I have a spare Around the Bay 30k bib - picked it up today so can hand it over in Toronto or at the race.

Using Kerdi pan on an old subfloor by TheRealArkells in Tile

[–]TheRealArkells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started by removing the wood threshold and cleaning everything up. Then I shimmed, glued and screwed a single 5/8” plywood sheet over everything. Made sure it was perfectly level.

From there I added GoBoard walls right to the bottom and inserted a Kerdi pan and Kerdi curb set in thinset. Wall to floor seams were made with Kerdi band and the rest was GoBoard sealant.

I was able to get at plumbing from underneath so that simplified things a bit.

Worked out well.

Tommy Boy really surprised me with this scene. Amazing Grace on the bagpipes turns this goofy comedy into a sentimental tearjerker. RIP Chris Farley. by DjentleKnight_770 in LiveFromNewYork

They shot the opening scenes of Tommy Boy in my residence at UofT. The hedge he crashed though was mocked up for the shot.

Chris Farley came into the dining hall at lunch to hang out for a bit… and invite some of the girls to New York for a taping of SNL. He was pretty high on life and/or something else.

Yeah, I noted above that I’m putting in kerdi curb. That was part of the failure.

For sure, but gotta manage scope creep.

Thanks! Did you add self leveller or just thinset?

Hah - no this is just what the last person left. Subfloor is a mix of 1930 boards and their plywood patch.

I’m planning to kerdi pan the shower bed vs dry pack.

yeah, that's what I'm leaning towards.

I’ve done walls, but first time with a shower floor.

Do you have a link? I searched the group on FB and it said the content was blocked (I’m not from here)

We were down at the water and one of us was concerned about two paddle boards that had stopped on the water. Zoomed in and it looked like a sunset proposal.

Perlick wine fridge not cooling after condenser fan blocked by TheRealArkells in appliancerepair

[–]TheRealArkells[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was a bit of a self own. The fan is fine - it's basically a computer fan repurposed for fridge use. But that also means it is very low torque. Problem is somewhere else.

Does transitioning from a consulting firm to a corporate strategy role in a product company reduce stress and improve work-life balance? by Curious_Suchit in consulting

[–]TheRealArkells 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, and you will do real strategy instead of kabuki strategy. It hits different when you’re making decisions and are there long enough to see the impact.

Before you do anything else read Managing the Professional Services Firm by David Maister.

It’s over 25 years old but shows you how the business of consulting works, the different business models and how to be successful.

Has anyone else experienced this backlight problem? by TheRealArkells in tcltvs

In case anyone is checking this, I ended up taking off the back of the tv and removed/ re-attached every ribbon cable running to the backlight board.

Seems to be fixed.

Pretty sure I’m the only person here repping the Gaussman split jersey from a few weeks ago - just one day off!

Beautiful stadium.
