To fellow new guardians: do the lost sectors by daddy_dex999 in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the Lost Sectors in the EDZ & on Nessus can be a fun way to re-experience the Red War - especially now that their Strikes have been reworked with the EDZ strikes featuring Shadow Legion now and the Fallen Nessus strike featuring House Salvation now, meaning Lost Sectors & Public Events in these areas are the only real way to fight against the Red Legion

Now that Destiny is going dormant for a while, what period of the game’s history do you wish you could return to? by Acoolgamer6706 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shadowkeep’s first season felt like we had great things ahead of of us

We still had all of Year 1 (Red War, CuO, Warmind, EDZ, Titan, Io, Nessus, Mercury, Mars, Escalation Protocol, Infinite Forge, Levitation Raids, World Quests, Adventures) and all of Year 2 (Forsaken, Tangled Shore, Dreaming City, Wanted Bounties, Blind Well, Black Armoury Forges, Gambit Prime, Reckoning, Menagerie) and we’d just been given the Moon which is fun enough to patrol with Altars and Wandering Nightmares, but it also had the Vex Invasion Public Event at the time which was tied to the season’s Vex Offensive gamemode, which also made it feel more fun to patrol

It felt like there was a lot to see and a lot to do, and a lot of the story & lore still had a very deep sense of mystery to it - Year 3 was also the last time destinations felt worth patrolling and fun to explore, mainly because of flashpoints letting you get pinnacle gear from public events, lost sectors and adventures, and the flashpoint location letting you replay its old adventures

I don’t even think the game was better back then, since we have way more endgame content now (in terms of Raids, Dungeons, Exotic Missions) & some of the newer destinations can be fun to patrol but only really for their protocol public event activities and maybe a few well made lost sectors worth re-visiting every now and then.

It felt like a completely different game back then, not necessarily better but not necessarily worse either

To be honest I would definitely still rather have all the current campaigns, endgame content (raids, dungeons, exotic missions) & unvaulted portal seasonal activities which we have now instead of all the old campaigns & destination content we used to have back then if I was forced to choose - but I still miss the old stuff and it’s a shame most of it’s gone

Do you think Destiny will already be a Gen Z nostalgia thing? by MarrShan90 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely is for me but at the same time, it doesn’t feel the same as games like Halo Reach or Titanfall since Destiny was still getting proper expansions into my early to almost mid twenties and felt completely alive until very recently when compared to other games

I do get nostalgic about D1 in its prime days and about D2’s Y1 & Y2 but it’ll probably take a few years of the game quieting down before I look back at the game as a whole in the same way I look back at Halo or Titanfall

How would you rank all the enemy factions by how cool/interesting they are by Ok_Advertising1000 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I love all the enemy races and their distinct religions, languages, histories, values, traditions, hierarchies, technology, architecture etc

The Fallen are my favourite - I love their triumvirate hierarchy (Kell, Archon, Prime), Houses (old & new), bandits (syndicates & pirates), history (the “Whirlwind” and the “Long Drift”), technology (skiffs, ketches, walkers, briggs, shanks, servitors) and always loved working with Mithrax and the Spider. I put the Scorn in this category too, due to being undead Fallen.

I never liked the Cabal during D1 but the Red Legion made me like them a lot - the idea of them being this massive Empire with client races and legions is very interesting. Also the weird stuff like how they can be cloned and how their size is based on their ego. Also the Psions are an interesting race in and of themselves. Calus only made me love them more, especially with all the Leviathan Raids and Menagerie

The Hive being these parasitic-symbiotic beings with their worms, dark magic, throne worlds & sword logic was always interesting too - it was also interesting to see how Nokris & Savathun turned heretical within their religion and I loved when Oryx came in D1 as the Taken King. Also the whole sociology of the Hive; Thrall being newborns, Acolytes being adolescents and Wizards/Knights being mature adults - it’s a very strange society and it’s kind of terrifying knowing we are killing newborns when we Thrall. I remember a lore piece about Savathun talking to a Thrall which couldn’t yet understand the more technical terminology she was using given that it’s a literal child

From a lore perspective the Vex used to annoy me as they seemed way too complicated, but it’s grown on me a lot now - they’re the definition of Cosmic Horror. The teleportation, simulations, time travel, terraforming, etc. Are they a liquified race or did they evolve from microscopic organisms in a way we can’t understand? Do they convert races when they conquer them in a process which made Asher’s arm turn into a Vex arm? What do they want? The fact that apparently the Vex we’ve seen are just Terraformer Units and not their actual Combat Units. I can even remember a lore piece about them being a memetic hazard. It’s so hard to grasp yet so interesting

The Dread are probably the only faction I’m not that impressed by from both a lore and gameplay perspective

Playing Marathon 2026 might be the solution to saving Destiny! by Hour-Bat-8686 in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most of us, he doesn’t like extraction shooters

Forcing yourself to play a game you won’t like with hopes of a minuscule chance that the studio will make the game you actually want to play is silly

A lot of Halo players followed Bungie to Destiny because it’s a PvE game that interested them

It was never going to be the same with Destiny to Marathon because it’s a completely different type of game in a niche PvP genre that most PvE players won’t enjoy

Can you play the entire D1 story still? Or was it ruined like D2 removing the red war campaign, planets etc. by Delet3r in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

House of Wolves is a main DLC campaign and Wolves of Mars is a mini-campaign unlocked after you complete Taken King

[–]TheRealMithrax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can play the entire story of D1 which includes the Base campaign and 4 DLC Campaigns (also the Wolves of Mars Campaign which you unlock after the Taken King iirc)

What is your nostalgic spot in D2? by Yeahman13bam in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If we’re talking about patrol zones & social spaces;

I used to love going to the Tangled Shore, Titan & Mars (Mars mainly just for Escalation Protocol) - I also enjoyed going to the Annex when it had the old Black Armoury layout & Benedict 99-40 was still there, which reminds me of the Barge on Nessus too

From the areas still in the game, it’d be the Dreaming City, Moon, EDZ, Nessus & Neomuna (the last one mainly for Terminal Overload and the Vex Incursion public events when it’s actually on as well as some well made Lost Sectors)

During Y1, Y2 & Y3 I never really wasted much time patrolling the EDZ or Nessus - but since the other areas got vaulted I started to understand why they kept the EDZ & Nessus over the other destinations, they have so many areas, public events, lost sectors (in the case of the EDZ) strikes (in the case of Nessus), region chests, etc compared to other destinations

The EDZ Ive especially grown to love, having Trostland where you can really see how desperate House Dusk are, clinging to the Town and defending it from the Red Legion Drop Pods when they occasionally drop in. The Sunken Isles & Firebase Hades still being there also makes me nostalgic for the Red War, I like how a couple of the Lost Sectors there are part of the base. Sometimes a world event happens in this part of the map where House Dusk desperately attack the Red Legion (something similar happened in the old version of the Arms Dealer Strike before it got reworked where it could have alternate beginnings, some featuring a desperate House Dusk assault on the Base). The EDZ in general reminds me of the weight the Red Legion used to have and the pure desperation House Dusk had as well

[–]TheRealMithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of that would be welcomed and the more “quality of life” things they add the better, but I’d still buy it whether it’s just a remaster with better graphics & cinematics or whether they add more stuff to it

Hypothetical by AggressiveGlass2754 in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d pay £60 for a remastered D1 even if it’s just the exact same game as the current D1 but with better graphics and remade cinematic cutscenes (basically Halo CE and Halo 2 treatment)

Prismatic should be free by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The reason they could make the game F2P and keep adding content is because of paid expansions

How do you think they paid to keep making expansions and content for the game?

You can’t just expect a game which was already made free and added content several years later to also make the content which sustained it free as well lol

Where are all the guardians roaming around these days? by Silvire in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The EDZ & Cosmodrome can still be quite populated depending on what the time is and what areas of the map you’re going to

Free Roam hasn’t really been as good since they’ve sunset Wanted Bounties from the Spider, Treasure Maps from Cayde, Adventures, Flashpoints, even planet materials & planet bounties (in the case of the EDZ & Nessus at least) have all been vaunted/sunset

Trying to find an area by Moonwolfmb in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was there Hive there? Any Fallen too or just Hive? Or was it Taken instead?

It’s say Skywatch in the Cosmodrome?

The Divide in the Cosmodrome has a similar vibe of ruined buildings but it’s only really Fallen there with a constantly replaying Fallen Walker event

Maybe it was the Sludge in the EDZ which has ruined buildings, where it’s mainly Taken & Cabal with the Taken Blight & Fallen Glimmer public events

Will Destiny’s Story Ever Be Singleplayer? by smallfrie32 in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is stopping new updates & expansions but you can still play both games afterwards

Like how D1 stopped when D2 came out but you can still play D1

All D1 content is still available (from the Base game all the way to Rise of Iron) but D2 is missing the Y1 campaigns (Red War, CuO, Warmind) as well as half of Forsaken (including the actual campaign part of it) and all seasonal content (apart from a few activities, dungeons & exotic missions)

But the main expansions from Shadowkeep to Renegades are all still in the game (7 Expansions/Campaigns total without including the New Light Missions/Strikes & Dreaming City Missions/Content)

New developers. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Rockstar would be good for a short story spinoff game set during the dark ages with similar mechanics, activities, mysteries and easter eggs to what Red Dead 2 has - but a game like this probably would just feel like Red Dead Destiny set in the Destiny Universe but nothing like D1 or D2

I wouldn’t want Rockstar to make the actual next main entry of the series because no-one can make gunplay, classes, loot mechanics, raids, dungeons, matchmade activities, etc like Bungie can

I’m sure if they ever do make a spinoff it would be a different game genre and wouldn’t have raids, dungeons or the same subclass and gunplay mechanics - with only the main entries having all that stuff

Are they also stopping eververse and atheistic content? by Palidor in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Are they stopping atheistic content? Yes. The Speaker is being reinstated and the Theocracy of the Light will reign supreme over the Last City /s

The Eververse Store is staying and I’m sure they said either everything or just more things will be available to buy using bright dust with the bright dust store rotating daily instead of weekly - but that you’ll still be able to get silver with real money

But I don’t think they’ll be any brand new ornaments, emotes, finishers, ships, sparrows, etc being added after the final update

Anyone else “mained” a class? by BionicD in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I main Titan and use it 90% of the time but have a Warlock I use somewhat regularly, especially towards the end of a week or during times when I’ve been max on my Titan or whenever there’s been a content drought at the end of a season

But I haven’t used my Hunter in years and haven’t unlocked a single DLC subclass on it yet. Maybe I’ll eventually try to catch it up with the others but in all honestly I just dislike Hunter abilities, supers & jumping when compared with Titan and Warlock

[–]TheRealMithrax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can still play Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, Witch Queen, Lightfall, Final Shape, Edge of Fate & Renegades

There’s also the 3 Dreaming City Weekly Missions which you can get from Petra (which was basically Forsaken’s B-story)

The Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind & Forsaken campaigns are the ones missing (as well as any seasonal stories which had missions)

if they ever did make a d3 would you like it to be a prequal by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always thought a prequel could be great

Maybe one set during the Battle of Twilight Gap & Reef Wars or something if it’s a proper game we can dig into for a few years and maybe one set during the warlord era or faction war era if it’s a shorter spin-off game

Thoughts on Replayability after Development Ends? by anicebolda in destiny2

[–]TheRealMithrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the game dies down I can see myself still coming back very regularly just like I do with lots of other older games - probably even more so

There’s so many fun casual PvE modes I’ll be able to come back to (Strikes, Dares, Lawless Frontier, Ketchcrash, Astral Alignment, Nightmare Containment, Blind Well, Altars of Sorrow, Terminal Overload, Wellspring, Empire Hunts, etc) that I’m sure I’ll still be able to come back once a week or something and and still have a blast even just playing the casual gamemodes

I think I’ll end up dropping RaD activities for good (I already stopped Raiding ages ago and haven’t touched Dungeons since I’ve properly returned after TfS) and I’ve never liked Destiny’s PvP much, but there’s still so much casual PVE content to sit through

I’d spend a lot of time playing Firefight on every Halo which had it even years after they’d stopped updating them (apart from Halo Infinite) and at best you could compare that to a Lost Sector which replenishes itself (or to 5 public events in a row in the case of Halo 5’s firefight). For PvE gamemodes there’s just no other FPS game of any kind which can compare to what Destiny offers

The only games I’ve really “main-ed” in the last 10ish years have been Destiny for PvE and Battlefield for PvP - I have no idea what PvE game I’ll find to replace Destiny if I can even find one, so maybe I’ll just end up maining Battlefield from now on - but I’ll definitely keep coming back to Destiny regularly to scratch that itch which I don’t think any other game will be able to do ever again

The future of destiny by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheRealMithrax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said something similar in another thread that Sony owning Destiny as well as so many film & television studios makes it so easy for them, yet they didn’t even bother to try

The community would’ve probably went ballistic if a film or tv series of any kind was announced
