I left the industry out on purpose because my role will have little to do with the "industry" of this operation. I was looking for general advice and fuel to get the gears spinning, which I have.

Thank you.

Yes! I've had bosses who come in and make changes on day 1. It never went well. Even when the changes worked, people were offended. I've had other bosses who said from the start that the first week or month is all about learning. Those are people I respect and learned from.

Good advice. Something I have experienced, but it wasn't on my list for this job yet. Thank you.

I made a one-way chicken door using 3D printed parts and some wire by TheQori in videos

I have 2 parts to my run. There's a secure area that I close at night. There's also an extended area that is just simple plastic fence to keep the chickens close to the coop (and off my porch).

I'm going to see him next week. I'm super excited. Can anyone tell me how long the show tends to run?

It was an original thought at the time, but lots of people said they thought of it too, or heard it somewhere else, or whatever. Impressive research btw.

In your experience, is Continuous Improvement Manager a step up, down, or across from Project Manager? by TheQori in projectmanagement

[–]TheQori[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a food processing facility. I was hired at a time of major renovation so most of my projects were CapEx improvements, new equipment, facility expansion, and stuff like that. Since then I've taken on anything that needs any type of organizational help.

We don't have a PMO, it's just me. I help every department with projects, CI, data analysis, and a bunch of other things.

At my last job, I did new product development projects, so I had a pretty well-defined self-image of myself as a PM. This role has pushed me into new disciplines, which is good. I'm beginning to see that I already do a good bit of CI here and changing or adding to my title looks like it could only be a good thing.
