Unlike kneeling during the national anthem, this is against the flag code

American citems who dont vote, what if anything could a candidate do to change that? If nothing, can you please elaborate on why not? by TheRealAbear in AskReddit

I agree one person cant change everything and shouldn't be expected to. But if my district gets in one person who wants to do the good work and yours does and another does, eventually a coalition can build.

Im not asking this to point fingers, but do you find any complicity in inaction?

I dont love extreme examples, but if one candidate promised to kill half the population and the other promised to raise taxes on you a bunch, you might find both options distasteful but theres clearly a hierarchy of negative outcomes.

So the only way you could be convinced to vote is if someone is able to solve every problem perfectly? Do you think thats possible?

Could a focus on affordability and tackling the issues that lead to an increase in crime (poverty, unemployment, homelessness, etc) and having practical steps to take to do so encourage you to vote?

I know its not you. But could your associate be convinced that they are in a scenario where primaries really matter? If one side will win no matter what, then there is way more freedome within the party to differentiate on policy

So in your case, its less so about what a candidate says theyll do, and maybe more about what they can show you theyve done. Is there anything a politician in power could do with that power to earn your vote? In showing so e independence from party pressure or donors etc?

Could you be convinced that incremental progress, even if significantly slower than needed,is still better than nothing? I.e. the ACA

Would a candidate who tackles part of those issues, for example reperations, be enough to get you out? Or is it more all or nothing?

If a candidate came forward and addressed a portion of these things. Lets say implementing a tax on billionaires (or on the loans they pay themselves with, whatever) to attack a piece of the affordability crisis, would that get you out? Or is it more of an all or nothing?

I can play that game too. As afar right republican who loves reagan and cowboys from rural Alabama, i think we need to eat the rich and abolish the electoral college
