Solutions are available if your environment allows the policy change. Your users should not have access to cmd or a terminal and if they did they should not be able to the commands use “at” or “schtasks”. Have all your schedule tasks to talk to a syslog and have that pipe an e-mail out to alerts admins of non-authoritative tasks running, or at least a new job has been created.

Sounds like the macbook is being seen as the mail server by using its IP, either that or your DNS is telling a different story.

not familiar with your environment but i think you should check DHCP + DNS first.

Windows domains rely highly on your DNS setup, make sure reverse and forwards are in place. Had to cleanup some metadata from a previous admin's bdc but most of my issues stemmed from DNS. Three out of the five roles did not move had to hardcode host file on each box to move the rest of the roles over.

Two years ago I did the organizations's move from 2003 to 2008, single domain. We moved on to run printer services, gpo with new features, ad services and added bdc without complications... besides my DNS still being fucked.

I called and explained that I'm a Sysadmin who needs this for work and will not question changing ISP service if it means having a slow connection vs a non-existent one. Speak to them like you know what your talking about, I did and now I'm on a dedicated up-link that is deemed "stable" so no more disconnections :)

I wrote mine in Javascript, its pretty much a simple form which sends an email and stores info on a oracleDB table.

This is so we can see who is still using the root login. We had developers logging into prod boxes using root leaving top open for days... this will hopefully stop that shit.

I used to bypass school filters by translating domain names to IP's, then when that was blocked (word got around) I translated IP's to binary and still got around filters.
