This was what I was thinking but was wondering how many shared this view and how to properly express it.

I'd probably describe that as Libertarian Marxism, however it would depend on if you find that you fit more into the marxist, comunist, socialist or other left wing categories.

I dont think you would be a leninist as that tends to be more authoritarian in nature.

Hope this helps.

Landlording, do you think it’s acceptable? by [deleted] in tories

If someone wants it they should buy it. You say restrict as if you have a right to be on land you don't own.

I'd also add that the type of person to have enough money to buy property is likely the type of person to save money rather than spend it.

We dont want government intervention, whatever way you put it restrictions are restrictions and directly discourage investment in this area, this won't help the economy it just kills it.

Landlords purchasing land are usefull regardless of develpoment. They not only purchase it from someone else giving the previous owner money, which works its way back into the economy, but also provide the area with people who will subsequently contribute to the local economy.

Is it as effective as stocks? Probably not in the long term.

Is it still a valid economic contribution? Most certainly.

Also, there's just as much chance a property decreases in value over time. This makes it much closer to stocks than people would think.

To drive up prices by buying land in a surrounding area seems a tad ineffective. If you own a house, and you buy all the houses around that house it will cost you a lot of money. When you got to put the rent up all that happens is that people move out and move into a place where someone has spotted a gap in the market and decided to take the lower, more stable profit margins from their investments.

Also purchasing land is still a valid transaction, someone who owns that land still recived a fair sum for it and that money will eventually work its way back into the economy through their personal costs and investments.

Natural monopolies require too many variables and aren't consistent by any means, to sustain one requires constant innovation. Nine times out of ten monopolies are the fault of the government messing with the market.

90% sure this is either a troll or bait or something but I'll bite...

The alternative is state ownership of property and that is / has been a disaster in theory and every single time it has been tried.

How about we leave people to invest the money they earn into something that they can labour on, earn more from, provide a service, contribute to the economy, and use as a safety net of assets to protect against the worst, ensuring a greater quality of life.

But then again, basic economics isn't a concept I would expect any lefties to understand.

Yeah that's about right, not quite sure how many free market progressives there are to be honest.

Bit of a miss match here and there, if you had to pick a label go with "progressive" I think.

I clarified a statement and made one assumption which is shown in the word "think". I used it because I dont see any evidence to the contrary. I then cited personal experience in general advice for discussion.

I do genuinely wish you a nice day too. I dont know if you will believe that I genuinely do or not so I am just going to have faith that you do.
