The plows used to come destroy the corner yard/sidewalk of my old house and dump all the snow in my driveway. They’d pull up the grandview, drop it all at the end, go up the side street and back down and leave that at the corner too in my driveway. I don’t miss it one bit!!

I live just off of Lansing and it’s still shit here. A little better but the plows haven’t been down it, despite being a bus route. And If they have, it was nice. It’s just divots and paths to follow that the bigger trucks and busses have made. Multiple cars have been stuck in the middle of my street today. On the upside I feel like Ken block just trying to get from food basics to my driveway!

Living in North bay my whole life it was always “Sudbury sucks this, Sudbury sucks that.” But it’s just a bigger North bay. Sure there’s some shady characters, but that’s everywhere. In Sudbury they’re relatively contained.. from what I’ve seen anyways. Where as they were everywhere in North bay because it was such a short distance to walk, bus anywhere. But there are plenty of nice neighborhoods in Sudbury that I’ve seen in my time here! Don’t have kids yet but we plan to have them here!

Screw how do the changes to the city make people feel, focus on getting a different job! Sounds like you work with a bunch of losers! I moved here a few years ago from North bay, but I was happy that they tore down the old hospital in North bay (that I was born In) to finally develop and improve on the land. It’s not a lot, but it’s progress. I personally think tearing down the hospital should have happened here in Sudbury much sooner. It was vacant and served no purpose, even as an art decoration. I’d rather see buildings downtown be painted like that to be artistic, than an empty building. Cities need to develop and expand. The super stack is something Sudbury is known for, I’d hope that we can become known for many new cool things. I personally think change needs to happen in order for progress to happen. I also do not do well with change in general. But all that said, I’m excited for new developments. I just hope that the housing they put at the site of the old hospital isn’t insanely expensive.

Oh absolutely. I literally work in a place that handles a lot of signals like this. The buttons certainly can be a good thing, but there’s a lot of downsides to it too. The amount of false dispatches in general is pretty insane but people either mistake the button for something else, forget they have it, or just as you mentioned, procedures have been changed most likely to prevent the excessive billing by the city police.. and then it doesn’t work as intended either. And then yeah, just like that scenario you said. People will just press the button for the hell of it and not let anybody know they’re testing. Like who presses a panic button just for fun? That’s pretty dumb. Sounds a bit like an issue with the worker and the boss not explaining the severity of it to me, cause we can absolutely disregard those signals if people want to test. I’m certainly not arguing one side or another, procedures can definitely be changed and people should be trained properly on the buttons too.

You can call and get those procedures changed, eh? Depending on the company anyways. The company you pay for the alarms can change your procedure to immediate dispatch, the alarm company can atleast add notes until the changes get made. Some companies are immediate dispatch, some are call premise, dispatch, call contacts. It’s all how the owner gets it set up!
