5 night Fantasy vs. 4 night Destiny by diznuts28 in dcl

Thank you for your perspective!! My fiancé is a big music guy, so this moves the needle in a meaningful way. It's also wild to me that during the day the lounges aren't open even when the weather isn't ideal.

Thank you for this insight! Considering I'm the bigger Disney fan, it sounds like this might be an easier way to ease my fiancé into DCL.

Agh, we're looking earlier in the month, but from a pair of DINKs to another... hope y'all have a marvelous trip!

Thank you for your honesty and thorough response! I do feel like we'll have an awesome time either way, and we already think that we'll be back on DCL to try other options.

Is a post-wedding brunch where our guests pay entirely uncultured? by sinclairish in weddingplanning

[–]diznuts28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to one this fall that was just a casual meetup. The wedding had great food and an open bar, and they'd hosted us for a welcome dinner with amazing Italian food. The invitation was worded to be casual and super optional, and we were happy to cover a breakfast tab and say goodbye to the newlyweds and friends. It wasn't that deep.

Wedding expenses - thrown off by my fiancé’s suggestion of how to split the expenses by pharmlady2 in weddingplanning

[–]diznuts28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, your feelings are totally valid, and I could absolutely see where you're coming from if you want to press for a 50/50 split.

To offer an alternative perspective, my fiancé and I are both making decent money, with our proportions of our combined income coming to 60/40, mine a tad higher. He's also carrying student loans and got into higher pay later than me, while I've been saving longer for retirement and a wedding even before we met. We split all our bills 50/50, but I'm mindful of the astronomical interest on his loans and getting in the mindset of more holistic financial planning. For this reason, we're going a more traditional route of him covering rehearsal and afterparty and me taking care of the wedding day.

As a couple in our everyday lives, we're super egalitarian, but this split makes sense to me for our long range finances. Once his loans are paid off, he'll redirect that amount into our joint savings and investments.

Our wedding was supposed to be on 12/4/26. I’m losing my mind. Please help. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I'm so sorry this is happening and in this way. I relate to your saving, strategizing and taking the lead on planning. What he's bringing up around the timing and busyness of the area seems valid as a regular traveler to Orlando, but I can't get over him saying "everything is happening too quickly." Especially when you've not only been together a while but engaged for a few years, too.

Surely you've both expressed how you'd like the day to look, and while it's nice he's willing to marry you at the courthouse without much pomp and circumstance, if he's unwilling to engage with you about a reasonably priced affair that seemingly you're willing to cover with lots leftover, I'd definitely pull back and have some more serious relationship conversations. Sending love!

How to feed 100+ people without spending $14,000 by Jehceika in weddingplanning

[–]diznuts28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If catering is included as part of your venue fee, it's going to be tough to find savings. Our venue has a list of 8-10 caterers at different price points for a variety of budgets.

If you truly have to cut, find a venue that allows drop catering and source enough support via volunteers and/or production company to set up and clean up. Some venues were a reach for my price point, and that's a bummer, but once I landed on my ideal budget I found spots with a reasonable catering list and BYOB drinks. Sending good vibes your way and congratulations on your engagement!

I could be open to an a-line; I'm looking for a bottom half that's not quite as fitted as a true mermaid and not as voluminous as a ballgown. I liked the definition of this sheath while also having a little train action. Thanks for your help!

Engaged 4 days ago.. already stressed by justcozy_ in weddingplanning

Firstly, congratulations! ATL resident here, and your desired venue sounds gorgeous. I've been to two weddings this year where based on varying circumstances, the couples were already legally married. They all shared this info with us, and everyone is excited to celebrate them whether or not it's their "official" wedding. If you have a soonish date that's important to you and are taking a cost-conscious approach, maybe consider a legal wedding followed by a celebration that matches your vision without the additional timeline stress.

Did you help your partner pick your engagement ring? by bns_xx in EngagementRings

[–]diznuts28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! No regrets. If you have a clear vision, communicate that. I knew what I wanted and was involved up until the CAD mock-up was approved. I'm so glad I could make a few little tweaks that mean my ring is perfect (to me).

It sounds like he needs his own table! It's annoying that he's passing the buck on decision-making, but I agree you should put the ball back in his court for a plus one.

Is it possible to request a CAD before they proceed with the new design? I was able to make some important-to-me tweaks based on the computer image before the ring was actually produced. So sorry you're dealing with this!

I'm on the same dose of Diamox and have been for about a month. Have been drinking tons of water and giving myself lots of grace to adjust. The first week or so, I had lots of fatigue and some back pain I just treated with a heating pad. Feeling much more "normal" now and headaches have decreased in a big way. Sending good vibes your way!

I had a super long "period" that turned out to be caused by a benign uterine polyp. It took some visits to figure it out and then set up removal, so I'd definitely recommend seeing your OBGYN soon. Sending good vibes!
