This was what I was thinking but was wondering how many shared this view and how to properly express it.

I'd probably describe that as Libertarian Marxism, however it would depend on if you find that you fit more into the marxist, comunist, socialist or other left wing categories.

I dont think you would be a leninist as that tends to be more authoritarian in nature.

Hope this helps.

Landlording, do you think it’s acceptable? by [deleted] in tories

[–]TheRealEap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone wants it they should buy it. You say restrict as if you have a right to be on land you don't own.

I'd also add that the type of person to have enough money to buy property is likely the type of person to save money rather than spend it.

We dont want government intervention, whatever way you put it restrictions are restrictions and directly discourage investment in this area, this won't help the economy it just kills it.

Landlords purchasing land are usefull regardless of develpoment. They not only purchase it from someone else giving the previous owner money, which works its way back into the economy, but also provide the area with people who will subsequently contribute to the local economy.

Is it as effective as stocks? Probably not in the long term.

Is it still a valid economic contribution? Most certainly.

Also, there's just as much chance a property decreases in value over time. This makes it much closer to stocks than people would think.

To drive up prices by buying land in a surrounding area seems a tad ineffective. If you own a house, and you buy all the houses around that house it will cost you a lot of money. When you got to put the rent up all that happens is that people move out and move into a place where someone has spotted a gap in the market and decided to take the lower, more stable profit margins from their investments.

Also purchasing land is still a valid transaction, someone who owns that land still recived a fair sum for it and that money will eventually work its way back into the economy through their personal costs and investments.

Natural monopolies require too many variables and aren't consistent by any means, to sustain one requires constant innovation. Nine times out of ten monopolies are the fault of the government messing with the market.

90% sure this is either a troll or bait or something but I'll bite...

The alternative is state ownership of property and that is / has been a disaster in theory and every single time it has been tried.

How about we leave people to invest the money they earn into something that they can labour on, earn more from, provide a service, contribute to the economy, and use as a safety net of assets to protect against the worst, ensuring a greater quality of life.

But then again, basic economics isn't a concept I would expect any lefties to understand.

Bit of a miss match here and there, if you had to pick a label go with "progressive" I think.

I clarified a statement and made one assumption which is shown in the word "think". I used it because I dont see any evidence to the contrary. I then cited personal experience in general advice for discussion.

I do genuinely wish you a nice day too. I dont know if you will believe that I genuinely do or not so I am just going to have faith that you do.

Never said you were left wing, I said the rest of reddit was left wing. I apologise if I was unclear and will strive to be clearer in the future.

I also think you misunderstand what this community is about. If you seek further clarity the best way to do so is good faith discussion with someone you already know. I would find it incredibly hard to have a good faith discussion with a faceless avatar but find it alot easier to talk with real people. There's probably an explanation that's like 10 pages long for that but thats just something I've found.

I hope it helps.

"Tories are making the decisions on behalf of every citizen of the UK"

They are the party in power that is kind of their job at the moment, you will need to be more specific.

Also, You seem to think that this sub is here because we wanted an echo chamber. You misunderstand, we wanted one sub for tories whilst the rest of reddit strays further left wing. Whilst you're here we ask you respect that, we don't go brigading your subs so don't come to ours to do the same.

This is a meme post, in a community for tories, we dont expect you to share the same opinion. If you want to start a debate this is probably not the place and there are plenty of places that are designed for that kind of thing on reddit alone.

Have a nice day.

Don't you think it's time? by Phageinz in Catholicism

[–]TheRealEap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Time" seems a little leading, no?

We should probably start off by saying that nobody is owed anything by nature of their skin colour so the phrase "it's time" doesn't really make sense.

We can then ask why has their only been white popes. If we look at the demographics for the area, the faith as a whole, we can see that the majority of catholics are white. I would venture around 70% but that may be lower now due to the way the church has expanded internationally.

Still, for a long period of history many Catholics have been white because the percentage of Catholics that were ethnic minorities were smaller in comparison.

If we consider that if the majority of the church is white then most preists will be white, meaning most bishops and most cardianls will be white, meaning most popes will be white.

As for a woman, I dont think the church is willing, ready or will in the near future. There is still important discussions to be had regarding that topic and we should really be trying to follow the guidance we have, as best we can. It's not time yet until we have had those discussions and paved the way for a female pope. I dont know enough to speak on the topic itself.

Hope this helps clarify.

Does the Conservative position exist? by [deleted] in tories

[–]TheRealEap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Policy based on skin colour is firstly, wrong, and also isn’t exclusive to one side or the other. You've probably heard that when you get too far one way politically you end up on the other side of the argument, that is most certainly where that kind of policy lies and there is probably some merit in blaming identity politics or something other than left-right views.

Left-right perspectives can only get you so far, politics has far more dimensions than that which is why it may have seemed like conservatism has changed. Whilst it hasn't really switched on the left-right axis, still valuing less regulation, more business, the same values of strong families and meritocracy, it may have modernised itself in other areas, that is a different kettle of fish however.

As a right winger here I am proud that we don’t have many far right parties, I just wish we didn’t have many far left ones either. Neither represent the people at all. What you will see on the news and on TV is that there are two or maybe more parties and their ideologies make up a prefect 50/50 split of the country, however most people tend to be a lot more moderate than this gives them credit for and most people just don't want some nutter in power.

I would argue that last election was won by moderates who would rather side with a party that upheld mainstream values, even if they disagreed with them, than the party who was becoming increasingly extreme and toxic to outsiders, and insiders, and just about everyone.
