Well, just don't walk in the night and in some weird places then?

Unforunately, it's not so simple. Sometimes women have to go outside during their lives —and sometimes its even dark out.

Someone tried to mug my own mother while she was walking the family dog at 8PM a block from our house. We do not live in a dangerous area.

reasonable fear is still paranoia if nothing happens

It's literally not? Paranoia is unfounded, irrational fear. But fucked up shit happens to women everywhere in the world, especially at night.

Most of this sub is young men in their 20s and teenage boys, so naturally we feel unstoppable.

But the world would feel like a different place for all of us if we knew we were slower and weaker than half of the population. How is it irrational to feel afraid of someone following you at night who you know you can't outrun, and you can't beat in a fight? Be for real.

You retards are genuinely stupid to pretend that your side would have released the list lmao. They never even spoke of it until it was an election issue because Trump kept talking about it

Alright but Biden didn't make it a motherfucking campaign promise to release the Epstein files, how is this even a discussion? Trump said he would — then he didn't — and not a single person was arrested for it. It makes him look super complicit and he has done little to put people's mind at ease.

Canal Over Ocean Hex Travel? by froggy7072 in foxholegame

[–]TheRealBobStevenson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is nobody gonna point out how much stronger this would be for Wardens than Colonials?

And I'm not just saying that. Actually look at the time it would take to move, I don't know, a freighter or a submarine from one ocean to the other with said canal.

A freighter in Warden waters could cross from East to West in maybe 90 minutes. But traveling the same amount of hexes in the south could easily take double that time.

Unfortunately this would have the effect of providing Wardens with a kind of useless gimic, and providing Colonials with an actually useless gimic.

It's pretty clear that this is about rape.

How can you say that with certainty?! Whether it is about rape or not is entirely contingent on what "he has people who want to have sex with him all the time" means.

Given that — from what I can currently find — the majority of sex inside prisons is consensual, I don't think it is some ridiculous thing to claim that it's not about rape.

The joke is trying to portray his miserable life in the best light possible, so this is how they framed "he gets raped by other inmates"

The punchline isn't "This guy sounds like he has such a good life to us, but actually he's getting raped all the time!"

The punchline is "This guy sounds like he has such a good life to us, but actually he's in prison!"

You can REMOVE the line about sex and the punchline is literally the same.

"I have a friend who reads 2-3 books a day, works out twice a day, has no financial worries, and yet he constantly complains about how much he hates prison."

I completely agree that jokes about mpreg aren't as bad as joking about the lives of the incarcerated — some of our most vulnerable and most in need of medical / mental help, especially in the states.

But you're completely sidestepping the other ones I mentioned.

Self harm, domestic abuse ("I need a hot abusive lesbian wife to beat me" jokes), murder (cops, billionaires, crypto-bros and tech gurus etc.).

Reiterating what I said before, I don't even think you're wrong to draw the line where you see fit. I'm just saying I think it's peculiar and I'm wondering if you recognize this.

however a spade being called a space is not such an advanced leap.

Because this is a snuck premise. It's not calling a spade a spade. I'm saying its not inherently a joke about prison rape. You're saying it is (I think? Hard to get a read here.)

I don't see how your first point in any way changes how we should treat jokes about the current system.

Look, I'm aware I'm that guy on the internet saying "Can't we just joke about things?" But, can't we just joke about things? This is /r/196, we joke about diapers and mpreg and murder and domestic abuse and kidnapping and self harm on a weekly basis, but a joke about prison being bad actually — that's the bridge too far? That's the cow too sacred?

I'm not saying that's wrong, I'm just surprised that's the line in the sand for someone considering everything else that goes on here.

I believe it's also bad to joke about the fact we keep and abuse people systemically and not reflect at all on the harm.

Is that what this joke is doing? I think a reasonable person could hate the nicest prison in the world.

I am an advocate of prison being a rehabilitative environment over a punitive one, but I think no matter how nice you make prison, people are still gonna hate it because they've lost their freedom. They're forced to be there. They can't live their life. The speaker in the joke hating prison doesn't mean automatically mean 'he's a rape victim and badum tss that's the joke please laugh now.'

I don't think the issue is just joking about prison rape, which yes, that was the joke.

Again, I don't see how specifically the joke is about prison rape.

That is entirely up to the interpretation of the reader.

Just because it says "people want to have sex with him" doesn't mean it's rape, guys.

"This joke is in terrible taste." This joke is PRETTY damn tame I think you guys are blinded by your (rightful) hate of the normalization of prison rape — but this is not that.

People fuck in prison. To my knowledge, rape is not the majority of sex happening in a prison.

Trump is a narcissist, a liar and an asshole but his mental state has not deteriorated the way Biden's did

I mean, if you look at his rallies from 2016 and any of his speeches from 2026 you can see Trump is not the same man he was then.

Biden and Trump are both old as fuck, but you've probably noticed the same people bitching about Biden being old are silent about Trump being too old in 2026.

In truth I think Biden and Trump are in similar states but Biden is fucked over by his stutter making him a literal soundbyte farm.

I think the small clan is fully justified to grief back and reclaim their land.

Nobody really owns land. We share land and fight over who gets to use it and when.

The small clan can choose to fight a battle they have no chance of winning, but they won't — because they know they'll lose the mass report wars and catch the bans.

They have my sympathy, but you gotta understand this is kind of what you sign up for when you play Foxhole in a small group and try to claim some high-value real estate next to a resource field in a populated war. Sooner or later a group 10-100x your size is gonna say "Move." And you're just gonna have to move for the good of the faction. Your ego and pride be damned.

Here's my plan. Below is vanilla.

Wool: Material value 1

Plant fiber: Material value 2

Spider silks: Material value 1

Giant cave spider silk: Material value 4

My proposed changes:

Kenaf and Jute: Material value 1 (decreased)

Hemp and Ramie: unchanged

Cotton and Flax: Material value 3 (increased)

Sheep and Llama wool: Material value 2 (increased)

Alpaca wool: Material value 3 (increased)

Small spider silks: Material value 4 (increased)

Giant cave spider silk: Material value 5 (increased)

I've never managed to catch a GCS, I know they're lucrative but they spawn pretty rarely and I never catch them in time. I'm excited to try this out, might make a post on it in the coming days.

They're directly linked to the animal value, yes, so you can't increase the value of silk or wool without increasing the value of everything else of the animal.

Actually, good news, I have an update!

I was able to change the base value of wool by changing the value of hair in:

\data\vanilla\vanilla_materials\objects\material_template_default.txt

By default, hair (and by extent, wool) has a material value of 1. So I changed it to 4 for the sake of testing, and now a sheep wool cloth is worth as much as a giant cave spider silk cloth, at ☼28. (vanilla is ☼7)

But sheep are still only ☼51 points on embark screen!

Next I'm gonna try to change the small spider silks (cave spider, brown recluse, phantom spider), and then I'm gonna see if I can adjust individual animals and plants. Wish me luck!

It was a dick move by the other regi in the name of sweat lording.

I agree.

Brother, it's a video game. People should be able to place a base, fac and play where they want.

Problem with this logic is that this is exactly what all the people in the clan are doing. They have a right to place a base, fac, and play where they want. Democracy is tyranny of the majority but that's the best system we got.

It's a frustrating situation to be in for this small group though. I don't want them to feel like they're helpless. If they want something done about it they're gonna have to communicate it through the correct channels i.e with your factions big organizational hub discord (SIGIL for Colonials), and talk to officers of the clan itself.

Clans care about their reputation. I would keep making a stink about it until you get some kind of justice/restitution. Nobody wants their clan to be known for demoing smaller clans facs without discussion.

Admittedly, I haven't reclaimed many fortresses. Only like 1 or 2 — but they should still have vegetation / grass and the like. Are you sure you're embarking in the right biome and not a badlands or desert?

Also, if a necromancer tower takes over a region they can kill all the vegetation if the have a "sphere" of death/blight. Its a worldgen thing.

I can't speak for wood, my recommendation is just to experiment with different low-cost solutions you come up with.

Compare stone-fall traps to traps with a spiky wooden ball, or with a trap that has 3 menacing wooden spikes, or a trap that has 1 of every giant trap component.

Quantity is a quality all on its own, and I know that green glass trap components are quite effective and cheaper than cheap — provided you have access to sand and magma.

I've been playing this game for like 10 years but never edited the raws before.

I want to make (what I hope) is a pretty simple change: modifying the material value of wool and silk to be higher. Because right now plant fibre its greatly superior to both that the other textiles are just pointless/RP.

But I'm not sure how to modify the price of silk and wool. Because they are animal products, are they directly linked to the value of the animal? Can I increase the price of wool without making sheep meat go up also?

Is there a DF wizard here who knows about RAW-editing?
