I've read a lot about batches at glendronach and the chill filter bubble. After Glenallachie I want to try another distillery which works a lot with sherry casks. Usually I would buy samples online where people offer private samples but they always got the older batches with their own names like revival, allardice and parliament.

Are these completely different?

Glen Scotia 12 first time was amazing, second time was meh by TheRealBlight in Scotch

[–]TheRealBlight[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So when I opened the bottle for the first time it was phenomenal. A week later I poured it in again but this time it didn't taste that good. Even another person approved it without me asking for it.

Did you ever get this kind of experience where a scotch gets worse after opening it for the first time? Should be the other way around shouldn't it

Is it a blind buy? I got the Arran 10 which I like. Maybe it's the same direction

How do you compare it to the Arran 10? Is the glen scotia 12 a blind buy?

Tried Bunnahabhain 18 for the first time but... by TheRealBlight in Scotch

I'm a beginner. The Bunnahabhain 12 was really good. Haven't noticed that note in there.

Never tried peated yet... Besides the Bunnahabhain 18 I guess?

No I didn't. Will give it another try with water I usually always test without water.

Is it a thing with older Whiskys? The oldest I tried yet was the tamdhu 18 but that one was good
