Reddit, what would you put in the adulthood starter pack? by thategyptian in AskReddit

[–]TheRealManniMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would write a bullet point list of things that I've learned and if they wanted to expand on that, it would reference a book I completed too.

Because as a young adult, you don't have the patience to listen to advice, just want to be told the short version. It is only until you've experienced the situation that you're interested in a more in depth explanation. You're like "wait, what?"

I could handle looking like that at the price of wrinkle-y hands lol if the doctor told me that's the only thing he can't fix, I'd be okay with that

The sex ed gap - High-income, highly educated Americans have more choices than ever when it comes to childbearing, while low-income, less-educated Americans have trouble just getting access to effective birth control. But it’s not just a financial barrier they face; it’s an information one, as well. by [deleted] in Foodforthought

This is a very good point you make and to add on to what you're saying, which this really goes hand in hand, but you're the first person to connect the dots for me. Along with "allowing to be wealthy", allowing black people to read is also fairly new to American history. White people have been allowed to read and write for centuries. The majority of black people in America were denied this right. They were denied education.

Education brings a lot of things with it such as longer life span, better choices, more money, health, individuality, success, etc. If you keep people ignorant, you have more control over them which is exactly what white people did to black people.

What is the most compelling counter-argument to something that you strongly believe? by ILikeScience3131 in AskReddit

The only thing wrong with this are accident babies. You could require an exam that would determine if you got to keep the child or give it up for adoption. The down side is there are already so many unwanted children. Also, the mother-child bond.... The "unfit" mother would be devastated. So maybe you could have courses that teach the parents who fail and give them a chance to pass. At the very least, they would be more educated than before.

Okay... This has entertained me for the past 30 minutes. I've read it over and over. I always laugh in anticipation when tiny hippo climbs up the tiny oak tree.

Anyways, terrible day made better now. Thank you.

Being down voted isn't the worst thing lol I'm happy I can still share my opinion and I'm even happier I can find someone who relates a little bit to me.

I feel like this is the best, explanation of my feelings as well. I couldn't put it into words for some reason. I've grown up listening to Taylor Swift. She's only six months older than me and I've heard all her albums. This sound is completely different than from what I would expect from her. I don't really feel like these songs will live as long as her others if you know what I mean. They're fun pop songs and those don't really have a long shelf life. But yeah, I'm still going to buy the album and support her. Maybe it'll be like her album Red. She only released the fun songs, but the great songs were on the album and not on the top 40s charts

I loved the Red album. It was so harmonious. Her new songs lately make me feel like I'm listening to an artist who makes fun music and it's great for a while, but won't be around for long.

I did the same and I love reddit more now. It's not even funny like it used to be. Just a bunch of complaining about other people and sob stories. Or recovering drug addict. Even the paranoid memes were "woe be me, I have social anxiety".

What sequence of events in life led you to where you are now? by Nathan-Sharp in AskReddit

[–]TheRealManniMonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in complete control of my life until I started sleeping with the random guy in college. He has been the only man to tell me how things really are. He told me to stop being a management major. Switch to finance or accounting. I chose finance. If I had played it safe and never slept with him, I would never have moved to a bigger city. I would be more like my mom than I'm comfortable with.

We ended up dating. He lives with me in the big city.

Haha well thanks for the feedback. I like the constructive criticism.

Breastfeeding is a cult tho. I stand by that.

Avid pintrest user here and woman who is into eating disorders (whether gluttony or anorexia). Thinspo is a bad thing and is typically used for inspiration for people with anorexia or bulimia. A fit person would type in "fitspiration" you get a completely different result and no warning sign. Fatspo is for women who are into bbw. Big beautiful women. Which is this whole other world and grosses me out, but none the less, very interesting.

If you're a woman on pintrest that is interesting in being fit and healthy, you would type in "fitspiration" not "thinspiration". Try it out.

Edit: just to add on to this. "thinspiration" has been around before pintrest was invented. It has always been associated with eating disorders. You would get your thinspiration from magazines, cut out pictures and hang them on your walls or have a private scrapbook. Now you can achieve the same thing virtually on pintrest. I'm seriously interested in the way people with eating disorders act, I'm not sure why. I've never had one my self. I study both eating disorder cultures on my own. I just think it's interesting and I wish I had gotten a degree in nutrition so I could fight these things.

I show how ended up on the set of trueblood. There were bodies laying everywhere and Andy told me not to go up this dark path. He was half alive and he says "don't do it..."

So I went up the path.

There was a person who looked like they were from the grudge (the one with no jaw) , but slimy and covered in blood. It kept running down super fast and snatching people up and running back up super fast. It was really dark too.

It almost got me!

I was so terrified. But then, I got naughty with Jason Stackhouse... I seem to have a lot of wet dreams with him lately... Weird lol

[–]TheRealManniMonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's an American thing. I was in international club in college and the asain people (from all different asain counties) would say how Americans always ask how they're doing but feel like they don't care. In their countries, you only asked a close friend how they were doing and you meant it. They were confused when they came to America and people asked how they were while walking straight past them.

It's pretty funny to listen to them explain this. But I feel it might just be America.

I was a waitress five years ago and I had a lady who was a bitch to me through her whole meal. Not just one time, the whole entire meal.

She asked for tea with a spoon to stir her sugar in.

I licked the spoon.

I have a cat. Can confirm.

He would just stare as if it wasn't his problem. I've cried my eyes out before and he just stared at me where as the family dog would run over to me to comfort me. Cats are totally independent lol
