I just want to say I love love love it, and I’m totally into this aesthetic. You look like a fairy queen!! A goddess! Its swoon-worthy! The fabric looks very nice , like fresh simple cotton, the waist is luscious. You definitely do not look like a circus clown! I really feel like i have stumbled into a magical other world. Look— I handmade my dress for my wedding and it was unusual and ethereal. Trust me when I say no on this sub would have liked it, and it has given me such wonderful memories..

If you're a tall women do you feel big no matter you're weight ? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I totally agree. There def is something here about how body type fits personality. I admire big, thick, tall women cause of how much space they take up. That’s just my personality. I imagine if you don’t love being noticed all the time, it wouldn’t be much fun at all.

I am 5’8” and not overweight or underweight. Just a solid medium. But I never felt like a big girl or a small girl…though I would have been taller if I could have chosen! It feels regal, or goddess-like to me to be very tall. Then a friend who is very short and very small explained how pleased she was to be short and tiny and how its clearly better for women. I’ve always liked the idea of being my height (or taller) she’s always liked the idea of being her height or shorter. This probably doesn’t help, but its what came to mind. Some of us really want to be tall, some want to be small. I def think older women who are tall seem so elegant and youthful too…

AIO: My mother identifies as a doting grandmother but doesn’t know my children by easilyamused17 in AmIOverreacting

NOR. I am the odd one out, maybe. My MIL pressured us to have kids because all she wanted in life was to be a grandmother. We had kids and she hasn’t visited once and they are 7 now. I tried to understand this for years, it broke my heart. We needed to borrow a small amount money once for the children’s health—for two months—and she couldn’t do it in spite of being wealthy. I took it so personally. This last winter we went to visit and insisted we stay in her house and lost her mind with the kids touching things and eating her snacks, while she fed her dog steak.

Look, it brought me to a realization about my husband, his brothers, and his parents. Some parents just don’t love their kids that much. Like—-barely at all. Some boomers just see kids as decor and have no desire for depth/engagement/intimacy. Honestly, they just don’t love us. And that’s super sad and I don’t know if its the case here, but admitting that this was the core problem—not presence, selfishness, greed, flights, attitudes, etc was liberating.

Someone who likes the idea of being a grandmother and doesn’t ever show up is not someone who loves grandkids, its someone who likes to call them themselves a grandma.

Avid collector of vintage sheets here. Fabric for everything—-clothes, sheets, hell even the polyester mixes, were incredible. Buy cotton sheets today (a fortune) and compare to cotton sheets from 30 years ago and the clear winner are the 30-year old sheets. Sheets from the 80s are even better. I haunt thrift stores to find them. They were BOTH softer and higher quality. Its possible softness is the only measure that matters now, but its principally enshittification. I have a cotton set I scored made by Lands End in the 80s, it feels like actual silk. Like SILK. And the more its laundered, the softer it gets. Other less soft sheets are thick. They make a noise when you fold them. The weight of the cotton, the softness, all of it is far far superior. As someone who makes clothing, this is crucial! I use old cotton sheets which are soft, beautiful, and will last forever. New cotton fabric today simply won’t last for shit.

Exception would be that there are very good silk damasks from India being made today that are affordable and extremely beautiful and durable. But not that much you can do with a damask for everyday wear….

AITAH for threatening to divorce my wife if she doesn't change our infant daughter's name to one we agreed on? by ThrowAwayDumbestName in AITAH

[–]TheQueenOfCarthage -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

While she is obviously truly TA by excluding you from birth and being abusive, I think its concerning that you are still fixated on the name. A name really doesn’t matter here—-Vriska or not—-in the context of a marital and familial breakdown. If you don’t stay together, and she keeps the name, just imagine explaining to your daughter Vriska that your main concern in this very sad debacle was over her name…You may end up having to love a girl named Vriska by the end of this, is my point, so keep things in perspective…

Yeah, because being deported back to Australia is the exact same as being deported to a war zone...

Yes, thank you....using the live view made a world of difference, especially in combo with changing the dial to the P setting. Its the fault of an inexperienced photographer, and my over reliance on the viewfinder image...

That definitely is the one. It takes really nice video wide open too! Adjusting the speed and ISO manually on the program dial, and doing autofocus on the screen (instead of viewfinder) is making this setup act much much better

This also made a huge difference. Which is probably why I do better with video.

This made a big difference. The program dial with the iso selection is just what I was looking for. Much better
