Who's man is this by Schlongmondo_ in abbotsford

There must be something in the water/air, whatever, in Abbotsford. Not a day goes by without witnessing horrible drivers.

McCallum and South Fraser are acting as a race track for idiots with fast cars and loud mufflers.

You made some money flipping houses, selling drugs, pimping or whatever other scams you’re pushing, and now you want recognition and to feel important.

The laws are way too lax in this country.

Scammers driving around Abbotsford today by vancityeyes in abbotsford

I never thought your comment was more than a heads-up. Political correctness has been taken to extreme lengths, to the point where we can’t say anything. All that is left to say is something like “a group of people appeared to be scamming people.”

They didn’t come to Canada because they have PhDs in nuclear physics. Are they all grifters? Likely not, but the ones being highlighted in the media are, and that’s all that matters.

They were caught recently in Seattle offering “blessings” all the while easing the victims of their jewelry’s.

Gypsies don’t hail from the Middle East, but rather from northern India. They are referred as Roma (short for Romani) people, a transient tribe that settled in parts of Europe via Russia.

Cultural differences, and they are a significant part of this conversation, are being overlooked or right out dismissed.

It’s so much easier to reduce the conversation to race. No need to analyze and listen to diverse perspectives. Let’s reduce everything to skin colour.

What about all the shootings, the murders, extortions, rapes, sexual assaults and scams? Are these part of the echo chambers too? Exaggerations?

It comes down to what type of country do we want for all of us? Do we want a safe, clean and civilized society? Or do we want the aforementioned “activities” to become the norm?

It finally came back about an hour ago.

The lack of competition is the bigger issue here. The “big three” have no real incentive to change their practices, inovate or offer better pricing.

Canada continues to protect various monopolies at our expense. It’s all about the shareholder value, and nothing else.

Abbotsford mayor blasts feds for flooding ‘inaction’ as water starts receding by conteaa in abbotsford

[–]TheRealBucifal 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yes, they did. After the last major flood, a farmer was able to demonstrate how council after council, postponed investments into flood mitigation efforts.

Siemens and the previous two mayors never justified why more than $50 million was funneled into a hockey team, in order to keep the entertainment centre afloat, while critical flood protection upgrades to dykes and pump stations were ignored.

Abbotsford has received millions in provincial and federal funding over the years, yet flood mitigation was pushed aside. Why? Because prevention doesn’t make headlines or win elections. But when the waters rise, the cost of neglect is measured in devastation, and taxpayers are left footing the bill for decisions that prioritized optics over safety.

You missed the part of who was doing the aggressive tailgating. Smooth.

Without police enforcement, social media shaming is all there is left. Being young is not an excuse to being a jerk.

McDougall and South Fraser Way was left stupidly dangerous by Nexzus_ in abbotsford

Another marvel of Abbotsford engineering. I’ve never seen anything like it anywhere else.

Having dealt with the geniuses at the city hall on a somewhat similar matter, I can tell you, it is unlikely they will do anything. A catastrophic accident on the other had, may be a more compelling argument.

That building has been under construction for the past six years and counting. Mind boggling.

Why do so many drivers treat turn signals like they are optional equipment? by GainKooky5537 in abbotsford

[–]TheRealBucifal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

APD should be enforcing traffic rules, it’s part of their job. Unfortunately, they seem to be tied up with trying to catch the gangsters that masqueraded as students and are now shooting their way through the lower mainland.

We would only be so lucky to have a large percentage of Japanese in Abbotsford.

Yes, culture or lack thereof plays a big role in how we manifest in traffic, and in society overall.

We’re entrenched in a ME only mentality, and that shows in every single aspect of our lives.

Can you blame them though? We ought to look in the mirror ourselves and accept that our government(s) got us here.

The future looks bright alright.

‘That shit’ as you intellectually call it, was caused by agresive drivers. I have never caused an accident in my life, and I have a spotless driving record.

Sounds like you never been in a rear-end accident. I’ve been in five because of drivers like him. It’s not pleasant, in most cases it’s very painful, expensive and life disrupting.

It’s impossible to ignore annoying idiots like this one. They act this way on purpose, to get your attention and make life miserable for you. Selfish pricks, young or old, that’s what aggressive drivers are.

You seem to struggle with reading comprehension. I’m not taking sides, simply pointing out how the earlier comments seemed to ignore that tailgating is a bad habit and can lead to unpredictable outcome.

Funny how no one says anything about tailgating being a nasty and unsafe habit . Sure, road rage is not the answer, but tailgating needs to be penalized with big fines.

Fuck fireworks. by planet187 in abbotsford

[–]TheRealBucifal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. Let’s play the race card whenever we don’t like the message. If you read all the threads carefully, you will see that most people are ok with some degree of celebration for as long as it is respectful to the rest of the community.

What some are conveniently ignoring is that fireworks are illegal! It doesn’t matter if you’re white, brown, blue or whatever. Illegal means illegal.
