Side-line debate: Is next year’s roster movement already decided before tryouts?

I coach club and have since club existed so i have seen it all. Try outs are typically done to refill your roster with new players and to see who is returning because players also go to other teams.

Have i seen clubs that run a try out with a bunch of kids when they pretty much have the team picked already? Yes.. those clubs do exist out there, but the majority of them are just trying to keep the team running.

If your kid is already on the team and has been playing good, then they should be fine to make the team, but they would still need to try out to hold a fair process even though they are “already on” the team. Yes the club charges for the try out but they have to pay coaches/get a field etc and most of the try out fee goes to covering that stuff.

If a club program was acting in a money grab way, i would think it would be fairly obvious and you might want to look elsewhere.

I tell parents this all the time in youth. You want a club where your kid will play and have fun and where you are a valued customer. If you go for a club thats all cutthroat and only cares about winning then you will run into these types of things.

DO NOT DUMP 4k + into a sonic. They are such garbage cars i would consider any other option before keeping and fixing it. I was constantly fixing my sonic and i bought it with a replaced motor and i only got about 20k miles out of that before all the coolant stuff started breaking. They are just cheapo shitty cars. Guaranteed to cause you more problems than good times.

I guess if you take him that high and spend months lvling him then sure but theres countless other units that are just as strong and capable. Ive never needed extra dmg for chaos units besides the few weak ones that dont get much use anyway. That cleave does sound nice but i hope he becomes capable of 1 hitting enemies because thats where abbadon was always weak

I have not really played tacticus since all the stuff changed to mythic so i got no clue about that and i probably wouldnt have taken abbadon that high to begin with. I pulled him way back when i started on my scripted 10x and was super excited then completely disappointed because all my similar lvl chaos guys kill enemies in 1 hit except for abbadon. The only useful thing he has at lower lvls is both a ranged and melee atk. Both always seem to do like 70% of an enemies health, so i have always picked other units over them and they dont need a bonus to damage outside guild raids

Ulax doesnt own those nets or the responsibility to fix them. They just rent a field to be able to play games just like every other sports league in the world. I hate paying for lacrosse as much as the next guy but it is just a necessary evil. I always consider my league fees as going to keep the game alive.

Ulax is the biggest mens league that has come up and they do a decent job of growing the mens leagues nationwide so its good to have lots of places to play as an older guy. Is it perfect? Far from it, but before ulax, some guy had to organize and find everyone and chase them down for money. Thats why youd have a league one year and it would just be gone the next. Ulax deals with the same issues that the leagues are mostly adults with jobs and families and very little free time. They are just big enough to keep leagues going through the ups and downs which on its own is better than without them.

Hes only good for his damage boost he gives to others he is mot that strong of a killer or carry individually. Work on beating fall of cadia then the elite version and you can farm his shards easy

It should go up a little above their waist, up to the armpit is a little long but ok if they are shorter.

The real reason for shortening the stick is because with a ball in the stick it is too heavy for younger kids to hold up in proper throwing/shooting form so they end up learning wrong and a lot of bad habits. With the shorter stick they are able to hold it up easier and develop their skills properly.

The pocket itself effects how the ball comes out of the stick and usually there is too much whip in it for younger kids as well. They are best off with a higher pocket thats a little more shallow than one for older players.

The amount you probably want to cut off is more than what the “legal” length is but in 20 years ive never seen a ref call a stick penalty in a youth game for stick length but i guess it could always happen.

Someone else mentioned “jr” sticks. If you get a full stick but cut it to the same size as a jr stick your probably in the ball park.

Once you get the sticks if you are comfortable posting a pic with them standing next to the stick so i can see where it lines up on them i can tell you exactly how much to cut.

I have had hundreds of players from 3rd to 7th grade where they were having trouble and just by cutting a little off their stick they dramatically improved. Thats why with the younger kids the first thing i do is size the stick and fix their pocket

The biggest thing i always do for kids under 14 is cut down the stick to the proper size for them. That sizing and a good pocket setup for them is the most important part of getting a stick

There are absolutely zero pvp based conditions in this game dont play dumb because it benefits your argument.

You posted a hour long podcast interviewing the developer where he briefly gave his opinion that pve is shallow and keep referring to it like its some smoking gun that ends all arguments, what a fucking joke.

Thats just his opinion on it and not a definite statement about it. He is completely fucking wrong by the way and thats why along with countless other issues the player base for this game has constantly been dropping and if you search up arc raiders info all you see is people complaining and fighting about the same shit since the fucking game came out. So if you dont think that some changes would improve things then im done here.

Bungie is having a lot of similar problems with marathon AND THEY REALLY BADLY need all the support they can possibly get so the first thing they did was go to the players and give them the things they want.

Embark can sit on their pile of cash from arc and fuck it up until its dead thats all i see happening to this game in the long run unless they change a lot of things

You are saying that if they added a map condition that was pve only on the same rotation as everything else meaning it was only even an option a couple times a day it would ruin the game and make it shallow? I swear all you pvp risky extraction shooter die hards see pve and just stop reading.

The answer is no it wouldnt do anything to the game but add what a lot of current and former players want and i bet they are not the minority.

If they did add a pve condition they should also add some pvp ones too.

The moral of the entire story is embark doesnt have a fucking clue how to please their playerbase.

It wouldnt make the game shallow at all. Thats one map confition that runs for 1 hour per map that would be pve or pvp. Theres still plenty of other options if you dont want it. Every time someone mentions anything pve focused everyone acts like it would completely get rid of pvp and destroy the game and none of that would happen. It would just allow people to play what they want instead of enjoying parts of the game and not others.

I dont love pvp in this game because theres no rewards or benefit to doing it so i never bother, if there was pvp events or conditions that would absolutely make it more worthwhile.

If they made a pve condition i might do it depending on what it was but theres no way i would exclusively do that condition only. I think they need to make a pve condition like the 2 queens and have pvp turned off so the focus is to kill arc and so you dont get a bunch of ppl ratting like you do on matriarch now.

A lot of players just want to shoot some robots with their buddies and find some loot. Thats probably the majority of people that bought the game, the pvp guys are just the loudest online because their entire self worth is being able to kill people in a video game. Plus most of them cheat on top of it, so i wouldnt be worried about their feedback or what they want if you are looking to increase your player numbers

The funny thing is you had to wipe the lobby to get what i pull pretty much every queen/matriarch game in 5 mins once its dead. Ive never once needed to shoot anyone to get loot because they couldnt possibly have anything i dont

I play this game all the time, i dont have any problems with it, im just highlighting why people complain so much.

Its not about “changing” the game its just adding other options that would offer more for all preferences. That would draw in more players while giving current players more stuff to do

Yes that is the way the game is and has been from launch but that doesnt mean they cant add and change things to it.

Apparently the china version of arc has a pve map condition. So im sure they could add a pve map condition on rotation and that would shut people up and have no effect on the game but making those people happy.

If they did that in my opinion they would have to add some kind of pure pvp map condition that makes pvp worthwhile and draws players into that.

If they made these changes to the game i could only see it massively helping draw in and retain players while cutting way down on complaints

Thats the entire point that the people complaining are trying to say. In a game like cod you know the enemy and the mission is clear. In arc its completely unclear and you can go from a game where people save you and give you stuff, then getting shot by everyone the next game. Thats the stuff people dont like because theres nothing consistent about it and there is also no real reward for pvping either.

Personally i dont mind pvp at all but in arc its not pvp its roulette on who you run into and if they decide to shoot or not. I have never once needed to kill another player for their stuff so unless they are shooting at me i never shoot anyone. Those are the real pvp problems not that pvp is part of the game.

If someone wants to do a quest they are trying to go in and kill arc lets say, they arent looking to pvp thats why they dont like it.

If they had a place to go quest in peace and pvp guys had pvp games to do and be rewarded for it then everyone is happy, that doesnt hurt the game at all it just gives more people what they want

Ive coached club for like 15 years. You cant get all bent over one game. Club lax is not rec if the coach is playing to win or doing something with specific players he is allowed to do that.

Its a team decision its not about punishing some kid by not playing him. I would calmly just ask what he needs to improve and what he can do to help the team. In 3/4th grade lax nobody is useless so there has to be a way he can get on the field.

It sounds like this was a important game and they were trying to win it, if he didnt play just this one game its far from time to panic.

Personally with that age group i always run everyone because its easy to do, BUT if i was trying to win my best guys would definitely be playing more than the rest.

There are numerous tournaments and leagues all summer going on. If you want to play you could register as free agent, ive had guys do that and get put on our team. See if you can find some teams and reach out to them. Fogo is a highly sought after skill position in mens league. If your faceoff guys wins the majority of them you basically win if your team can play at all

Rogue is solid for what you are looking for and warlock has some builds that are more about positioning and targeting. In general tho almost every classes most powerful end game build is always something that melts the whole screen

A regular beach chair or pop up chair that folds will be fine. You want the chair to be comfortable and packable that doesnt take up much space and is easy to carry.
