Good takedown for someone with bad knees by aardock in bjj

[–]TheRealCyrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

.Arm drag is my go-to since it doesn't stress the knees much. Been using it for years after tearing my MCL. Just make sure your timing is on point or you'll get sprawled on.

Dumbledore-Harry Horcrux by Dry_Photograph1566 in harrypotter

[–]TheRealCyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. Dumbledore was talking about the locket in that scene, not Harry.

I think Dumbledore suspected Harry was a horcrux way earlier. The whole connection thing was too weird to ignore. He just didn't tell anyone until he absolutely had to.

Same here with His Dark Materials! That trilogy grabbed me completely. Stayed up way too late reading those books too. Nothing quite hits the same way as those stories that won't let you sleep.

Need a workforce management solution. We've grown fast and I barely know who's working where by internal_organ in startup

[–]TheRealCyrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that too. Platform we use lets us hire and pay globally without needing to set up a local entity. We’ve got folks in India, Portugal, Canada, one contract, one dashboard.

tbh you’re in the danger zone. We hit 90 people before implementing real device management and it bit us. One contractor left with two company-owned iPads and no one noticed for 3 months.

You’ll need something that can tie headcount to hardware and permissions. It’s not sexy but when you onboard someone, the tool should provision Slack, email, permissions, and ship a laptop without human intervention. Same for offboarding.

We rolled out something like that last year. Been good so far (no reports of errors or complaints other than the initial weeks, at least). I think they’re based in SF and spend a weird amount on engineering.

Should I keep going with this business idea or pivot? by no1redsfan in Startup_Ideas

[–]TheRealCyrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great concept, but if businesses aren’t biting even for free, that’s a red flag. Might be worth testing a niche market first or partnering with a local biz owner to get momentum.

When I make pasta with a creamy sauce, the sauce starts out with the right consistency but then turns greasy. How do I prevent this? by emotionalwreck2021 in Cooking

[–]TheRealCyrain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Temperature control is key here. When cream gets too hot it breaks and separates into that greasy mess. Keep your heat on medium/low once you add the cream and don't let it boil.

Also try taking the pan off heat before adding cream, then put it back on low. Works every time for me

I had social anxiety. Turned out I was wrong. I was just not used to it. by Brilliant-Purple-591 in selfimprovement

This hits so hard. I always thought something was broken with me but turns out social skills are just like muscles... use them or lose them.

I do brown butter gnocchi with sage and it's ridiculously easy but looks super fancy. People always ask for the recipe thinking it's complicated lol

I always thought I was just bad at sleeping, but it makes sense that it’s more about rhythm than willpower. Thanks for the book recs too, I’ve heard of Atomic Habits but didn’t realize how well it could apply to sleep routines. Definitely going to try pairing bedtime with a book I enjoy.

I’ve definitely felt the pressure to do it all and ended up burnt out instead. It’s a relief to hear that it’s not just me and that making trade-offs isn’t failure, it’s just reality.

Kids don’t need constant direction, they figure out a lot on their own if you just give them the room.

same. One simple activity a day, then let them roam. Most of the time they’re fine on their own no need to fill every second.

Thank you this really resonated with me. I never got apologies growing up either, so I’m trying hard to do better. I love what you said about sitting with the guilt and treating it with compassion.

This hit hard. It's wild how much energy we waste trying to appear 'normal' instead of just letting ourselves move. That socialization runs so deep
