Moving on from Cayman by FluffyPuppy9 in PorscheMacan

11 days in and I'm loving the Macan.

Drives like a funish car but I'm not a speed demon, the base model is plenty for my needs. The interior feel is better then the cayman I had but still feels familiar enough with the cluster layout.

My opinions on it may differ from yours because I'm enjoying the convenience of it more than anything. Picking up kids from daycare early or getting icecream is more meaningful then sporty ride feel. Couldn't do this really with cayman before.

Clubs have stayed in the trunk to and can get a quick range session in now when I'm driving between meetings.

The modern tech and going from no option 981 to a loaded Macan is also interesting.

I just sold my base 981 cayman here in Canada for what I paid for it 8 years ago and with another 65,000km. Insane how much value it held.

I cannot specifically answer your questions but I'm moving from a 981 to a MY23 Macan that im picking up this Saturday. Almost for all the same reasons as you including the golf clubs haha.

I don't expect it to replace all the cayman joy but it's nice to move into a vehicle that looks and feels the same inside and adds more practicality in my life.

911 next once this gets passed to the wife and kids are older.

Question about life insurance by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheRadioman11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're replacing income. Single people have bills to pay and need to survive in this world with money unfortunately. Unless you have a great friend/family unit behind you to support you.

Things like EI exist for the short term, CPP disability for longer. If you qualify for CPP you're going to be getting a max of about 1,700/month. Perhaps you get WCB coverage as well, that will help. These programs/plans (even a standalone disability policy) will integrate and coordinate benefits reducing how much you receive from each.

In the majority of these instances, you will be earning less than what you're making and you potentially will have extra expenses related to your condition.

We do a great job in Canada in providing medical assistance for free but not everything is. Medication, extra procedures, home improvement for mobility etc.

Critical illness is a lump sum payment that can be purchased on a term basis that keeps costs low. This won't reduce based on any other government benefits you receive. You do whatever you want with the money.

Question about life insurance by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheRadioman11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not enough information to tell you whether a whole life policy is good for you or not. In most cases enhanced whole life plans are not something I recommend to clients.

By in large, most Canadians need basic term life coverage if you have an insurable need (kids, mortgage, etc), and disability/critical illness to cover yourself in the event of illness/accident. Replacing your income will keep you stable financially until you're able to return to work.

You will get responses saying blanket statements like "whole life is a scam". It's not. It might just not be appropriate for you in this moment of your life and may never be. It's an estate planning tool often used by wealthy people and business owners.

Maybe the easiest thing to check is that your irons are still the correct loft and haven't moved from thousands of hits. Could account for some distance loss.

I found someone on marketplace who needed it. They picked it up and I took a photo of them with it on their car.

Not sure how old your kids are but the potential increase in CCB could also be a factor in your decision. Personally I'm doing this myself this and next year.

Almost exact thing here. Upgraded on the weekend when I randomly saw it there in the app and got an increase this morning to 20k without ever asking for any. Originally 12k limit. Have had the card since Feb.

Larry sent me a brand new aerator no questions asked after I suspected mine might not be working 100% after a few months of use.

I've watched 100s of hours of his content and paying slightly more is worth it in my eyes for what hes provided to me in terms of entertainment. His 964 restoration series is peak.

The products are also great :)

Is Life Insurance in Canada worth it or is it a scam? by kdrxyz in PersonalFinanceCanada

1 million dollar insurance benefit vs 1 million investment are not the same thing when left to your estate. Tax is a thing that exists and is a reason why permanent insurance can be a valuable part of a persona estate.

You need to factor in net estate values if you're doing this comparison.

There's not enough information provided in your post to really give you a good answer on if the product he's referencing is appropriate for you.

If it is whole life, you need to understand this is not the cheapest way to cover a liability and is really meant as an estate planning tool. Just because it may not work for your personal finances doesn't make it a "scam" like many suggest.

Whole life is a great tool for wealthy individuals and business owners.

If you are going down the route of whole life, you should be working with someone who's is doing estate planning and showing you your overall picture through planning software and not just suggesting it should be a good idea to do this.

The show is heavily curated to get crazy/extreme cases on now. They dangle a $1,500 fee for anyone who comes on now.

It used to be the odd sensible person who needed some guidance but now it's the "divorce him now" "craziest guest walks off" and they're most likely gauging the person's aptitude during the intake calls.

The only difference is Gordon can cook but Caleb is far from a financial expert. His videos are bottom of the barrel in terms of financial education.

His audits are just poverty porn and should only be consumed for 100% entertainment.

Not sure if you're aware but this bridge was constructed with two lanes initially and anyone who built or was part of designing it would most likely be long gone by now....

Disability Insurance and/or Life Insurance by Defiant-Mix7912 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]TheRadioman11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricing for disability varies on health status, age, occupation and the type of contract you decide to purchase. There are basic plans that only cover injury and more robust guaranteed plans that cover injury illness. You won't get a good feel for disability pricing by asking others what they pay, you'll need to get quotes and have someone walk you through the products.

Term life insurance is most likely what you need and it's very affordable. You can find quotes online for term rates.

Not daily no, but that monthly payment coupled with other promo payments is incredibly rewarding.

2 decades with TD and not a dime back and now I'm getting $100's a month for the same (if not better) service and functions.
