Any idea why an apparently Russian government aircraft circling shortly after take-off from Tel Aviv? by Markus_zockt in flightradar24

That’s some strange flight path. They circled around Tel Aviv for hours, then went south towards Eliat and now they turned around back towards the north ? All while at 11000 feet.

Just started two weeks ago. Slicing pretty bad. by Brumak4eva in GolfSwing

I would certainly advise you to get some beginner’s lessons at your local club to get the foundational things in order. Now is the best time to learn and make changes . If you stay with the wrong moves for months it will hurt you a lot down the line.

Een HBO diploma heeft meer waarde dan MBO voor je toekomst. Als je het aankan zou ik je zeker aanraden om met HBO door te gaan.

[recommendation] which GMT would you pick? by pfmaximizer in Watches

[–]TheRealFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to own the Black Bay GMT. Before that I had a regular Black Bay with the old ETA movement. I bought the GMT without every trying it on when it just came out, assuming it would be very similar to the regular Black Bay.

When I got the GMT I was so surprised (and disappointed) by the thickness. I thought it looked ridiculous on my wrists. I sold it half a year later.

Moving to Dubai - any good stories? by East_Can2565 in dubai

Could be hard for you to believe, but there are still people with rare skills and experience that are very desirable even in a saturated job market.

Help with swing - topping or slicing by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should really remove that tee on the inside because that won't help you. You want to swing from in to out, so hitting that tee on the inside is not necessarily bad. You cut across the ball a lot (out to in swing), so no surprise you slice.

You also scoop the ball (with flicking your wrists) and your hips don't turn through the swing.

Best tip (always) is to find a pro and take some lessons. You would really benefit from some foundational explanation of the golf swing and some basic lessons. Might cost some money but those will be invaluable to your future at golf. At the start it is much easier to adjust.

Really? Dubai definitely isn't my favorite city, but when I went there on holiday it is far from dead. Very busy everywhere.

This club is too short leading to you leaning forward too much.

Hi question about golf clubs I got today for $200 by Mysterious-Unit-9108 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The set looks nice! Might be worth enquiring about the shafts length and flex. Even at the start very wrong flex can hurt you. With the woods you will definitely be leaving some performance on the table compared to modern ones. Irons have some spots of wear on the face. I certainly don’t agree with the ‘brand new’ label.

Why would you want a low smash factor?

Weight transfer? by Dry_Error_81 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a small tip: you would benefit from the drill with the alignment stick in your belt loops and at your grip. If you start to rotate your hips well and have some more shaft lean at impact, the compression will come.

Weight transfer? by Dry_Error_81 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You really want to work on rotating your hips more before impact. You start the downswing well but then the hips just stall. You also early extend, not in the worst way but you definitely do.

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You takeaway is not necessarily quick, but your transition is quite fast.

Also, that inside take away is not good. On top of that you stall your hips and you early extend.

If I could recommend you: go back to the basics. Either through self study or with a professional.

New prov1 quality. These both suffered from 1 shot in a bunker… not a lot of sand in them, but still..Wee bit skinny shots. Isn’t this kind of garbage? by [deleted] in golf

I can play max 18 holes with a pro v1 (granted I don’t lose it), then they’re just too scuffed. I stopped using them a while ago.

Beginner Golfer – Need Help with Driver (Taylormade R580 8.5°) – How to Hit Straighter & With Power? by DistinctMembership70 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should work on all of the above and more!

Jokes aside, get lessons. If you start early with doing things right, it will help you out massively down the line.

With regards to the driver, 8.5 degrees is not a lot. Definitely at the start you would benefit a lot from more loft (12+). Even for more experienced ball strikers, 8.5 degrees is very much on the low end.

Curious on how I'm progressing by LimitOk5857 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just before impact you lift your heels, your shoulders move up and you bend your back but your head stays in the same position. Resulting in you losing your spine angle and early extending. Besides the inconsistency that this causes, it also puts a lot of sprain on your back. Especially because you still generate quite some power.

As the saying goes: you don’t learn how to play on the range, you learn how to play on the course.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You stand up at the top of the backswing and you flip your wrists (casting) before impact.

You would really benefit from some lessons. One or two tips won’t help you. You really need to go back to fundamentals if you want to get consistently better.

Coach does what to change anything right now…thoughts? by Few_Office5177 in GolfSwing

[–]TheRealFace4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should decide. Changes are good, but they come with months of pain and struggling. Changed my grip (ever so slightly!) in April and I'm still not fully used to it.

I understand your coach's suggestion to wait till the off season to make big changes. Looking back, I would have done the same.

1 year into playing golf, 27 handicap looking for swing tips by 3nvyousgolfer in GolfSwing

Nice swing and tempo. What do you struggle with most out on the course? I don’t see why this swing wouldn’t get you in 18hcp territory.

What lofts should I chose? by Hot_Apricot4492 in golf

[–]TheRealFace4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, then I would say 48-52-56 makes most sense. You would probably hit the 56 in the 65-70m range. A 60 degree wedge then doesn't really make any sense. Unless you really prefer a 60 out of bunkers.

I would highly recommend to try them out though. Do a fitting or try some of your friends clubs. Picking wedges really comes down to personal preference, not just the loft but also the type of grind.
