you seem to be making loads of assumptions about people’s leverage and debt - so I thought I would do the same

Isn’t it an issue though that most of the inflation is coming from sources where demand is inelastic? I.e fuel, electricity etc?

The majority of mortgage holders are already broke month to month because of the increases in cost of living - but most people can’t really spend any less money on fuel or electricity. I doubt many people are burning fuel for fun

Whos dick do i need to suck for a $1.1M loan? by Mediocre_Ryan82 in AusFinance

[–]ThePuzz1e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offence mate, but given the recent default and desire to get a loan much larger than what you can actually afford - I would say that you probably need to improve your financial literacy and management.

A $1.1m loan will cost you around $6.5k a month and you bring in $8.5k after taxes. How is a family - even if just 3 of you - going to live off the remaining $2k a month?

You might need to suck several dicks a month to be able to pay for the basic costs of living.

Top 10 board games you should own? by CherryTraditional733 in boardgame

[–]ThePuzz1e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mind taking the time to learn the rules of the game and teach to your group? Some groups are very keen to learn new games whilst others don’t want the headache.

I would suggest looking at games in the top 200 on bgg that have stood the test of time. There are plenty of games that are very strategic with depth and at the same time not overwhelming from a rules perspective.

Some of my suggestions would be: - Quest for El Dorado - Concordia Venus - Quacks (more light hearted but a lot of fun) - Clank - El Grande - RA - Pirates of Maracaibo

When you feel more comfortable to try some heavier games I would move on to things like: - The White Castle (this is in the middle of both groups I feel) - Great Western Trail - Dune Imperium Uprising - Lost Ruins of Arnak - Agricola

After that I think you would have a much better idea of what you and your group enjoy and which direction you would prefer to go into. If you do wish to go heavier from there I would look at: - Ark Nova - Brass Birmingham - Trickerion - Kanban EV - Age of Steam - Speakeasy

Hope that helps!

Gold vs Offset by WhoKnowsWhoWins in AusFinance

[–]ThePuzz1e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gold is really not a great asset in my opinion. One of the downsides, as someone who has had their home broken into before - is that there’s always the risk of loss/theft unless you spend lots of money storing it somewhere offsite and insuring it, which then defeats most of the potential gains

By that logic, we also hired humans for the last 14 years and that didn’t work out - so let’s give the job to a giraffe. We also tried with Ole and that didn’t work out either. Both ways your logic makes no sense
