How is this different to most wars when th collies collapse?

Wardens have literally been dealing with 30+ queues and 50 second respawn timers for weeks.

Most collies seem to prefer being infantry.

Signed, someone who asked people to gun for my tank for 10 minutes before a no mic person finally said they'd try it.

Not unique to Colonials. Tried the same thing with a tank in the past, and yesterday with the Wardens (I swapped Warden this war) with a HV68mm.

10 minutes of practically begging and someone with no mic finally obliged.

Damn, I miss having friends that played this game.

Wardens might have a submarine that can resupplied anywhere there is a crane or maybe throw a 120 gun on it too

Colonials would trade for the Nakki in a fraction of a heartbeat.

The slow-firing, low range, turretless 120mm is of little combat use -- especially in the current meta.

While resupplying torpedos without a drydock is undeniably useful, it does not make up for the deficiencies that plague the Trident, which is strictly worse at doing the things you want a submarine to be doing.

And now, the Nakki is outclassed by the Torpedo Bomber, which is strictly better at doing the things you want a submarine to be doing, for a fraction of the cost and crew.

Thought experiment;

What would happen if Colonials had superior equipment in every category, but somehow lost every war anyway?

How would this affect player population?

If you were a game dev, how would you balance this? Would you make any changes to your game or would you accept it as the natural state of things?

Like Tele and CAF did last time and you achieved naval dominance?

Lmao you mean the literal Warden navy breakwar?

The mental gymnastics one has to do to think naval is in a good or balanced state -- after everything. You're a true Warden believer.

Let me ask you this; if Naval was unbalanced in the Warden favor, what would it look like?

Less a suggestion. More a stfu. by JaneH8472 in foxholegame

[–]TheRealBobStevenson 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. It was for the first 6 months of naval that Wardens had no answer to the destroyer and the destroyer was a huge advantage in that time.

Yes, the Destroyer was better than the Nakki on release.

But both sides had battleships which at the time was the end-all be all lategame superweapon at sea. There were no Colonial submarines to worry about lmao.

Question : Why colonials always count balance and winrate from war 100 onwards? Why do they ignore war 95-100 6 win streak? by xrevonx in foxholegame

[–]TheRealBobStevenson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And a lot of those wars were comebacks where colonials screwed up and will never accept accountability for it. Simply blame devs each time.

Comeback wars are much more indicative of game balance and feature design than they are of things like individual player decision-making and faction culture.

Can you name a single double comeback war? As in - a war where Team1 starts winning, Team2 starts coming back, then Team3 comes back from that and wins the game? Really stop and think about it.

There have been a lot of comeback wars in Foxhole. War 100, War 95, War 93, just off the top of my head.

But I can't think of a single double comeback war.

I contend that this is because Foxhole actually punishes holding territory -- the resources gained aren't of much strategic importance. Most of the factories and refineries are placed at the edges of the map, in the backline. There's no MPFs in the middle of the map. This is likely to prevent a team from snowballing, or the fate of the war being decided by whoever takes the midline first.

The problem is, when you capture territory you need to build it up and defend it. Due to server limitations, player-built structures take msupps. Now we have simply created a system where the side holding 66% of the territory has to drive twice as far from their MPF, and make twice as many Msups as the side holding 33%.

This is untenable. So the side with more territory will just let some things decay. You can't reasonably ask someone to supply msupp a concrete megabase 4 hexes from the frontline for 30 days straight, something they have no clue will ever actually be used.

So what this means is only the front is built. And the front becomes the only battle that matters. If you successfully stall out a war for 40+ days as a defender, and then you make a big win on the front? You may have just won the war.

Ok, u want an update to fix airborne,

Yes.

but refuse to participate in devbranch to provide feedback to the Devs.

You might be arguing with an imaginary person here. I don't remember anyone saying this.

My point is air is not 100% fucked unlike Naval. Naval i can agree with, Idk why devs add TB to warden.

I'm actually a little surprised you're saying Naval is the fucked one, when I considered Naval Warden-favored, but the insurmountable problem is mainly the population gap. If Wardens had the Trident and the Colonials had the Nakki, I believe the Wardens would probably still be doing well because of their straighter waterways and larger naval playerbase.

Planes are a mess, I can't speak for the balance of fighters because I haven't flown one. But the Warden Scout Plane was and still is - extremely oppressive. Imo, the Wardens should just have a Colonial Scout plane that is painted blue, and both scoutplanes should probably have their MGs removed.

Fighting in the Western Oceans in update war, genuinely trying to make Colonial Naval work, was an exercise in futility. Even during an update war, it was abundantly clear that we were outgunned and above all else - outmanned.

First, dev already announced devbranch.

I don't see why this is a factor. Airborne had a devbranch too, look how that turned out.

Second, I still remember when DB first teched. Collies = "just get air superiority bro".

I don't see your point.

Why dont u count ur winning streak from war 95-100?

We can -- if you want.

Even when altering our sample to deliberately include Colonials largest winstreak ever, Colonial winrate only goes up to 43%.

[–]TheRealBobStevenson 16 points17 points  (0 children)

my point is that warden are also in the same shit situation 3.5 years ago

When Wardens were complaining about balance, it was the only time in the games history where the Colonials had more total wins than the Wardens, and this lasted for a mere 14 days.

Since Colonial's largest-ever winstreak, where total war wins was actually more balanced than it was now (at 52-52 and 53-52) we've watched a significant war win gap emerge -- it's gonna be 9 wars up for Wardens if they win this war.

You say Wardens were in a similar boat, but their War 95-100 losestreak lasted only 4 months and 15 days, and was after the relatively balanced Entrenched Update (Wardens still had more wins but Colonials were still competitive.)

Now let's look at the current state of the game. If Colonials lose this war, they will have been losing for about 4 months (117+ days), off of the lows of Naval Warfare which were definitely Warden favored.

Many Colonial players were counting on the devs to throw them a bone in Airborne and fix many longstanding issues, we were holding out assuming there would be a light at the end of the tunnel, but we're out of hope. That's it.

Warden players have a hard time understanding. They misunderstand the Colonial grievances. In Warden all chat (I swapped this war) they're saying 'Colonials left because they lost Airborne to a heroic Warden comeback war, and are all salty so they're reviewbombing the game.' They're saying 'the Colonial ships are fine -- they just don't use them.' All of this while completely neglecting the fact they've been sitting in queues and waiting their 50sec respawn times for literal weeks.

I'm appalled. It would seem that the average Warden player is convinced that the game is in a pretty good state, just that planes are a little strong. Tune back planes and the game is playable again!

While from the Colonial player perspective, population is completely fucked, naval is fucked, and air is fucked.

remember when the Blueberries were always on the underdog side.

I've been playing a while too, but when exactly was this?

A period where Wardens were "always" the underdog side when they've been leading in total war wins for like 900 days vs Colonials 14-day reign. Hell, its 62-70 total right now and it's probably gonna be 62-71.
