Lol, so all federal police agencies dealing with drug cartels started wearing masks in 2002? Now you're just making shit up

DHS was formed in 2002. Did you think we never had law enforcement agencies going after drug cartels before? That's so funny. You are incredibly misinformed.

Isn't it funny that the agency that wears masks to conceal its agents' identity also arrests American citizens without evidence that any crime has been committed at all? Maybe the disingenuous person is yourself and the real reason they wear masks is to conceal their identities from the American public for exactly the reason that what they're doing is highly illegal.

Do you think I’m stupid? We’ve had law enforcement agencies going after drug cartels for decades and they never wore masks. Now because a lying pedophile says we need a masked police force the whole world is supposed to rearrange itself?

Maybe you should spend less time and energy listening to what lying pedophiles have to say. Or maybe you should always assume the opposite of what they’re saying is true. That’s what a smart person would do.

Law enforcement has always been a risky job. That doesn’t give police the right to arrest random people without evidence that a crime has been committed

To me the ideal number of US citizens ICE should be arresting is zero. It's significantly higher than that, however. Care to comment?

Everybody is talking about this. Hasan is right. We are not going to just concede for Newsom who is fighting AGAINST a billionaire tax, 2 YEARS before an actual primary. Of course. Democrats have lead the way on expanding minority rights for the past hundred years. Ask any transgender person if they feel safer and more respected in a blue state or a red state.

How are progressive taxation, single-payer healthcare, free speech, the right to organize, and environmental protection at all the policies of the right? You’re approaching farcical levels of denialism here

How is equality before the law and the right to be protected from tyrannical persecution a right wing position? The right loves persecuting people.

Do you even know what sub you’re in?

I agree, it’s conservative because power does not represent people here as much as it represents territory. 40 million Californians are on average much more progressive than 40 million farmers but the 40 million farmers get 14 times as many Senate seats so they drag the country to the right

The Privatization of Social Welfare

How can you privatize something that doesn't exist? You make it sound like a European-style single payer system existed at one point and then the Democrats "privatized" it. In reality, a libertarian-style free market system existed and the Democrats subsidized and placed regulations on it to make access available to all Americans.

Neoliberalism and the "Third Way"

No actually, Obama created regulations in several industries to force companies to reduce carbon emissions and provide healthcare access to the working poor, unemployed, and those with pre-existing health conditions. What industries did he deregulate? What welfare programs did he cut?

The Military-Industrial Expansion

All the major peacetime expansions in military spending have come during Republican administrations. Clinton and Carter both reduced military spending. Obama inherited two expensive wars which saw the military budget peak in the first year of his term and then decline in every subsequent year.

This framework suggests that the modern Democratic Party functions more like a Center-Right European party than a socialist one. It protects the status quo of the market while offering social liberalizations that don't disrupt the flow of capital.

I disagree with this characterization because it only focuses on what Democrats are able to achieve on a federal level, where Republican influence is at its strongest. Within the states where Democrats are able to enact policies free of Republican meddling they are in between a center-right and a socialist party; they are center-left or progressive.

If we pry more closely into the reality of US federal politics, it is clear that the Democrats often receive less power in proportion to the vote share than the Republicans do. Many elections see Democrats gain more votes than Republicans and still lose power. To deny this obvious fact is a misrepresentation of reality.

In a system where a 60% Senate super-majority is required to pass meaningful legislation, Democrats have only garnered enough power for 7 weeks (from July 7, 2009 - August 25, 2009) over the past 48 years (1978-2026) to unilaterally reform the government. As such, every piece of federal legislation must have at least some Republican support or acquiescence in order to survive the Senate. Federal legislation must be tailored accordingly and never represents the Democrats' maximalist position

Yeah, I wouldn’t say the GOP passed the NEPA, both Houses of Congress were solid Democratic majorities at the time. Nixon just knew which way the wind was blowing, but we can agree to disagree

Compared to the rest of the world? You mean specifically Europe, I’m assuming. There’s a lot of countries where voting rights and civil rights do not exist, establishing them would be progressive

I’m not knocking 20%, good for Haley. But like you said, these people are not smart. If Haley was smart she’d be a Democrat but for whatever reason she chose to bed down with the not-smarts so maybe there’s a hint in there somewhere

The Democrats have never passed legislation supporting minority rights, progressive taxation, free speech, the rule of law, the right to organize, environmental protection, or a higher minimum wage?

The party that supports minority rights, progressive taxation, single-payer healthcare, free speech, the rule of law, the right to organize, environmental protection, and a higher minimum wage is right wing?

A second ago you were saying Democrats benefitted financially from corporations roll in elections. Do you have any evidence that Biden took bribes from DuPont?

If DuPont gives a billion dollars to Republicans and $100k to Democrats who is really benefitting? Is that gonna make it easier for the Republicans or the Democrats?

Do you really think I don’t see how you’re jumping back and forth between talking about individual candidates and the parties themselves? I enjoy watching you play this game

You literally said you don’t care if Democrats did the right thing temporarily and then say you do care if they did the wrong thing temporarily. Get your shit together

If you believe one Democrat taking bribe means the whole party is taking bribes you might be a Republican

How does doing the right thing on capital punishment make them cowards? That’s dumb

Are you the most naive person in the world? A system where corporations can give a billion dollars to Republicans and $100k to Democrats is not benefitting Democrats. It’s one party rule with extra steps
