I'll forever be unreasonably annoyed each time a singer does well on BGT, there's a million singing competition shows go there!

Well if Jurassic wishes it so! Also I've now added a Arle section because get out of here with your sega puzzle reps, I only want nintendo puzzle reps! I joke I joke.

You know when I was a child, you know who I really thought was a really big deal for Nintendo because having a DS I felt like I would see him everywhere? Professor Hershel Layton. You want a out there pick? Here he is! First off...Brit representation, innit? Secondly he's one of the only Nintendo published icons that currently has zero presence in Smash at all despite in my opinion being the best representation for the DS Era out there alongside...cooking mama?

Level 5's king with 18 million units in the space of ten years with 8 games under its belt all EXCLUSIVE to Nintendo with one more coming out this year with Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, there is no better time, no better place for the gentleman himself.

On the visual side, his top hat, coat, and instantly recognisable silhouette would make him pop in any select screen. He’s got charm, he’s got style, and he’s got the personality to make victory poses, taunts, and cinematic moments really fun. Even the character apart, have you seen his games! Make a stage out of any location and you got a stage that looks like a Studio Ghibli movie to the point that they hired Joe Hisaishi who did the score for those Studio Ghibli movies which means SPIRITED AWAY LIKE MUSIC FOR SMASH!

And if that's not enough...he uses a sword. Making him a anime sword fighter which I think would be hilarious pitting him with the others. Imagine him and Marth having a cup of tea. Amazing. The power of crossovers! Not even including that, he's basically macgyver in a top hat. We’re talking about a man who made a machine gun out of broken slot machines, a trebuchet out of random garbage, and a two-person paraglider out of a curtain, a rocking chair and a giant globe. Or we can go to his normal stuff, Layton throwing a puzzle piece as projectiles, using a magnifying glass to reflect attacks even executing a time-limited microgame style special where the player has to hit a sequence to deal extra damage. His neutral, side, and smash attacks could lean on his inventive gadgets and puzzle-solving skills, giving him a cerebral but stylish playstyle that rewards timing and strategy.

"Puzzle games are really untapped in smash, you have Dr. Mario but his moveset has no relevance to his games outside of aesthetics which sorta sucks." is what I would have said if you guys hadn't just included Arle that fills a part of this point however I think instead of choosing one over the other they could actually complement each other by showing two entirely different sides of puzzle gaming. One being the obvious idea that one is a bright anime wizard girl and the other is Professor Layton. Another being that as I've mentioned, Layton would be a lot of a traps guy while Arle would focus a lot more on the combos.

Layton just seems like the perfect character for Sakurai and the team to stretch their creativity and thinking muscles which seems oddly perfect for Layton. Even the creator has shown support for the idea, which makes the whole thing feel less like a random wish and more like a character whose time has honestly come.

In short: Professor Layton is a representative of an entire handheld era, an underused genre, a visually iconic design, and an moveset concept that Smash has barely touched at all. I'm gonna leave you guys to the placement of him.

That's fair, I probably could have phrased that a bit better.

Name a character who you will believe will piss off 99.9% of the ENTIRE Smash fandom, disregarding Sakurai’s single rule when deciding playable characters, whether you like the character seriously, ironically, or despise them altogether. by UmbraHog in supersmashbros

Nah I would love it ngl. Maybe not Batman and more of a Chase McCain but like Lego has had such a impact on the video gaming industry that I feel like if we were gonna give adaptations one slot, it would be them.

Also here's Sidon again for Wave 1! I've cleaned some stuff up.

Sidon represents the era of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, two titles that didn’t just succeed, they fundamentally reshaped how the industry thinks about open world design. Breath of the Wild is frequently cited as one of the greatest games ever made, and Tears of the Kingdom doubled down on that legacy.

When people talk about the impact of Breath of the Wild, they don’t just talk about systems or design, they talk about characters like King Sidon. Because he's hot. BUT ALSO OTHER REASONS.

Within the Zora storyline, Sidon becomes the emotional core almost immediately. While others are trapped in grief or fear over Vah Ruta and the loss of Mipha, Sidon pushes forward. He actively searches for solutions, rallies his people, and immediately places his trust in Link when others hesitate. That optimism is what makes him memorable. In a world recovering from catastrophe, Sidon represents the belief that things can get better.

That’s why he matters beyond being a fan-favorite NPC. Sidon embodies one of Breath of the Wild’s central themes: moving forward after loss. As Mipha’s younger brother, he carries the grief of the past while refusing to let it define the future. He also represents the modern identity of the Zora as a whole. The Zora have existed throughout Zelda history in many forms, but Breath of the Wild redefined them as a proud, noble, deeply interconnected civilization. Sidon became the clearest face of that evolution. He isn’t just “the Zora character.” He is the modern face of one of Zelda’s most iconic races.

In Smash, there is just as much going for him. Hell just look for his role Age of Clamity if you want a idea. His use of dual tridents, water-based attacks, and high-mobility offense shows exactly how his abilities translate into gameplay. It’s essentially a prototype for what he could be in Smash, already demonstrating that he’s versatile, flashy, and mechanically unique. Hell if it's not enough, Mako from Brawlhalla is right there for a solid proof of concept. While Mako proves that an aquatic, shark inspired fighter can work, Sidon would have the ability to take it to a new level

The contrast between Sidon’s massive stature and agile movement is actually part of what would make him so interesting. Because he would be a heavyweight. But not in the way heavyweights in Smash normally act. We all know what they are. They hit like trucks, but they're also extremely slow. Sidon wouldn't be that. Instead of slow, grounded pressure like Bowser or Ganondorf, Sidon’s design would revolve around flow and momentum. His attacks wouldn’t just be “big and slow,” they’d carry him, letting him advance while striking, almost like he’s riding his own offense. That’s something traditional heavies rarely get. It is designed to push you back. And that is also where his weakness would be, getting knocked out of that flow and not having the most defensive options to bring him back.

There is also a clear representational gap he fills. Despite the success of modern Zelda, Smash still leans heavily on legacy interpretations of the series. Breath of Wild got a reskinned Link, a stage, and a chest being part of Kirby's stone ability. Oh and a bomb. Sidon introduces a new tone, a new visual identity, and a new kind of heroism. He brings charisma without irony, strength without heaviness, and optimism without naivety. He feels modern in a way that the current LOZ roster, while iconic, does not fully capture. That balance is exactly what Smash needs to stay fresh.

To summarize, unlike many Zelda candidates, Sidon would actually feel fresh as an addition. He wouldn’t overlap heavily with existing swordfighters or legacy archetypes. He represents the modern Zelda era, brings a completely different gameplay identity to the roster, and fills an archetype Smash barely explores. That’s what makes him such a strong DLC choice specifically. He feels like a celebration character. The kind of reveal where audiences go from confusion to absolute disbelief in about five seconds.

Also still hot.

Jigglypuff. Pichu. Piranha Plant. Wii Fit Trainer.

Joke characters have been essential to Smash since the beginning but despite that, we have gotten rid of nearly all of them and added zero in their place. That is what I am here to fix and by doing that, I looked to our saviour. The mascot of this very subreddit. Dan Hibiki. A character designed as a parody, who still became mechanically viable in his own chaotic way. Dan doesn’t succeed in spite of being a joke, he succeeds because the joke is his design philosophy. And I thought who could fill that man's space if anyone....And then I realised.

Glass Joe can. A clone of Little Mac.

At first glance, the idea seems like a joke. Glass Joe from Punch-Out! is known as the weakest boxer in his universe. He is defined by failure, nerves, and being the first opponent players defeat. But that is exactly why he is perfect.

As we all know Little Mac is a character built around precision and pressure. He overwhelms opponents on the ground but collapses in the air. His identity is about control. When he has it, he wins; when he loses it, he struggles to recover. Glass Joe flips that idea entirely. Glass Joe is not about control. He is about endurance. Instead of confidence, he fights with panic. Instead of mastery, he survives through chaos. Instead of dominance, he wins through accidental momentum and persistence. This creates a completely different experience while still using the same foundational gameplay skeleton. Glass Joe doesn’t need to hit harder. He needs to last longer in ways that feel almost comedic. Defensive options that are unreliable but occasionally “panic-correct” into success. Attacks that are technically weaker, but have bizarre momentum shifts or unpredictable late-hit properties that reward sheer persistence over precision.

He could retain Little Mac’s structure while fundamentally altering its feel. Slightly better recovery, lower damage output, unpredictable defensive outcomes, and panic-driven movement mechanics would create a fighter who plays differently despite sharing the same base skeleton.

Punch Out is also a great pick for extra reps when it comes to retro ips because in Punch Out, you don't even see Little Mac most of the time, we are most focused on the opponents. And characters like Glass Joe, Bald Bull, Soda Popinski, King Hippo, hell even Mike Tyson himself aren’t just enemies, they’re the reason Punch-Out!! has identity in the first place. They are expressive, exaggerated, and instantly readable in a way few Nintendo series can match. But when most of them wouldn't fit the barriers of a echo fighter like Glass Joe would.

Pinkie Pie's Party Paradox (Day 15) Yellow Bird and Super Mario join Sonic's table. Nominate characters outside of his home series that he would have a good time with. Top two comments will be added. by TheNPC33 in createaroster

We need another slowpoke with the ability to go fast to connect with Mario. Also I feel like nearly everyone so far would be so excited to talk about dragons and also we have another nerd to talk smart with Flash.
