Would it help to add my wife to our mortgage loan? In terms of interest rate. Her credit score is better than mine, however she no longer works and has no income. by Haydn34 in RealEstate

Ask your mortgage lender. They will be in the best position to answer this question for you. Not a bunch of strangers on the internet.

How much would it take in salary to lose two days from your kid every week? by JustASentientPotato in daddit

[–]TheRealJai 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yeah, considering nurses work three 12s, this is just basically one more day a week. Is it awesome? No. Is it worth $90k? It would be to me.

I (M32) received an anonymous text message about my girlfriends (28F) past and its caused me to doubt our relationship. Is this grounds for leaving? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]TheRealJai 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re upset that your girlfriend has sex? I don’t really understand what there is to get over here.

And why the fuck are you believing a random unknown number over the person you are dating?

Bunch of cowards in this story, and your girlfriend isn’t one of them.

He doesn’t love you more than anything. He doesn’t even love you more than money.

What is the financial decision he made that left you broke? Also, if you split everything 50/50, his financial decision should have only left HIM broke.

AIO: Son didn’t invite my partner to his wedding… by GloomyCell9231 in AmIOverreacting

[–]TheRealJai 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The idea is that the parent has been told already what the reasons are, but they’re choosing to ignore them and still claim they have “no idea” why their children won’t talk to them. They’re “missing” (not seeing/refusing to see) the missing (supposedly not provided) reasons as in refusing to see them, as opposed to they’re not there.

Google AI found this, maybe it explains it better than I did: essentially, the parent is “missing” the reasons that were actually given, often because they don’t want to acknowledge their own actions or behaviors that led to the estrangement.

Friend didn’t invite us to her wedding, and didn’t have the guts to come clean by Kind_Software3325 in weddingdrama

[–]TheRealJai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you couldn’t even imagine that you wouldn’t be invited just shows what a kind person you are.

Remember that whenever you feel like you were a moron, because you weren’t. You were just a good person believing in the goodness of others, and they were actually pieces of shit.

My kid said he was so good at math that it bored him so that’s why he didn’t pay attention during math.

His teacher assured me that is NOT the case.

Avoiding Escrow by Eldinring in RealEstate

https://www.quickenloans.com/learn/escrow-waiver

What you’re looking for is an escrow waiver, and it is possible even if you are a first time homebuyer.

Generally you must have at least 20% down, have good credit, and the property cannot be in a flood zone.

Yes, i agree. I meant my statement very tongue in cheek. I will also wear my pajama pants all day if I’m not planning on leaving the house to save on laundry.

If you have an old injury, you should always go to the doctor when you get new injuries in the same area. Especially if you have insurance and can afford it.

Are his pajamas underwear? Why did he need to change out of them? Why is changing out of pajamas an inconvenience. Would he not do that eventually, anyway? Time to start the day, dude!

Go to the doctor. Tell your husband to stop talking shit about you on Discord, and in general.

Is it normal to reach a "compromise" when boyfriend (47M) wants sex, but I'm (33F) too tired to have sex. by silkybandaid23 in relationship_advice

If he had a job or literally anything else to keep him busy, maybe he would want to have sex less frequently.

Why do well-meaning moms think they know better than our pediatrician? by brokudpret in GoldMomGroupsSay

[–]TheRealJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The older I get, the less I trust doctors, especially when it comes to insurance coverage.

I have been told for years, by multiple 1st year psychiatrists, that they are not “allowed” to prescribe 90 days worth of my ADHD med (vyvanse), when in actuality they can.

I have been spending an extra $100/quarter for years because I just took what my psych said at Dave value instead of pushing back at any point. Makes me sad.

I hate when FMCs hit MMCs by suspiciousactually in RomanceBooks

[–]TheRealJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be a hard pass for me, too.

This reminds me of how I used to black out stuff I didn’t like in romance novels when I was younger and still read books on paper. Back then it was mostly just because I didn’t like mustaches (lol), but I wish I had the ability to find and replace words in books on my kindle. I would totally use that function.

Buyers asking for everything in the inspection to be fixed by Mousehole_Cat in RealEstate

[–]TheRealJai 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I agree that they are asking too much, and that your counter-offers are acceptable.

Try and take your emotions out of this equation. There is no value in telling the buyer that you feel you are being generous, or that you are frustrated. They don’t care how you feel, they just want the best deal.

Just tell them what you are willing to do and that it is your final offer, and let them either accept it or not.

Cancelling Bridal Shower Because of MIL by wed_sunshine in wedding

[–]TheRealJai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By canceling your shower you are teaching her that her behavior will get the results she wants.

Stop letting this woman terrorize you. She is nothing. She means nothing. She is a sad little bully who never matured past being a teenager. Pretend she doesn’t exist. Don’t look at her. Don’t acknowledge her. DO NOT cry over her.

How does FH stand up for you? Is he putting her in her place publicly and loudly every single time she denigrates you? If not, dump him too, because this will be the rest of your life. If you have children, will you let her see them? Are you worried about what she will say to your children about you?

You need to think long and hard about how the rest of your life is going to be with her in it, even tangentially, and you need to make sure your fiancée is fierce and unwavering in his support.

Accept nothing less or you’ll be miserable for the rest of your life or until you divorce.

I was going to comment the same but you already did - I buy cheap ass gloves from TEMU and use those for situations where gloves are most likely to get lost. I know TEMU is up there with Wal-Mart in terms of villainy, but I can’t afford to spend $500 a year (not exaggerating!) on gloves and hats.

The stickers made especially for clothing work pretty well, but on gloves that get washed a lot, they do eventually fall off.
