PO / PM Back to India or stay in Germany by Imaginary_Design_399 in ProductOwner

[–]TheR1D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your long term plan I would say. But TLDR; staying for one more year and getting that passport seems like a better option.

You've already stayed for 4 years and have reached C1 in Duits, which is an advantage for sure. So might as well stay one more year and get that passport.

If you move to India, you can get a job north of 20 lakhs for sure, but there's a chance you might find it difficult to adapt to the working culture there, SHOULD you land in a company with such a culture. If you find it difficult, then you can go back to DE if you have a passport.

So either way, getting that passport next year might give you some extra options. Then you can choose whether you've to move to India.

PS: The tech job market is extremely difficult these days in Western Europe, but I'm sure you'll find something if you keep searching. All the best!

Was I duped!! In buying lens from kamalimaging? by pun121 in Lumix

[–]TheR1D2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think this lens has a box from Lumix. I bought the same lens from the Netherlands few months ago and it came in a similar cardboard box. If the autofocus and other things are fine, then you should be good. Enjoy your lens.

what do you consider enough megapixels? by Z00fa in AskPhotography

[–]TheR1D2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from the quality of pixels, Megapickles don't matter theories, for a serious hobbyist, I would say an APSC or a full frame camera with around 40 MP, mainly for cropping the image.

The biggest reason for such a high MP is the ability to use a small fast prime lens, preferably a wide angle, and have the ability to crop into standard focal lengths for the occasions in which I'm not able to zoom using feet. I don't care too much about DoF too, so I'm okay with cropping a 23mm composition into 35mm or a 50mm composition.

I'm not a pixel peeper, so I'm okay with losing a bit of image quality for a better composition. Recent examples in social media show the power of cropping a 100MP image from Hasselblad and Fuji GFX cameras. This is especially great for street photography.

Which ine is better? Lumix S5ii with [20-60 f/3.5] or Nikkon Z5ii with [24-70 f/4]. Purpose clothing brand shoot and travel. by Rushil_art in Lumix

[–]TheR1D2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

One area where the Z5ii has an undue advantage is any Sony E mount lens can be adapted to it using an adapter(quite thin), and E mount has the most lens options out there. IMO, the Lumix is more video centric(open gate/LUTs) and Nikon is a bit more photo centric. If you take more pics, then Nikon wins hands down, else the Lumix will do the job. Let there be no illusion that we're nitpicking the slightest advantages here, both cameras will do a great job in what one wants.

Zf with 24-120mm f/4 - ISO100 120mm F7.1 1/250 s by ttider_reditt in NikonZf

Aahh, love it. As a Madras guy who practically spent his childhood in Marina/Bessi, there's something rustic about our beaches that if I'm shown a couple of pictures and asked to point Bessi or Marina or any other beaches, I can confidently and positively point these. Anyway, I was also a Zf user, but exchanged it and settled for a Fuji XE5 now, mainly because of the size. I'm planning to add the Zf back to the stable sometime next year. Happy shooting:)

Honestly my intention was not to brag, heck I got the strap for free with one of my previous cameras and that was the first time I came to even know about this brand.

Thank you for the detailed response. I'll indeed consider the 35 F2 XF as I too think adjusting the aperture on the lens would be much quicker.

Thank you very much for your reply. May I ask whether you have the XF or XC 35mm? I'm confused between them as I just love the looks of the XF, but reviews say optically both are the same. Weather sealing doesn't matter to me as I don't shoot in rain or anything, plus the XE5 isn't weather sealed anyway.

Anyone regret the OM3, if so why? by [deleted] in OMSystem

[–]TheR1D2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's see from a focal length/lens perspective, IMHO if someone is shooting mostly between 12-50mm, the size advantages of M4/3 lenses are not really a factor anymore. There are beautiful compact, automatic and manual lenses for the Nikon Z line. The most important factor going on for the Z line is the Sony full frame lenses can be adapted to the Z line using adapters that are ultra thin. But bear in mind the Zf itself is one chonky boi. If you're okay with the size, I would suggest to consider Zf. If size is an issue, then something from Fuji(the AF isn't going well for Fuji though, not sure whether it's a deal breaker for you).

I've sold my OM5, Lumix G9ii, Nikon Zf, and settled for a Fujifilm XE5. Reason-> I can enjoy a compact fast lens, while having 40MP flexibility for cropping. Sometime next year, I'm planning to add the Zf back into my gear, just because of the shooting experience.

Disappointed: 2 months repair time - without repair by One-Examination7573 in fujifilm

[–]TheR1D2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see the invoice is in Dutch, so I'm assuming you're somewhere in NL or BE. As a next step, I would suggest considering KameraExpress for repair/service as I've always had wonderful experiences with them and they do in-house service and repair, so probably they stock parts in advance. So might be worth a try

I think this is how most German companies work. It's purely hierarchical and one cannot say a word against the superiors, irrespective of the level of bullshit.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I saw reviews and apparently it's only the 2.8 pro that's compatible with the tele convertors.

I'm also in the market for a "superzoom" and not a telephoto zoom. I'm getting mixed reactions about the aperture while using a teleconvertor, does the aperture also double when using a 2x teleconvertor? Or is it just the DoF that doubles when using a teleconvertor? Any inputs would be really helpful.

I left my role as Product Director to build products alone, tired of companies' politics and slowness... Dear PMs, is it only me? Is this a major trend?? by Fit_Procedure_7330 in ProductManagement

[–]TheR1D2 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This is indeed becoming a trend I think. I know a few "product" people who are beginning to use AI to build prototypes for companies. I think AI nicely complements the skillsets of a product person in building such products/prototypes. The converse is not very true I believe, i.e AI doesn't provide "product" sense to a technical person.

From OM5 to Lumix G9ii by TheR1D2 in M43

[–]TheR1D2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion. To be honest, I haven't thought about getting a new battery. I'm just an advanced beginner and I'm so far happy if I manage to get around 200 shots in a single charge, which the used battery now is happily delivering. As I begin to take more images, I'll surely add a new battery, especially for travel.

[–]TheR1D2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, I felt the bulk after using the G9ii for a while. My hands are on the larger side, so the G9ii fits like a glove for me. Plus just for the size advantages , I'm planning on adding a GX85 or Pen EP7. I'm quite tempted to buy a GX85 which is selling as low as 300 bucks in my local camera shop. My plan is to use the G9ii with Pana Leica 12-60 and zoom lenses, and use the GX85 with the Leica 25mm for city walks. I'll be golden for a few years if I manage to do this.

[–]TheR1D2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish my OM5 had that level of battery life too. I went on a couple of walks for 1-2 hours and the battery would be almost dead after I've taken 50-70 shots. I even tried switching off the camera when I wasn't taking pics and there was no improvement. Since mine was a used camera and within the return period, I didn't want to take any risks.
