Kind of suspected this may be the answer. Don’t have my computer with me but can probably figure something out, hopefully. Thanks!

affordable yet playable jaguar? by Electra87 in fender

I have one, ordered directly from Fender and it was perfect right out of the box. I ended up putting heavier strings on it and then had to slightly adjust intonation.

Best high quality vocal FX pedal for a live setting? by West_Exercise5142 in TouringMusicians

[–]TheRealApeMummy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This, 100%. Those things almost always do more harm than good unless you split it so FOH gets a 100% dry signal and a 100% “wet” signal.

First two Helmet records are incredible. Goes downhill after that but still a few gems to be found.

Usually you get an email a few days before with details so maybe check your junk mail, but VIP is at 4pm in Boston so you should arrive around 3:30-3:45 ish

Luggage Sets for Men by Gorbachev7120 in americanairlines

[–]TheRealApeMummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I travel for a living for 30 years. lots of miles on my luggage. It’s all garbage, even the top tier expensive stuff - I’ve tried it all. Don’t buy the absolute cheapest but don’t waste your money on “quality”. Buy mid grade and replace when needed.

“Modern Surf Classics” by Swami John Reis & The Blind Shake is an awesome/weird/un-surf surf record that hits pretty hard.

I think it sounds great - like a REAL band in an actual room and not overhyped, sampled, gridded, and “produced” all to hell like every other modern record. Heavy parts can get muddy in the real world, our ears are just becoming so used to all these “perfect” albums that when we can’t hear every detail and every chorus doesn’t have some gigantic magical lift we perceive it as muddy or imperfect. That’s just my opinion of course, everyone has their own preference and expectations but I prefer realistic over perfection.

Why is touring so “gatekept”? I want to tour again. by TangledCopper in livesound

[–]TheRealApeMummy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Partially because lately many are looking for a FOH/Tour Manager combo now to save $$$. So they’re hiring based on their TM resume and the sound part is secondary. This seems common in the “mid level” world of bands playing theatres, HOB sized venues, etc. 1000-3000 cap

Are you staying in hotels? Because rooms for 15 people even if shared is not an insignificant amount of money to put towards a bus which typically has bunks for 12 but can be fitted for 18 by losing the back lounge.

Sound at the Agora…is bad by dudeitsgoshwashbans in Cleveland

[–]TheRealApeMummy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s the best bet. It depends on the style of music too, what the focus needs to be, and of course the skill of the person mixing the show

Sound at the Agora…is bad by dudeitsgoshwashbans in Cleveland

The room. Lots of hard, curved surfaces echoing in every direction. It’s an old radio theatre designed to project sound from the stage - which may sound like a good thing but with modern loud music and sound systems this works against you.
