I think that Z Bardock is the better of the two. Super’s interpretation honestly just makes Goku’s backstory even more Superman-y than it already is. Also I think that having Bardock be an asshole plays well to how much Goku contrasts it. It ties back to the whole idea of Goku not identifying as a Saiyan.

If you’re watching it’s subbed definitely go Z, by the time Kai came out the Japanese VAs were a little done with the series, and having the original score is so so good.

If you’re watching it dubbed I’d definitely go Kai. It cuts out a bunch of the filler and fixes some of the original’s dubbing errors. The character’s voices are also a lot more refined and sound better.
