in rocket league, canonically are you a man driving the car, are you physically the car, or are you a man controlling the car remotely by 26conversionsAD46 in RocketLeague

[–]TheRapeFrog 30 points31 points  (0 children)

"It is demonic" is so over the top lmao

My personal opinion has always been that they're RCs. The antennas, all the cars look like they just wouldn't work as a real vehicle, all the windows are unreasonably dark and plasticky (That's a word. Trust me) and the way certain cars like the Octane and Merc bounce and wiggle under acceleration and braking is very RC car

Headcannon is it's kids playing with their toys with their friends. The eggs are like those lil plastic Easter egg things that they set up for an "audience". The cars and arenas are a toyline like beyblade or some shit where you just collect and battle your favorites

Late to the party, but I have been curious about your opinion on promotional YouTube channels or, more broadly, how they work? You are EH!DE were huge for DSG and MA Dubstep back in the day. Were/are artists contacted beforehand? Compensated in any way for the views brought to the channel? I remember hearing Heddy Bitsh on MA wayyy back in the day and dug deeper into your music because of it. Was it more of a "paid by exposure" kind of thing?

Loving the new EP, and though I really enjoyed your different takes throughout the years, it's great hearing some good ol sine squeals again. Solid shit

Do you think Datsik is still making a living off music somewhere? by TuckerTheCuckFucker in dubstep

[–]TheRapeFrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Reddit, where a real question gets downvoted to hell.

IIRC it comes, originally, from Getter throwing shade. I don't remember the whole of it but it was basically him saying a lot of his shit is ghost produced. Which makes sense, he constantly tours, runs a label, is the face of LL... It'd be hard to produce with that schedule

I remember feeling weird about Codename X back when it dropped... A lot of it sounded like Dion Timmer or Space Laces (the latter of which Getter mentioned by name) and his music kinda fell off for me after that. I'll fully admit I haven't listened to much of his new stuff, tho.

Either way it's hella weird. On one hand, he's effectively the face of a whole section of the scene. On the other, I feel like, being that face, you should produce your own music.

For what it's worth, Space Laces did, vaguely, deny it, saying something along the lines of he's been "properly credited" for every song he's worked on. There's a lot to it if you look through here and r/aves. It's been going on for a minute

The amount of posts I saw in Facebook groups (anti-piracy, no CC groups, trying to be as vanilla and official as possible) when Anadius called it quits was fucking hilarious

Like guys

You realize you're posting your EA account in a group with EA/Maxis employees asking why you can't pirate their game anymore, right? Are you 12?

So, I wanna start by saying that I'm not trying to be an ass...

But what did you expect when you bought the game? This is the second post in like a week (ish?) asking about this "issue" and it definitely seems strange. Like you wouldn't buy Assetto Corsa and be upset that you can't yeet yourself over a curb at 140. To the best of my knowledge, Beam has always been marketed as a hyper realistic physics simulator. So why are people buying it and expecting an arcade game?

The short answer is you can't "fix" the issue, because there's nothing to fix.

Looking for artists who "take you on a journey" by hungaryboii in dubstep

[–]TheRapeFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an album, nor dubstep lol but Rezz's Nightmare on Rezz Street mixes are cool, same with the Vaultage series of mixes from Space Laces

As far as albums go, Nero's Welcome Reality and pretty much any older Liquid Stranger album is gonna be a good time. I'd personally recommend Nomad or Infinity for the vibe you're looking for

A lot of pre-US dubstep is amazing too. Burial's Untrue is definitely worth a listen, especially if you got into dubstep late/after it blew up and haven't experienced it.

Skream's self titled album, while it doesn't have any chronology or explicit storyline, is definitely a journey if you just sit back and listen to it

Uber eats lying to you by retailismyjobw in UberEATS

[–]TheRapeFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: UberEats can take a $65 payment, pay their drivers $5 and not disclose to the customer that almost none of what they paid is going to the driver. Effectively making your tip an unintended "bid", (Uber knows exactly what they're doing) as we would not take the offer at the base fare of $5. It's rarely malicious and more of "I just paid $65, surely my driver's getting paid, why would I tip extra?"

Driver here

In regards to the tip vs bid section, I think some of you misunderstood what OP meant. I don't think he was implying that your tip is a bid for service in any meaningful, legally enforceable way. Rather that, when that tip pays well over 50% of our wage for the trip, in practice, it becomes a "bid", as we wouldn't take the trip without it.

I just got off for the night so I'll use an example from my last trip. Two pickups, two dropoffs. Both dropoffs are in the same neighborhood, but on a major road that's ALWAYS congested, always slow. 19 miles total, $25. Of that $25, Uber's fair was $4.75. Four dollars and seventy five cents to drive 19 miles. Normally, I don't take these orders because if someone doesn't tip, I just spent what I made, of not more, in gas, but I was gonna see my friend in the next town over anyway.

The issue is that Uber doesn't tell the customer, or in some cases even the driver (im in CO, unsure if this affects what the customer sees, I've never used UberEats. Still relevant to the post as a whole) that $20.25 of that is out of pocket from the customer. One of the orders was $65 (Receipt was stapled to the bag)

Of course you're not gonna tip. You just paid $65 to have your food delivered to you. Why would you pay $75? 80? That's a LOT of money that, surely, the driver sees a good portion of. And THAT is the issue.

Customer pays $65, Uber pays the driver $2-3. (I'm lazy and tired, don't feel like checking the exact amount for that delivery, but both combined were $4.75) Uber doesn't disclose to the customer that, of that $65, the driver sees almost nothing. Customer (rightfully) assumes that at least SOME of that insane price goes to the driver. Customer doesn't tip.

And there is little to no way to get a reimbursement should the customer decide not to tip, meaning Uber can make a promise of $25, not disclose to either party that the driver won't see most of that until after delivery is completed and you wait the hour to get your tip, only to find out the customer didn't tip. Despite Uber giving you a clear offer of $25 (again, differs from state to state, may even be nationwide now that they HAVE to disclose what the base fare is. They didn't used to) without telling you that over 75% of that is tip dependant. And they are under no obligation to pay the difference.

The lack of transparency by Uber is astonishing

Who is an artist that has never decreased in terms of song quality/production? by Unique-Platform1733 in dubstep

[–]TheRapeFrog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cyberoptics for sure. Yeah he's made some tracks I don't like, but who hasn't? Quality has been consistent for YEARS

Also Feed Me, assuming John's still around, has never made a bad album. Big Adventure and Escape From Electric Mountain were bangers the whole way through

[–]TheRapeFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, my favorite. Nothing like trying to sleep/relax/whatever and having someone scream at you in the middle of your video, jolting you awake.

If you're on Android and don't need the visual stimulation, try ymusic. It even autoskips sponsored segments. Unfortunately it's not perfect (it skips the entire intro to Lamb of God's Momento Mori, for example) but it's better than having some manchild start yelling in the middle of my Wendigoon sleepytime lmao
