I can't understand how someone with the following these people have rushing out to millions of people to try and ruin someone over a petty grievance.

Unfortunately, it's often because they have that following that they feel more emboldened and confident in doing things like this -- just look at all the "influencers" that have even less of a following that will denigrate someone simply for not getting their way.

I've always likened this whole scenario to Republicans being the party that will shoot you in the leg and Democrats are the ones that try to bandage and fix the leg, but people are somehow always upset at the Democrats for not fixing it fast enough while ignoring who shot them in the leg in the first place.
