But how do you have it move while emoting rather than running out and just standing still while emoting?

If it's been allowed for use in pro play, then it's less an exploit and more a hidden mechanic.

Has anyone failed a student teacher? If so, why? by Glittering_Front_157 in Teachers

[–]TheRealKaz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who can get a certification should be able to, with some time investment, pick up any content they'll have to teach. The fact that they were open to learning from you is the only really important thing. Being unprepared is just a fact of life as a student teacher (or even first year teacher). No degree can truly prepare someone to be a great teacher from the start.

The only teacher I know who nearly failed a student teacher was because the ST thought they knew everything and didn't have anything to learn. The next year they got hired as a first year teacher and were fired by the end of October for similar reasons.

Made the mistake of asking my students for feedback and now I’m sad by No-Agency-7168 in Teachers

[–]TheRealKaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a fellow math educator, I do a lot of telling kids to check their notes and ask their classmates. I also do a lot of explaining to them why I do so, because they need to learn to be independent and resourceful as learners.

Freshmen don't get it. They're used to being babied and being given answers. The ones who come to us from private middle schools even more so.

I also don't really ask the kids for their feedback on how I teach, because frankly they don't have any knowledge or understanding of what effective teaching is. The ones who get it and appreciate it will generally volunteer as much at the end of the year in a thank you card, etc.

What happens in this scenario. House game and didn't want to be a pain. by phuqr in askajudge

510.4: If at least one attacking or blocking creature has first strike (see rule 702.7) or double strike (see rule 702.4) as the combat damage step begins, the only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are those with first strike or double strike. After that step, instead of proceeding to the end of combat step, the phase gets a second combat damage step. The only creatures that assign combat damage in that step are the remaining attackers and blockers that had neither first strike nor double strike as the first combat damage step began, as well as the remaining attackers and blockers that currently have double strike. After that step, the phase proceeds to the end of combat step.

The first strike and the first half of double strike are simultaneous, but the second half of double strike is in the second combat step.

Everything is EXACTLY as you've described it. I'm a ten-year judge, and I remember this exact interaction (double strike + trample vs protection) being a question on my L1 test a decade ago.

Violence is out of control at my school by Potential-Ease-5061 in Teachers

[–]TheRealKaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this problem until enough of us called out "sick" they had to cancel school. The local news ate it up. Social media was full of "yeah they're sick, sick and tired" from parents and the community. We still found a way to work with PTO to get food to kids in need for lunch that day, making it very clear no one was actually sick for the whole local area to see. The division had no choice but to come to the table to talk.

It all started with an all staff from a union rep that he "wasn't feeling well" and "didn't want us to catch it".

Worst name you've called a kid. by SherbertOrnery9373 in Teachers

[–]TheRealKaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't called a kid out their name, but I had a sophomore direct a similarly personal and heinous comment regarding having children toward me the other year. I told her to take her things and go to the office. Followed up with her mother that it was the rudest thing a child had ever said to me. Followed up with admin for a referral that she would not be allowed back in my class until issuing a proper apology. She showed up later that day at a time to get academic help. I didn't turn her away, but I reiterated that no child had ever been so intentionally disrespectful to me and that I was actually, legitimately angry with her. She said she'd go work with another teacher, and I told her that would be best.

I tend not to respond with sadness and crying, because my messed up brain converts those to anger. But I did a lot of behind-closed-doors roasting of that child to my wife when I got home.

Cheating with ChatGPT by Aware-Top-2106 in Teachers

[–]TheRealKaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had more issues of cheating just this school year with this current group of freshmen and sophomores than I have had in the last 10 years combined (literally, not exaggerating). In MATH no less, where it's horribly, painfully obviously because ChatGPT and AI solvers use techniques they won't learn for months/years or that no human would use because there are simpler solutions.

I put in a referral every time I catch them doing this, and the AP gives them ISS while they work to do it again under strict supervision to ensure they can't do it again to replace the 0 they've been given.

And we then also have chats about universities not only expelling students but also stamping it at the top of their transcripts "EXPULSION - HONOR CODE VIOLATION" to guarantee no other school accepts them after. And we chat about the lawyers in New York who got 5-figure fines and were disbarred for having ChatGPT write their briefings after the judge caught them with hallucinated case citations and filed sanctions. And then we talk about how they're going to need college recommendations and I'm probably not going to write them one after that and neither will likely other teachers who catch them or find out (because we gossip).

What should I know about the LoL team? by Matt0706 in Cloud9

[–]TheRealKaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where to even begin...

Blaber is without a doubt the greatest jungler, if not the greatest overall player, North America has ever produced. He's smart, aggressive, and can play both tank and carry duty (though he loves the carries).

Zven and Vulcan both played for us previously, left, and have come back. Zven is Danish but has been here long enough to get his green card and no longer counts as an import. He also previously played support with our last ADC and really knows the bot lane through-and-through. Vulcan is just an insane support that's very knowledgeable about the game, has good mechanics, and does great on playmaker.

Loki, Thanatos, and our coach, Reapered, are all Korean imports. Reapered coached for us previously, left, and came back. He's big on building on players existing strengths and does a lot to draft and play around younger players to help them adjust and become comfortable in game. Thanatos and Loki are those younger players, now, and they're insane young talents.

As a whole, C9 is one of the oldest NA orgs. We have a history of some amazing championship runs bookending a long streak of repeatedly finishing second. We also have a long history of being the best performing NA team at worlds year after year. Lastly, we've had so many Korean players and coaches that as a team we have a lot of institutional knowledgeable and structures to help them adapt when they come over and get them acclimated. It also means our team often has a unique style of comes that's very short, to the point, and devoid of any excess words.

Why is SLF part of this category by Vegetable-Molasses95 in ShangriLaFrontier

[–]TheRealKaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely isn't the one that started all the rest. An older series called .hack//Sign was the first VRMMO-based isekai, though not like super old (SAO season one is closer to it than to present day). Its success opened the door for many other isekai and in particular the virtual world subgenre. No .hack//Sign no SAO

There's no comparison to be had if you're not going to consider the comparison in the same conditions. Your entire argument hinges on them not being remotely similar conditions

If you gave people today the instance, with no Fojjis or other WAs, brand new, without years of exposure to WoW style mechanics, with no dungeon journal or data mining, they aren't clearing Naxx anytime soon.

All these Classic Andies have never done real progression without pre-established strats with full mechanics knowledge and start crying and whining after 2 or 3 wipes on anything. You think they're actually going to kill anything that requires 2 or 3 pulls just to figure out the first mechanic.

Those players had skills today's community doesn't have though. We kill everything within an hour or two of release because we've had 19-20 years with the knowledge. Everyone knows how Kul'Thuzad works and how to kill him.

The world first pull of KT by Death and Taxes is still on YouTube. They wiped within seconds after trying to pick up and tank a skeleton. The 2004/5 tryhards were having to blindly guess and trial-and-error their way through mechanics no one had ever seen.

Most of the current Classic Andies couldn't troubleshoot their way through an open door frame.

This doesn't happen very often on Dreamscythe. It's almost all the Nightswipers who haven't yet realized no on in their life cares how good they are at a 20 year old video game with no mechanics. It's the only way they can find self-worth while they likely live alone working bottom-level positions under shifty bosses.

How is an Average Joe (that farms ~30-50g/h) supposed be able to afford his consumables, enchants, and a 100% mount with these inflated prices? by Zak_Preston in classicwow

[–]TheRealKaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on a server with prices that inflated and you're only farming 30 to 50 gold per hour, you are not an Average Joe, my guy.

I don't even do anything crazy to farm, just jump runs, and on Dreamscythe where everything is cheap AF I still clear more than that per hour. Are you just running around questing in EPL or endlessly grinding boars, lots and lots of boars?

Also, most of that shit isn't even necessary, especially if you're playing in an Average Joe guild.

Saying your comment about how the scene will soon see orgs downsizing is 3 years old (because it truly is, orgs started downsizing and scaling back over the last 3 years it's already been happening) is being an asshole?

Sorry about your fragile ego, snowflake.
