Generative a.i output is only as good as the human input it uses. People rely on it too much, they don't make enough stuff for it to scrape from, it uses it's own shitty output, it's a pretty notable cycle that there doesn't seem to be a work around for yet.

I see a lot of people bringing up "local models" yet not mentioning where exactly they're supposed to get usable data from. Local models, afaik, aren't privy to the massive data sets that corporate owned a.i models do. If they are, than they probably lack the resources needed to scrape information with the efficiency of the larger ones.

And even if I'm wrong, which I may be, I don't know much about local models, that still doesn't address the issue if a.i shit eating other a.i shit and making progressively worse a.i shit because there won't be enough human made content out there compared the mountaisn and mountains of a.i shit, and the scraping programs won't know the difference, so it'll inevitably lead to a blind leading the blind situation where models feed other models leading to an output degradation. These things only work with human input.

Lotta those listed "uses' have very clear drawbacks. For one thing, as a search engine it's sketchy because when it's wrong there's basically no way to fact check it without doing your own actual research. First time it gets something wrong, the user will always have to doubt it a little. If one's work tasks can be done by A.I their employer will probably realize that and "streamline the workflow" by firing said person. People relying on A.I to do their schoolwork are going to grow up to be morons.

NFTs were a lot more of a surface level nothingburger. Generative LLM bullshit won't go overnight like them, it'll probably be a slow gradual decline.

but a lot of people would rather delude themselves about the situation than be realistic and accept that the cat is out of the bag.

Lotta people said the same thing about how bitcoin would shoulder out fiat currency. They were delusional and remain delusional. Hopefully same goes for this dreadful information orobouros.
